dude! Deadlocked is my favorite, I've been clamoring for a new dreadzone style game for years. What I love about deadlocked is its infinite replayablity, almost like an arcade game. Nearly every aspect can be replayed instantly on different difficulties making this game essentially like one big arcade shooter. Its never gotten old. I doubt insomniac will make a new deadlocked style game, but man would that be sick on the ps5.. like holy hell.. Great video BTW :D
Lesgoooo. Deadset when I played this as a kid I would just finish it, immediately start a challenge mode and just go again to the point where it wasn’t until I replayed it again now that I could remember where the start and end were because it all just blurred together back then. Hey, maybe they’ll piss off the other ratchet fans and blow the 20th anniversary on a deadlock remake haha. Thank you mate, appreciate it!!
As much as I love the R&C classic trilogy, I'm a huge fan of Ratchet Gladiator (Deadlocked) because the story is really intresting , it has a dark tone on the gameplay and soundtrack, and the best part is that it has the best combat system & controls the franchise ever had. Also I just want to mension that, I don't really feel that it's a spin off, I think the game just belongs to the classic trilogy (so I believe it's actually a Quatrilogy and not Trilogy), I'm gonna say from my personal experience this game is ESSENTIAL a.k.a Must be played, for people who like (at least) the Classic R&C games (PS2 era).
Yeah, those controls are tight as. It’s a shame the PS3 port is so visually buggy because the trilogy port was done really well. Yeah I reckon you’re correct in that it’s not technically a spin-off, but it feels like Sony had some buyers remorse when you look at it amongst all the ratchet and clank games. They definitely didn’t do themselves any favours by not including it in the HD trilogy collection, I think that was the biggest thing that made people stop thinking of the ps2 games as a quadrilogy in the first place. Also thank you for watching and leaving a comment bro, really appreciate it! Hope you enjoyed 😊
It's the best spin-off for sure, but not the best R&C game. It does have the best combat of all the PS2 games, and it was a good mix-up for the series that allowed us to be more excited for the eventual return to form of ToD.
Oh man, the hype I had for ToD was absolutely unreal. Remember basically nothing about it now though so excited to go back to it after checking out the sly games. Thanks for watching and commenting as well!
Duuuuuude, all the anxiety I had that this was going to be an unpopular opinion has now fizzled away thanks to you. What a legend. Super underrated game, definitely still fun playing today
I remember first seeing my cousins play it when we were young and always wanted the game. Because I was a die hard ratchet and clank fan but a couple years later when I got the game on ps3 I ended up not liking it and never got back to game until I went on a R&C Binge again years later and that’s when I really realized how fun the game was and how much replay value it had. Now that I’m older I appreciate it much more though it isn’t my favorite out of the series it’s still very fun and recommend it to anyone who hasn’t played it. And it had a good length. It was definitely the most linear out of the series up to that point but ofc it was meant to be. Would’ve been really cool if they added platforming challenges into the mix though, like a whole planet dedicated to it or something utilizing some of the gadgets in the game more like the grind rails
Yeah great take, I agree dude. I think one of the missed opportunities that probably wouldn’t happen if the game was releasing today was the variety of challenges. I think there was definitely an opportunity for other types of mini games or game modes then we got. Even imagine a capture the flag style challenge based on the multiplayer from UYA, just small things like that would have made it just the little bit more satisfying
Deadlocked was great but I think the last masterpiece was Going Commando, Deadlocked is too gloomy, and doesn't really feel like an adventure, going to different planets serves no story purpose beyond go here and kill dudes (For the most part), they stripped away a lot of what I loved about the series in favor of a more focused experience, It's more satisfying mechanically but it's missing what made the first 2 games amazing, sure, they didn't have perfectly polished shooting mechanics, but It made up for it by having the complete package. Deadlocked is like having a bunch of candy, the first two games are like having a gourmet cheesecake.
Bro how good is candy though? For real but, I said the exact same thing to my wife when I was playing it and asked 'what is even the point of going to different planets, wouldn't it make sense for it to just take place all on the one planet?' I personally think Rift Apart is going to be tough to beat as a 'complete package' game, but I guess that depends on everyones take on Rivet and some other areas. I'll get to it eventually im sure haha
This game has a full Co-op campaign. Which is really weird since this is the only game with Clank out of the title so you wouldn't expect it. Still game has co-op so it just wins by default, it's science that adding a friend improves a game lol.
