Any word on Bill (Phil?) Great lesson - I wonder how many of those 10 strokes per round he said he was losing have "vamooshed"?
His low has been an 81. On the brink of breaking 80.
A year down the line and you only have to read some of the comments to see why golfers, on average, aren't improving! If you're a hacker then doing the same as you've always done isn't going to make you any better. Put your ego aside and open your mind to the possibilities that maybe, just maybe, someone actually knows what they're talking about. All these tips are valid, with a little adjustment, depending on where your current skill level is. When I first saw a scoring method video I was shooting 110 plus. I was so bad I couldn't even keep a genuine score because of all the penalties and frustrations. I took all the scoring method basics to a new course in the middle of winter and shot 100 exactly and legitimately. It was so clear that my short game completely sucked, I practiced it and within a few months I was down to mid 90s, a year I was shooting low 90s and now I'm trying to break 85. Improvement in golf is dependent on how much you can play and practice and isn't linear due to the randomness of the game but if you work on the right things you can improve.
How awesome are these results. So great to hear!
Great video. I think more of this
I totally disagree on working on short game. ARCOS stats have shown that the longer you hit the ball off the tea, the shorter the irons you are using into the green. Putting doesn’t have as bigger impact as driving the ball longer off the tee.
Unplayable. So Option 1. take 1 club length drop Option 2 go as far back as you like on line, or 3)back to tee and stroke and distance. 4) in stableford comp just pick up, wipe the hole and go to next tee. You should always teach them to hit a provisional off tee before they leave so don't waste time if take Option 3
ok, so what was the counting method your partner used to determine which club to use on the chip? Does he always intend to hit the chip 5 bases on the green on the long type of chip and change clubs depending on distance?
This couldn’t be more correct. Beginners worst thing is expecting to hit the ball like their playing partners who have ten years experience.
I have been suffering from yips for a long time. Just terrible. Have thought of giving-up the game I love so dearly. This was a great session. I felt like I was the student. Brilliant. Coach you are really immersed in how and what you teach. I can't wait to try these drills myself. Thank you for helping!
As an established single figure handicap golfer my coach has given me as part of a practice plan coming back after a season break that I should play a few round with basic set as described then add in a club as go. So good for shot making and learning how to score.
I play all my midweek golf with a moon bag and a few clubs. I only take the full set out for medals and comps now.
Content ok but I can’t listen to UA-camrs who speak at you like you are a 9 year old with learning disabilities.. cringing video
i can hit a ball. stopped playing for some years. took it up in august. followed this strategy: hit an I5 go-to-club 170 yards from the tee, an I9 for 2nd and 3rd shots and chipping and a sandwedge for pitching and bunkers and a putter. I scored under 90 every time. Amazing. So simple. Almost boring. 😊
I only get the yips when I’ve got a scorecard in my hand. Can’t emulate it during practice, therefore it only affects me in competitions! Therefore no amount of drills can help
Putting with loft--what a game changer. The reason I say that is because no one is intimidated at the thought of putting. It's so easy. Thanks Will.
Great video Will. I'm looking forward to adding The Scoring Method to my repertoire. I can't wait to check out your other videos. Thanks.
Try camomile.
Some if this is partially useful. Some of this came from Dave Pelz and Phil. These vlogs are also useful
Great video. I’ve been trying to put the Scoring Method into practice. I’m now thinking about where I want to land the ball not how far I hit it. I don’t have a hybrid (and I’m not going to buy one 😅) but have started using my 7 wood around the greens.
7 wood works great.
Seeing you toss clubs brought me to this video. It’s just what i needed after not playing much over the last few years.
Get rid off what we don’t need
The scoring method works! A couple of years ago I couldn't get close to breaking 100. Watched the older videos about the level 1 scoring method. Keep it in play, get it inside 100 yards and get down in 3. Went out and shot 100 on the nose first time out and I come away knowing I chipped and putted like an absolute clown that day! Got down to a best of 86 but regular 90-92 in fact I was really consistent around that number. Lost my way a bit the last few months chasing distance and not playing so much. My advice is follow this plan, learn to crawl, then walk, then jog, then run a marathon. Don't learn to walk, think it's too easy and go straight to the marathon.
