I myself do not prefer, but at the moment 2 of the 4 distros I have use KDE (blackPanther, Nobara). I've got used to it, still far from liking it. I use Garuda with xfce and Debian (most of the times with MATE, Classic Gnome or Cinnamon). I'm eternally grateful to Linux Mint Cinnamon for saving me from win11 a year ago, though I do not use it at the moment (I've used it for half a year, I replaced it out of pure curiousity, but still on my Top5 list).

I thought Bill stopped making windows at 95 when Steve stole it, but had a gaming and ratting (not that I used it for this) VM ISO called XP for awhile. I think that was around the same time Debbie, Ian and Linus made the Unix Alternative (90s). There are others? You must be talking about Siduction? (yes, joking) Great vid, But Neon has to find a way out of the KDE demo "friend zone" to get much traction. I'm not sure how. Maybe they shouldn't. I have come to love Plasma. I have to admit I usually strip KDE min after install, but I have become addicted to activities via Plasma.

From the list of KDE distributions I would not recommend KDENeon at all. It is not stable. It's a test bed. And it had big problems to upgrade to the latest Ubuntu LTS. If you want a stable KDE just take Debian / MxLinux or Kubuntu (if you don't mind the politics behind it). Arch (and Endeavour, CachyOS), they are too bleeding for daily use. An OS should support your daily work and not eat your time with upgrading? With Manjaro, Fedora and OpenSuse TW I have some mixed feelings. All three of them never broke really, but all of them had some downside in the past (most of the time dependency problems between packages), I could solve them, but a normal user (e.g. like a Windows user), would have no chance. And of course this happens, when you quickly need some thing done -:) (Murphy's law) I am using Kubuntu, because I do not mind using snap versions (and also flatpaks). In parallel I keep an eye on Fedora in a virtual machine installation. I do not know, why I am not using Debian. Maybe too outdated for a desktop OS.

Worth mentioning with Kubuntu that if you select minimal installation snapd doesn't get installed and snaps have to be manually enabled just like flatpak through discover, though apt still does default to it in the terminal. I also had issues with Manjaro and can't recommend it to anyone too confusing for new/casual users and experienced users should just use Arch or Endeavour especially if they introduce their opt out telemetry.