I'm surprised it's being seen as a spin off for some. It's a clear continuation from Up your arsenal, you even see Dr. Nefarious in the end floating in space. Insomniac just took a risk and made a different kind of Ratchet & Clank (let's be real they were hardly about Clank, he was mostly there to drive the story). To this day the game I replayed the most is Up your arsenal, but Gladiator is second in place. And it's really hard to compare such games since imo they scratch a kind of different itch. For a good adventure I'll always be picking 2 and 3, Gladiator is there to satisfy that non stop action part. Been a while since I played all ps2 R&C games but I remember Gladiator being noticeably shorter than the rest. Nothing wrong with that but it was the reason I had less hours with it.
I agree, the very start and the very end of the game tie directly in to 3 and I think in some regions it even released just as Ratchet and Clank 4. I think for me why it’s easier to consider it a spin off is because the way it connects almost feels like an afterthought (think metal gear solid survive where they get whisked from main cannon to an alternate world at the beginning). But the big shift I think happened post release where they made the choice to bundle the remaster as a trilogy and leave deadlocked out to dry. That’s when people started viewing the trilogy as ‘essential’ games and deadlocked as an optional one, which was always disappointing to me. Definitely, game is waaaay shorter overall, but because of the way it encourages you to pick up and play it again, i reckon it still lead to a longer play time for me overall
My only complaints about Deadlocked is that you can't customize the weapon wheel and some of the planets look dull and uninteresting. But those don't compare when you lay out the good aspects of it: the gameplay, the pacing, the storyline, and holy heck... THE MUSIC. Ratchet Deadlocked has my all time favorite soundtrack!
Yeah I feel the same way about weapon wheel and planet design but completely agree. I’m still yet to play a single player game that can make me jump straight back into a new game plus mode over and over again
I know Deadlock/Gladiator technically already has/had multiplayer, but I always thought the game, or a reboot, would work well as a primarily multiplayer game with cross-platform support. I know FFA exists, but I think Deadlock/Gladiator would just fit better.
Yeah would be interested in a more pvp focus to see what it’s like. I think we just skip straight to a gladiator/fall guys crossover and give the people what they want. Let’s not beat around the bush
@@HowGoodGames On that note, one game I've always wanted to see Ratchet and Clank crossover with would be Void Bastards. A third-person shooter rogue-like where Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark form a new Q-Force where recruits, i.e. various characters re-purposed from multi-player skins, explore randomized locals throughout the games' series to take on bad guys from previous games and scavenge modifiable weapons and components.
Wow, very surprised you have so few subscribers. Video was laid out extremely well, sound was a lot better than I was expecting for a small channel. You earned a sub from me. Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing the growth.
Hey thank you mate, really appreciate the comment and the sub! I’m taking the quality really serious, I want to put out stuff I’d be happy to waste my time watching so hopefully people don’t feel like I’m wasting their time! Cheers mate!
Amazing that this game came out as I was finishing my replay of UYA, about to move onto deadlocked. Deadlocked is my favourite, and I think you explained exactly why very well - the arcade framework really makes it infinitely replayability , and even the difficulty spikes in subsequent new games are manageable given the speed in which you upgrade your weapons. I reminder I used to have maxed out dual pistols and the entire screen would be full of colourful ricocheted bullets. Such a fun game!
Appreciate that mate! It is definitely a one of a kind game for the series and I’m so glad going back to it now it still holds up. Always get worried that games are better from memory than the actually are, but this one is just as good as when I first played it. Definitely an amazing game! Thanks for watching and commenting brother!
I have a revolutionary idea for Sony's single player games: let us customize/create everything in the game, give us a creative mode with some basic tools like placing down ennemies, walls, simple structures, checkpoints, changing all the stats, changing the win conditions, leaderbords and up to 4 player multiplayer. Make every game like Little Big Planet but simpler: you have your base game for $60-70€ With a bonus online multiplayer with user generated content gamemodes/stories/FUN. It will make the player retention much higher so to compensate we could have an advanced tool DLC for 4.99 or some skin packs. Now imagine playing hide and seek in sargasso in the next Ratchet & Clank, playing tag in Spider man 2 or racing with friends in the next Horizon.
