Nah man, I know I'm 2 years late to the party, but you did my boy Bekowsky dirty! Biggs is also decent, and don't forget the guy who gave that homeless murder victim a place to sleep and wants to organize her burial. Everyone else is dumb though, I agree. Also I love this game and it's never too late to experience it!

I clocked in multiple hours on this game. Why am I the only one that might be the only one that plays this game to this day.

I am 75% through it on my PS5 and have 6 hours 30 mins so far… If I didn’t play it as a kid , this game would be so bad. I love the series so much that I am playing through it for PlayStation trophies. It’s the worst game out of the first 3 Jak games. IMO

I'm playing through the game currently and I agree with all your points. I think pacing definitely suffers with the story and the way missions are done, at least at the start - lots of (what's going on)(go do this mission, maybe it will help me)(ok are you going to tell me what's going on yet)(no we're not going to talk about it at all, go do this mission). That being said, I am really enjoying myself playing it. I keep trying to indulge myself in the hub world.... but there really isn't much there and I'm willing to accept it now that you mention it. Jak and Daxter's strengths were that every place you visited had so much character and mystique about it, something that's very much lost on this game (without all the precursors and sage stuff). Really looking forward to finishing my playthrough. I'm on the hoverboard bomb throwing mission and I gotta say... Definitely in competition for worst missions in the game - as most hoverboard missions have been for me so far.

My first Ratchet & Clank game was or rather is the 2016 reimagining. In 2024, i'm still paying it, 3rd playthrough. It's just big dumb fun.

I just played it for the first time, this was my first Ratchet & Clank game ever. I had so much fun, I was almost mad when I finished it. Rarely been this entertained by a game, I laughed at the gameplay in a good way all the time, the guns are so delightfully dumb. The story was fine and I loved the way it was told through Qwark but the way some parts were thrown at you was a bit lacking, like when you get caught and ''simply go home''. I went like, ok sure but, how and why ? Other than that it was real good.

Why would it be?

It's never too late to play Halo. Just play legendary at your own risk. Most of them are ridiculous on legendary. Heroic is a nice middle ground of fair, challenging difficulty. I miss playing Halo for the first time.

Just started playing it again yesterday for the 3rd time. I seem to come back every 5 years or so. Such a brilliant and underrated game ! Some amazing storylines and missions throughout

So what's a good alternative in 2024? I like the action/adventure games with interaction and choices. Or should i just restart this on ps5?

I think I got this game in like 2004 ( there were already Jak 3 trailers) and it must have taken me at least a couple of months, mostly because I didn't play super often ( back then when I booted up the ps2 I was with friends so we were more keen on multiplayer stuff, like the DBZ Tenkaichi games), but also because, indeed, Jak 2 can be merciless. Missions that kicked my ass the most: Tank mission The one where you have to escort 4 Underground agents around Escort the kid to the Power Station Mar's tomb The escort mission with Krew's boys ( by far the toughest) Last but not least....underport. Endgame is easy after that imo

This game is an absolute joy to play. I hate the hate it gets. Great gameplay. Beautiful graphics. Brings back features from across the whole series. I actually wouldn't call it a remake, reboot, or remaster. Maybe a soft reboot at best, but that would imply it changed the direction of the series, which it doesn't affect the game before it or after it at all. The game is presented as a story being told by one of the biggest liars in the universe, of course it won't match Ratchet's experience in the first game. To me it's always just been the next game in the series.

Personally I just hate this new version of Ratchet as a character. This version of Ratchet is just a generic “I wanna be a hero” compared to the original Ratchet who was brash, Selfish and funny

Gameplay is fine, graphics are fine, it is generally just fine overall _(although a notable flaw unrelated to story you forgot to mention was that they replaced all the music from the original with generic orchestral slop)._ But it's the completely butchered character writing and story that ruins the experience. Sorry, but those aren't inconsequential or dismissible factors, which are in my opinion so unforgivably bad in this case that it's easily solidified as one of the worst games in the series. What they did to Ratchet's character in particular should be covered by the Geneva convention. Corrosive genericism is probably the easiest way to summarize the issues with the game. They took a beautifully flawed product oozing with character and charm, and lobotomized it for mass consumption. Even without comparing it to the original, on it's own merits, that absence is still felt in the overly smoothed and toothless product we got. I remember there was a youtuber, I forget his name, who did a multi-hour long review of the 2016 game that covered all these lost nuances quite well. I didn't agree with absolutely everything he said, but it was really good coverage regardless, 90% was right on the money.
