    Did you have a concern about using the 3 ch for LCR? I think you mentioned using the 3 ch Purifi for Cntr and surrounds. I think Dylan mentioned it may be a "waste" using the Purifi on surrounds.

    • @RandomDistractionsYT
      @RandomDistractionsYT 4 дні тому

      No concerns and yeah Dylan mentioned that to me as well but was ok with having my bed layer have the same amount of power and quality. Since my 2 ch was a dented one the price for having all Purifi was also not too concerning. I would also say with my 1140 I didn't really see much benefit but now with the AVM 90 with them being more active I'm feeling better about it. Having the center with the surrounds the 3 channel isn't being worked too hard by having the front 3 speakers on it.

    How can I make primary input each time I turn on the mrx1140, for example it’s set to PS5 each time i turn it on, I like my primary input to be my nvidea shield, is there way to change this, thank you

    • @RandomDistractionsYT

      Yeah, there is. When you go to the browser settings go to "General" then under "Main Zone" you have the "Power-On Input" select from the available ones and when you first turn on the system that will be the input that it chooses. You can also do the same for "Zone 2" if you need it.

    Many thanks for the update, much appreciated. Starting with an already very good set up, it’s likely unrealistic to see a ‘significant’ upgrade (my choice of words I know), but good to hear it’s noticeable. Is that more for music, or both movies and music? TBH my main fear as I consider the investment of upgrading to AVM90 / ATI AT 527NC that the difference proves to be relatively small compared to the already very good Pioneer SCLX85 …

    • @RandomDistractionsYT
      @RandomDistractionsYT 22 дні тому

      Yeah, the law of diminishing returns comes quick, unfortunately. The difference I hear is in both music and movies. Honestly, the best way to see if it is worth it is to try it out in your home and make sure that there is an easy return policy in case you decide it's not worth it. Trust me I know that feeling and if it wasn't for being able to hear it myself I wouldn't have even considered a change. Best of luck with what you decide.

    Those L800’s value is far beyond the measurements. The acoustic effect of reducing interaural crosstalk is like a small hallucination. The sound stage goes outsides the plane of the speakers. This is not typical audiophile, “adjectives/fluff”. It’s just a fact, you literally hear the music outside the left and right side of the speaker. For testing those they are very fickle. They should not be too far apart, if they are they should be toed in, if not far apart then they should be head on. They require a single ended amplifier meaning the power should not go to the positive and negative terminals. It should all flow through one. Many class AB amps are single ended, some class D are. If the amp is not singled ended (confusingly called balanced, not to be confused with the inputs) then the SDA effect is reduced. They are like the first speaker where the measurements legit don’t tell the whole story because the effect is a phenomenon that takes place in our heads….

      @@RandomDistractionsYT it's possible to calibrate a Trinnov yourself and there are other remote options, but that's good to think through. There is a Trinnov app. If money is tight, I worry that the AVM90 won't be a meaningful upgrade over what you already have. IMO, it would be better to save it for something that will make a more meaningful improvement. Doesn't have to be a Trinnov. It sounds like you have the upgrade bug. I know how that goes. :)

    I have tried and tried to justify this but for what it is it's not worth it , you still only have about 29 movies at a time on there. $4000 would get you a nas, a zidoo, and a whole lot of movies to buy and even a pc to boot.

    • @RandomDistractionsYT
      @RandomDistractionsYT Місяць тому

      Yeah, I hear you and it's actually only about 10-11 if you do 4K so less justified for you. If you have the space for doing the NAS, Ziddo, PC, and movies I would not dissuade you from it as I do think it's a great option. For me, it's been about convenience and I have actually found myself wanting to buy more movies now so I haven't felt disappointed in the purchase. In my case, it fits my use case better than the other option. Either way, it's ultimately getting to enjoy movies!

    As a Trinnov owner I think you're nit picking. Issue #1 network, I've used mine with two different networks, Asus and Orbi, never had a problem. Issue #2. Microphone yes, it has a 9V battery you replace as it is consumed so this is not an issue with Trinnov as you say it is. #3 HDMI CEC is not supported on Trinnov, I've also requested this feature but I don't really need it since my IP control app works just fine. I wanted it mainly for volume control from an AppleTV 4k. #4 Trinnov calibration, these are typically sold through an integrator who are certified to calibrate these units. As such, they're really not ment for consumers but for DIY Prosumer or Integrators. The DIY Prosumer knows and takes responsibility. I've upgraded from a Marantz AV8805A to Trinnov Altitude 16 with 4.4.0 and have all channels activated with the +4 digital optical and coax outputs. For me WaveForming is a game changer and totally Amazing. I don't think I can go back to anything else. It seemed like a mostly negative review I do hope you consider revising it after listening to other installations.