You should check out dreams if you haven’t had a chance already. It’s basically that sort of idea in that you can create anything you want to in there with easy to learn tools and some of the fan things that have been made through it are insane, and I think it’s basically all free once you own the game. It was even made by media molecule, the dev team that made little big planet! It’s a very cool idea though
@@HowGoodGames I have but it can't hook me like LBP or Minecraft did. The fun of creative modes comes from limitations, minecraft has selected voxel blocs, LBP has a sackboy in a 2.5D space. When making a thing with those limitation you have fun but DREAMS is literraly Blender 3D with no single player campain to hook you in, no limitation, no fun. That's why i think every game should have a little bonus, it also allow Sony to have more control so they don't have legal fights with Nintendo over "Mario vs Shrek" or "Kirby is fucking dead"
BTW anyone find it funny how this game removes Clank's name in the title despite him being just as much of a part of the game's narrative as the games before it, yet when Quest For Booty came out and even though Clank still gets his name in the title, he only appears in literally two cutscenes in total?
Yeah it’s double standards hey. If I had to guess, insomniac realised that when a games title ‘sounded’ like a spin-off, it didn’t perform as well. I reckon that’s why all4one and full frontal assault are still Ratchet and Clank games, you wouldn’t know they were different from the others until you started actually playing
Funny enough, deadlocked still sold pretty well. Sold over 2 million copies and got a greatest hits release in North America, PAL regions, Japan, and Korea. It sold more than Jak 2, 3, or any sly cooper game. Pretty sure it sold more copies than even tools of destruction on PS3. Kind of surprised to see people saying it sold bad.
Oh yeah, definitely didn’t sell badly by any stretch and like you said, outperformed lots of other series. I think they still would have been comparing it to the trilogy though and it still sold less than any of those three had to that point. So even with good sales, for them I think I wouldn’t be surprised if it was considered as ‘underperforming’ given the success of the franchise and being the worst selling game out of those first 4 titles
Yea, this one is honestly my favorite RnC game, even though its a tad different from the first 3, pacing is great, combat feels just as good if not better compared to 3, would take off points for some moments in game where on ps2 the game would chug in some challenges but always find it hilarious cause the console couldn't handle the amount of awesome going on in game Swear I've played this one about 100 times and still never get bored or tired of it
Hahaha yeah it is a pretty awesome game. It’s crazy that for the most part it was running 60fps as well, makes sense as to why everything look a little more bland and less detailed
I played this game for the first time on PS+ streaming and love it top to bottom. Even after getting the platinum trophy I simply had to keep playing until finally beating every mission on exterminator difficulty thus unlocking Ninja Ratchet skin. My only gripes seem to be with the HD port being poorly adapted with graphical glitches and horrible slowdown at times.
Your content is stellar dude 👌🏻 discovered you through your jak and daxter videos. Keep it up my man, can defo see your subscriber count climbing and climbing!
Thank you my guy, really appreciate it! Just starting to edit Tools of Destruction now, will have it up in about 12 hours hopefully so hope to see you back for it!
Ratchet Deadlock an awesome game I love how each Ratchet and Clank has a unique aspect/feature to it like Deadlocked biggest focus is on weapon mods while others may be on puzzle or mini games etc.
And the output, like these first 4 games all spent a year only in development before releasing, like that’s basically illegal today and they produced such great results.
Lesgooo dude, split screen is life! I wish they brought multiplayer back to the series, I think there is a perfect opportunity to next game now the series has dual protagonists anyway
My favorite ratchet switches between 2, 3, and 4 constantly. 1 is high tier but not as fun. Tools of Destruction and Nexus are alright, but they're just so mediocre. Ratchet PS4 is only fun to play if you have no other game to play. Never tried crack in time. That's my takes on the games themselves. This game is definitely one of the better ones but I don't think they should do it a second time. Makes this one unique. I was never fond of saying "og trilogy + deadlocked" since I never felt this game to be THAT different. The Japanese version is called ratchet and clank 4, not sure why fans would exclude it that way. Also not a fan of calling it a spin off since it's just as much a main game as the others (also I would not dare group this masterpiece with all 4 one and full frontal assault). The speedruns for this game are probably the least exciting between the og quadrilogy but they still have some neat stuff. Cool little thing is that on PS3 only, there's a way to skip all the way to ghost station from a new file. Makes the game 6 minutes long.
