What no Swhacker?

I wanted to say thank you for your video. I was hunting a pair of Tom’s North of Mobile, Alabama that had taken over a strut field from an old dominant bird that had been killed a few weeks earlier. (Likely poached because the field belongs to a former member of our club who died and no one is allowed to hunt us but us, and it’s a sunken field protected by swamp on 2 sides, a creek with trees and 10 foot rise then 50 acres of open flat field. It’s damn near impossible to get then once they make it to the field, so we play a guessing game of their roost and try to cut them off. I guessed right and located them with owl call but was skittish on getting too close as my buddy bumped them a few days earlier and they hit the field. We played google games after they breeded their hens but they wouldn’t come of that field. I recharged and regrouped, (it was hot as helland I was out of water, an and around noon. I had listen to this and since we had a little breeze and I had an hour left I decided to use your setup on edge of field. I put out Mr B full strutter, funky chicken breeding a hen, and a feeding hen in a triangle and then set against fence line, kinda hidden by shade and tree with big fig tree like leaves. About 30 minutes later after some light calling the two Tom’s came running in from behind about 10 feet away, almost running over me. I couldn’t believe these damn birds which can spot you in full camo in the swamp 100 yards away didn’t see me but they were locked on the strutter, they circled it a few times then ran on to the Jake and started going at him. Still stunned they hadn’t seen me, I resolved to take first shot I had of whatever bird I could get. ( I didn’t move but I literally saw both beards as they flew by me and both were solid. I knew one of these birds was older but pigs get feed hogs get slaughtered.) Anyway, he stuck out his head I put the red dot on him and Apex TSS did the rest. A great way to end the season on last weekend. A nice 20 pound bird with 10 inch beard and ridiculously sharp 1 inch 1/8 inch spurs. It is all to do with surface area of the shaft of the arrow in contact with the ballistic jelly, it acts like a brake! The skinny arrow has less area so it passed through. If you shoot from say 40 yards you will find that the lighter arrows slow faster and don’t retain as much of their energy as the heavier arrows, they don’t loose as much energy to wind resistance as the lighter arrows.

I bought my SIK on clearance and the only problems I have ever dealt with is operator's. Accurate, great entry and exit, including rattling ribs, holds its edge even after getting buried in bases of trees, starts a bloods on impact, great hole diameter, etc. Most of the time I have to track the deer, so bleedout is slow, but I mostly blame that on my aim and not steady hands. I reckon the thin arrow penetrated so much better because the larger diameter tip and collar creates a bigger diameter hole for the rest of the arrow to go through with way less friction.

Vap sd gets more penetration because the tip is larger than the shaft itself So it’s not surprising

gel is not strong enough to test mech. broadhead function ....you should know this....a no brainer.....really???

Think that binary explosive needs at least 2000fps to set off. I know its says center fire rifle cartridges needed.

Had a doe a few weeks ago go 20 or 30 and drop great accuracy and good penatration but i didnt find a drop of blood

Different tunes for different weights

Smaller diameter arrows always penetrate much farther. The best arrow Ive found so far is the 4mm X-Impact, 100 grain steel outsert, 100 grain tip. Stupid penetration... Brand new targets cant hold it back... my moose arrow. Deer arrow: 5mm Victory XV, 50grain titanium half outsert = super fast.

Im shooting a 650 grain at 260. Its a absolute hammer.

Velocity×velocity×mass/450240= KE.......velocity is measured twice , weight once. The difference in KE is minimal as weight goes up or down . The argument for heavy arrows has always been momentum. In real world results , at least for me, light arrows penetrate animals as good or better than slower heavier arrows . KE high enough for the animal your hunting is the key . My current setup is a 402gr arrow at exactly 300fps. That's 80 ft lbs of KE. Exactly TWICE the recommended minimum for a mature whitetail. I used to hunt with a 315gr arrow at 313-325 , depending on which bow I was shooting. The only time I didn't get a complete pass through was on a nice buck at 35 yds . Hit the leg bone on the far side after complete heart penetration . I watched him expire after a 40 yd run.

This is showing that a trocar tip is a far superior penetrator than a Cut-On-Contact of any make, model, or type. Strong work.

I've used the toxic on feral goats and it leaves a mess they work well massive bleed out.

I can tell ya what I think that could be scary but this is what I use 50 cal with the the XTP 44 mag bullet with the green sabat, I use no more power belt, the XTP 300 grain just plain works and you will never be unhappy with them, aim small good hunting.

I have been using now is either VAP 166's (300spine) or I found Blackout 166's (250 spine) arrows and I am getting great results from both. But the Blackout's seemed to fly a lot truer over longer distances than the VAP's.

Ramcat performs extremely well on the bleedout test on actual deer. Not to take away from the name of the one broadhead in your test but its really a bloodbath with the ramcat...just saying. Pass-through every time and accurate as field tips...ramcat for life. Nice video fellas

Put the same fixed blade broadheads onto the pierce arrow and one of the others maybe the one of the same weight, just larger diameter arrow and shooting into foam or cardboard then and see the difference if there is any at all?

I’ve taken literally multiple dozens of animals with those Zwickey heads back years ago. Traditional & compound. They were inexpensive and easy to sharpen. It’s about shot placement folks. Not about pretty and shiny although those Slick Trick became my go to for years. I still use them on turkeys because I nearly always get a complete pass through hit. Same results on deer. The best deal AND head out there,IMO, is the Magnus hornets with bleeders. These are guaranteed for life if you damage one and aren’t expensive like those greatly touted marketed single bevel heads that are ridiculously expensive with no guarantee. With the Hornet heads I’ve had 100% pass through rate on many many deer and some pigs to about 175#’s. Black Eagle Carnivore finished arrow weight at 456. 28” at 60#’s.
