It's so funny to me how people gleefully clap that Agnes is now "put down" because Ada has a fortune. Let's recap: Their Father died, and heir brother Henry gambled away all of the family money, leaving Agnes and Ada dependent on someone who had lost everything they had(this would, include their dowries) Agnes married a man she did not particularly like to save herself and Ada, and Arnold Van Rijn, per Ada , was "not a man you would want to be alone with". He was a cruel man, at the very least, and they never go into it further. Agnes states,"You were afforded the tranquil life of a spinster. I was not". She took care of her sister. Her marriage was not a loving one, obviously a cruel one. I don't think it's totally fair for everyone to be so gloating.

That Looook Ada gives Mr. Raikes could make anyones blood run cold. Aunt Ada is the sweetest person on the cast, and shes only ever been vocal about disliking one other person. And you gotta be a REAL snake in the grass for a kind woman like her not to like you. Mr. Raikes just became the second, and an even Lower specimen at that.

This should be interesting to for season 3. Ada is now a rich widow...so she may have a multitude of gold digging suitors coming out of the woodwork trying to charm her into marriage. With her sweetness and naivete, she'll be like a lamb surrounded a pack of starving wolves. Luckily, she's got her sister Agnes to blow them away with her shotgun of a mouth LOL

Gotta admit this was some typical Downton Abbey Dues Ex Machina type result to it. If "Maud Beaton" doesn't return for season 3 and that entire plotline was just to get Ada in charge and nothing more, I'll be very disappointed.