That sounds typical of the ps3 version haha. I think it’s tough to go wrong with any of the games, the ps3 entries are the ones I spent the least time with. They were all one and done where as almost every other title had multiple spin offs. Yeah, I think it deserves to be ratchet and clank 4, but every decision that was made in development and even post the games release feel like it was experimenting with something different. We will never know for sure, but I feel like if it had have been called Ratchet and Clank 4 in other markets it would have been considered an even bigger black sheep of the family then some people think it is now
@@HowGoodGames The galactic rangers were quite funny, yeah! Don't ask me about the later games though, Gladiator was my last R&C. I never got a PS3 or higher.
Daaaaaamn, I would say definitely worth picking up an old ps4 second if you can get one cheap. Most of the games are on ps now if you get that in your country and there are a lot of other great first party games to make it worth the investment!
Yoooo, been a minute! You absolutely should, it is a super fun ride. Honestly as well, the PS3 port of this is so dodgy, emulation is probably the best way to go for this one anyway. You will love it if you enjoy the combat and the arena stuff especially from the PS2 era. Thanks mate, really appreciate it! You're like my first real supporter so legit means alot that you keep coming back and saying hi!
@@HowGoodGames if the remaster isn’t so good, might boot it on my actual PS2 (the thing is old enough to vote and still working somehow?) Always happy to see something new pop up from you mate! You not only played the Jak games but also made **four** videos on them, therefore you have my full support by default lol. Love from Melbourne!
Thank you mate, really appreciate the support! Definitely want to give anyone wasting their time on me something they’ll hopefully enjoy at a good quality. Means a lot you saying so!
This is my favourite R&C game! Me and my cousin used to play this all the time on Co-op and it gave me memories I’ll never forget Still the best weapon progression and customization in the series imo
Lesgoooo sgt foley! You have great taste if I do say so myself. The weapon upgrade trees with raritanium in recent games is cool, I’d rather have it then not, but it is just making your fun more powerful in a bunch of ways. The fun of coop and the system in gladiator is that you can have some weapons but each function very differently with mods, so you can be strategic with your load outs as well
I mean it basically was, PS3 only came out 2 years later and we never got close to another deadlocked style game since. Thanks for watching and commenting, really appreciate you taking the time!
@@HowGoodGames Good point! The transition between the ps2 and ps3 sometimes get blurred in my head since the ps3 was so expensive on release. You’ve earned a subscriber! I’m just waiting for this weekend to binge your videos haha. I like your style
@@literalcharlie4171 what a legend! Thanks so much, pulling my hair out getting another one ready to hopefully go up tomorrow night, hope you enjoy them!
This was one of the first games I got on my PS2 back in the day and my first ratchet and clank game, absolutely loved it and still play it on PS2 to this day. I also baught the original trilogy for PS2 absolutely brilliant games just a shame I didn't play them years ago.
Lesgooo, always great to hear that there are PS2's in operation out there still fighting the good fight. I did a whole series on the original trilogy as well and definitely came to the conclusion its certainly not to late to play them now, at least you got to them eventually! Thanks for watching and commenting Chikin, really appreciate it!
It's one of the best ones, for me; Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked, what I found great about the PS2 games in particular is every game that progressed got more shooter-action focused in it's gameplay, the tone of the games dialed more darker and adult, people treated Deadlocked like it did somethin' wrong but it didn't do anythin' different, this shift already happened with the previous game, it's got the same corrupted corporate worldbuildin' and edgy humour as before.
I think now more than ever, a Ratchet and Clank story not necessarily focused on saving the world, but focusing on making a better world/galaxy, would be great. Go back to the corporate/media mogul storylines that you can have so much fun with and I think that would be such a great way to keep maturing the story in a subtle way too
Gladiator is one of my favorite Ratchet and clank games for sure. Most risk, if not all pay off really well, the gameplay feels much more polished than Ratchet and clank 3, replaying Ratchet Gladiator, new gaming a fresh save on unlocked difficulty "Exterminator" is a real challenge but I have played through so many playthroughs of that on a fresh save throughout my teen years, with me recently trying to beat a no death run on Exterminator difficulty (No luck yet and I usually die before even getting to the Avenger tornament at times, with my best at half way through the game so yeah, gonna be tough lol), but enough rambling about that. Overall, I love the wide variety of difficulty selections, and to this day, I believe only one game did this, which was Ratchet and Clank 2016, and that game only had Easy, Normal, Hard, along with that game being... Well, kinda shit. Another thing that I absolutely love about Gladiator, is Ratchet's armor. He looks so damn cool. Especially in black, green or red. I love them all, but I think those three armor sets there really stand out. But personally I would have to choose the green one as my favorite because I am extremely nostalgic, and sentimental towards it lmao. And I almost forgot to mention the music. Easily, EASILY, one of the best Ratchet and clank ost if not the best. Outstanding work by the composer. David better have gotten a raise for that soundtrack. As for wanting a game like Gladiator in the future. Absolutely. Would love to see a return of a Ratchet and clank game similar to it. It's really good.