    • @RandomDistractionsYT
      @RandomDistractionsYT Місяць тому

      Sorry that it came across that way, I was really impressed by how it sounded despite the problems I ran into. The network issue I think is more the router that I have vs the Trinnov. The microphone just seemed a little daunting to replace but that is just me not feeling comfortable with working on something that wasn’t mine. The CEC was me not knowing that it wasn’t supported and as others have mentioned can be done with other methods which is great to hear. And yeah, for this level of processor it definitely needs you to have the additional money to use a professional to get it integrated and was not something I was aware of either but certainly see why it would be that way. I think someone else mentioned that I was probably only experiencing about 30-40% of what it’s capable of and I can certainly see that possibility as I was impressed at what it could do with my limited abilities. Truly a great unit.

    Great video, I too use an 1140 4K. Never used the on-board amps. ATI 523 and 524 for LCR and bed layer surrounds. Outlaw 5000x for 4 overhead spkrs. 3 passive 12" subs and a LFE Buttkicker powered by a Crown XLi 2500, ( front pair,) and a Crown XLi 1500,( rear sub and BK.) Subs are DYI. Other speakers are SVS, 3 Ultra Bookshelf for LCR, and 4 pairs of Prime Elevation for bed layer and height surrounds. Room is 12.25' x 12.33' x 8'. I have an AVM 90 I got brand new for <5K, and have a Buckeye 6ch NC 252 to replace the Outlaw. I have never ran ARC Genesis, in spite of that my system sounds really good,( to my ears,) I will eventually with the 90 run the cal. Using the same Music Machine 2.0 through my system,( originally on my Zappit Reference,) I was very impressed as the audio engages and highlights each speaker. I have long recommended the video as a demo to others such as Youthman, Kpace to mention just a couple . Kudos to you for incorporating it in your video. Keep up the good work, hope you get the 90, I too will have an MRX 1140 to sell.

    The Trinnov processor is outstanding if you would have had it properly calibrated is a huge improvement over just adjusting the levels and if you have 4 subwoofers and calibrated it for waveforming that would make it sound like the images are floating on air and you would hear micro details I had a McIntosh mx 160 before it’s not even close to the Trinnov

    As someone who has set up many dozens of trinnov processors, Unfortunately, is definitely not geared for your average hobbyist or even your typical installer for that matter to just plug and play and work out of the box not going to happen (But has gotten alot easier than before) It can be a very detailed lengthy set up process and unlike any other processor currently on the market, you really need to be trained. By trinnov to set it up properly or have someone that has been trained by them to set it up. Because you will miss so many things that are just hidden in the menus, that can make a giant difference. With what you did to get it up and running, you're getting only maybe getting 30-40 % out of it. As far as CEC, goes, that doesn't work well on any ultra high end product that i've come across.Not reliable at all As a japanese receiver for sure. This is the type of product.You'll definitely want to use a control system of some sort with plus at this price point, it shouldn't be a problem. Remember, this product came out of the commercial world into the public sphere. So it's really meant for a control system anyway. Really high-end products will have their quirks. But when they perform, it's unlike anything else you've ever experienced. It's like buying a McLaren, expecting it to be as reliable and approachable as a Toyota Corolla, not gonna happen. 😂

      Appreciate you sharing that and agree that when you are at this level you are definitely using someone to install and setup and can only imagine what it would sound like properly integrated with that type of system. Can totally appreciate what it can be capable of but for now will have to stay with something more hobbyist friendly like myself.

    I know this is an older video do you still recommend the first part when your raise the volume to 75db of the lowest speaker before running arc genesis? • @RandomDistractionsYT
      @RandomDistractionsYT Місяць тому

      Thanks for checking out the video and to answer your question, no, I don’t use that method anymore. I let ARC Genesis handle the volume as it does change it when it runs the first sweep. I then just turn it up as needed when watching movies or listening to music. I feel like earlier versions of ARC were like that but don’t feel that way with some of the latest versions. Are you running the most recent version of ARC? Also do you have any post dynamics turned on (movie, music, or night)?

    • @Snoopi.7
      @Snoopi.7 Місяць тому

      @RandomDistractionsYT thanks for the response it’s a new purchase I ran arc genesis a couple of times and notice that compared to my old receiver this seems to get louder at the same volume so not sure what the issue is. It’s up to date and using the recent version of arc. What I mean by louder the anthem say at -27 is like reference volume (really loud) while on the previous receiver I felt like -15 was good volume for movie watching. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong like before I calibrate using arc but I let arc do its thing don’t mess with anything

    • @RandomDistractionsYT
      @RandomDistractionsYT Місяць тому

      I actually just realized that you were eyeing the Anthem about 10 months ago. Hopefully the ARC Genesis process wasn't too bad. As for the volume difference I wouldn't worry about it too much if it sounds good at that level. The difference could be as simple as the amplification in the Anthem being better than what you had before so the volume gets louder sooner. I do also notice a volume difference between sources as well. Movie watching on my Strato V is comfortable at -30 vs streaming Max I can go to -10 and still feel like it could be a little louder but then listening to music through Spotify I enjoy at -20.

      @RandomDestractionsYT lol yea finally made the purchase took little longer to save up. it’s not bad still learning the ins and outs I was just a little confused on the volume thinking it would be very similar to my previous receiver but that makes sense about it being little more efficient.