Thank you for the confidence you had in the method.
This is an incredible video. Thank you so much!!
Blown away by the amazing comment.
As a single figure golfer,I went back to the start again and did all these drills really helped, especially the chipping with a hybrid, which I rarely would consider, this opens my shot repertoire and made me think more creative. Even chipped 8 to 4 with 5. 7 9 irons, gave me new shots. Would advise all good players to go back and have a refresher once per year. Thanks will
Wow thank you for your kind words.
Great video. Remove the tension and reorient the perspective. Has to be a winning combo. Thanks.
Glad you liked it.
As a 25 handicap, thank you!
I have given up trying to win Nearest the pin in competitions. So many greens are set up with suckrr pins. Most winnrrs of NTPs hit by luck. Ps from 170 yds=160m i am laying up.
Great video. I'll give these drills a try. I have the yips. It's an involuntary twitch of the right hand, just before impact. And it's so debilitating. I have to putt left handed just to get around the course and it's hard to see the line from that side of the ball.
😂😂😂😂
Class
lmao
Yes. Good advice to play to your handicap. Good advice to play to your strengths and think about where you’re going to use those extra shots. But if you’re an 18 handicap, that means you’re normally hitting in the high 80s or low 90s and you’re regularly making some pars and even some birdies. If you’ve hit 100, then yeah… you’ve pretty much blown up the course.
Sooo… if we’ve got a shot that is 100 yards out, we should NOT be going for the GREEN (not the pin, just the green)? That’s right; chip it up closer to 30-10 yards out and from there take out your 7 or 9 iron and do a little bump and run. H3ll, we won’t hit the green 80% of the time anyway, so no sense trying. This advice adds a stroke for no reason. 100 yards in is EXACTLY the time an EIGHTEEN HANDICAP should be going for the green. Otherwise you’ve just turned a potential bogey into a double for no reason.
Love strategy stuff like this. Jared looked like he was having a rough day. 😂.
You’re gaslighting dude. That putt was 3 feet from the hole, lol.
Actually 83.7%
Aim in front and let it bounce better that way
Some great nuggets there. Love the walk in from the left when playing a draw. And the two club lengths back from tees. I’ve played for years and never knew that. Cheers Dan brilliant watch
Confidentiality is key
My home course is Cordova Bay Golf Club Victoria BC Canada 🇨🇦 . It's a very nice course. Oddly it has 11 bunkers long left. There were 3 more holes I could have counted but strictly speaking they were a very short measure making it not long or more back than left. By a small marjin
I was a 6.4. My pet peeve is aiming 25 feet right and hitting exactly where I aimed. I don't freak out, but inside, I'm thinking why i didn't hit 12 feet left. Aiming to the safe spot will save you shots in the end
Absolutely fantastic lesson. I wish I had it yesterday. Had 3 blowup holes and cost me a win. I’ll be ready next week.
He is 100% right about looking at the target to get a reading on distance control, however, I think he’s wrong about over-reading break. I think amateurs under-read break by a factor of 2 or 3 times the break. Try this in practice: read your putt then triple the amount of break you initially read then putt that line.
Did he say pinis sounds like something not meant for golf course 😅
Excellent video an process, Thanks from Sydney Australia 9
I might not be that good? Let me assure you, I am definitely not that good.
Heck for me, coming back after 13 years off, and only just shooting 91 92 my last couple of times out, I'm perfectly happy to live with a double on the #1 handicap hole if things go south, or on any of the tough holes. Just not too many of them. :)
BINGO!!
This is the best chipping yips video i have seen to date - 5 handicap yipper and its already helping me already as it makes sense and simplistic but v effective.. thank you
This is a video about a bunch of shots you don't need, and no info on the shot you do need.
When u throw a ball so u rehearse like you did with the putter? When u bowl a ball, same question?
Handicap’s are a load of baloney, you step up to a par four , the course is challenging you to get a par four or better, anything else is just massaging your ego , the trick is not to get upset when the course beats you , enjoy the challenge
GAHDAMN this is great advice