Love this comment, super agree especially with the armour especially playing it as a kid. Any sort of full body armour I thought was just the most badass thing in the world (my power rangers of choice were the often overlooked lightspeed rescue team, but any armour was just epic to me). I think I am one of the people that really enjoyed the 2016 version, I totally agree the story was a let down, but just in terms of its gameplay and visuals I really did enjoy it. I would love to see how you go with your no death run. You should try record your footage and turn it in to something! I normally see the end result of a no death run and just watch the run, but it would be cool to have an accompanying video showing the journey of how long, how many tries, what you were learning, etc. That would be epic!
For that no death run, I unfortunately don't have any capture cards for my PlayStation 2, nor would it be very fun to try record on the PS2. I could emulate, problem is, framerates too inconsistent and it usually lags anyways. Makes me wish the PS2 R&C games came on PC. Agreed right there. The armour still looks cool as hell to this day, even as a more cynical and more critical adult these days. Nice job on Insomniac on it. 2016 isn't too terrible, but I do personally find it more bad than good. The gameplay feels pretty nice, however, it's drawn down by the annoying dialogue by everyone all the time, jarring tutorials and some cut backs, with there only being one armor you can get in the game from my knowledge. It's what draws me away from the game unfortunately. I did beat the game and did have a fun time for the most part despite it all though.
PlayStation just announced their headline games for the new ps plus services and no mention of the original quadrilogy anywhere. At this point it’s either a sick joke or they are leaving it out because they have something bigger coming. Depending on your country you can stream and play those ps plus games through pc, so if they ever came to that service that could be your ticket
Ratchet & Clank is one of my favourite series of all time, my personal favourite is Ratchet & Clank going commando aka 2, but RAC deadlock idk probably comes of second, it’s the most badass game out of any RAC ever, still felt long enough for me as like the other games, and this RAC game funny enough can be either the easiest or the hardest RAC on the ps2 era, because you can select difficulty options unlike every other RAC ps2 game which it makes it more unique and the exterminator difficulty (extreme difficulty) is ridiculous! On 2 or 3 hits you die regardless of how much health you have lol, all the weapons feel so heavy and powerful and there’s 10 weapons allthough not that many weapons theres the modifications for them which must have been so much hard work for the developers to make it be able to costumize any weapon you actually liked, and they look awesome that way and adjust your weapons how’d you liked, the combat is the best I ever seen on a RAC game, I loved RIFT apart a lot on everything about it pretty much but deadlock is a better game in my opinion than rift apart, the OST is something that has never done again on a rac game, it’s truly some dark and badass songs that David Bergeaud composed, truly makes it feel RAC deadlock with him, it truly improves the game ambience for me, the songs are so good it sets up the tone of this dark RAC game so well, surprises me they made 4 games of this pretty much quality on just 4 constant years, I still love the newest RAC just I think we should go back to what RAC used to be, badass, cartoony, charming, the new RAC is awesome and kinda returned to its old roots which is good, however something about it just still makes me find the older games more charming and simpler and charming, hopefully they make RAC deadlock 2 or something, I loved deadlock so much 💖
Thanks for sharing man, really enjoyed reading that. I think there is so much nostalgia for me tied to the ps2 originals that even if they were to remake them or try to do a similar style today, it would feel like it was still missing something. I reckon majority of people asking for the series to go ‘back to its roots’ would probably experience it as well. That’s why it’s so easy to love the new games because I still think it’s the best version of what we could get. But man oh man, I would love another take or even a sequel to deadlocked. Like you said, combat and gunplay was just ‘chefs kiss’. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Dude, I had a multi tap when this game came out, and we used to play it 4 player split screen local. It turned into the go to game after James Bond / Turok on N64 . I SPENT hours in this game. Best multiplayer shoooter I’ve ever played. Every death felt fair, you could get in melee range and not die if you were skillled. Awesome game design
Bruh a multi tap? Lesgoooo! I agree the design is schmick as. I played the local multiplayer of UYA with my wife for that video, and it was fun but it was a bit unbalanced. With some of the map design and the sniper rifle I could just camp and clean up. She didn’t like it but I’m a grub like that
@@HowGoodGames oh yeah thats cold, did the wifey dirty 😭 if there was a way to get this ratchet game a multiplayer community again, it’d be amazing, wish i could time travel 🥲
Yeah, I feel worse about it the more I look back on it. And the more I reflect, the more I think I could have finished that game with less pointing and laughing…
Yeah everyone here has been saying how many times the replayed it, I’m convinced it has maybe the best gameplay loop as an overall game out of anything. It’s almost like a rogue lite but without resetting your progress and it weirdly works
The first game will always be my favorite, but Deadlocked is a very close second because to this day it still has the best combat out of any game in the series. The weapon sandbox is tightly designed and playing on higher difficulties ensures you will make the most out of all the tools at your disposal. I'm still baffled as to why people who enjoyed Up Your Arsenal's linear combat-focused levels would turn their nose up at Deadlocked because it's basically a much more refined and focused version of what Up Your Arsenal was trying to be.
I've played every single ratchet and clank game(except for rift apart[no ps5 sadge])and I can say without a doubt that deadlocked/gladiator was the most fun. its not my favourite due to nostalgia but it definitely has the best combat in all of the games, including the newer ones
Like the commentators and all the ads the play during it, even some big al moments are hilarious. It is one of the funniest games in the series I think, probably the most underrated part about it
I kinda go between this, UYA and GC a lot but i'd say it's probably my favorite if push comes to shove. The improvements to the combat and weapon streamlining just make it a really fun time for me, especially since i've always felt the series handled it's shooting elements better than the platforming after the first game. I'm just sad none of the games that came after it came back to the kinetic and fast paced feeling this one had. They're still fun but they often feel a bit slow and floaty by comparison.
Especially with how much you use the hover pack, removing it entirely had a big impact on the floaty feel as well. Even though it was always player initiated, the levels and combat were designed in a way where you needed to give yourself that hang time
@@HowGoodGames these days I spend some of my gaming time platinuming all of them lol still haven't got a PS5 let alone played rift apart lol but I've done all but a crack in time and tools of destruction cause my PS3 needs an og PS3 controller for the sixasis thingy lol
I played through the whole PS2 series with my best mate, so when they eventually added multiplayer, and having this entire game be playable in co-op was absolutely unreal. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment Qartas! Hope you enjoyed the video!
I think there is a real case to be made that I wouldn’t have made friends as a kid if Ratchet Gladiator didn’t have coop. Also shoutout to you for using its correct name, I feel like a fraud calling it deadlocked when responding to all the comments lol. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, means a lot!
Well if all the servers go down and we can only preserve 3 physical Ratchet games, then... that's unfortunate, but super stoked that one of them would be Deadlocked. Thanks for watching and commenting, really appreciate it!
I talk this one over with my self every week, it is really good, not for what made the original one so special but it's really good. I haven't played any of the PS3, ones or rift apart
While I wouldn’t waste your time with the ps3 spin off games, the mainlines ones are a proper good time. Some have their flaws or are way to short, but it’s more of the same at the end of the day with different tweaks here and there. Should definitely look into emulating or depending on your country, most ps3 games except ToD are available through ps now/ps plus tiers and you can do it through your computer as well. I’m going to be covering them off after I do the sly trilogy, so you should definitely give them a go and let me know what you thought when those videos drop!
My favourite is the OG first game, but I played the hell out of Gladiator... I probably beat that game like at least 25 times over. It has tons of action but it still has some platforming mixed in, especially in the Dreadzone arena challenges
I think even if I deep down enjoyed another ratchet and clank game more, gladiator is hands down the one I replayed the most thanks to the weapons going up to v99. Especially as a kid, I legitimately didn’t know how high it would go cause I was a dumb kid, so it was exciting seeing how far you could push them.
Yeah, shame we won’t. Maybe we would get something if it was outsourced to another studio, but that rarely ends well honestly. Thanks for watching and commenting brother!
I personally prefer Ratchet 1 and 3 over Deadlocked/Gladiator...but not by a lot tbh, I've grown up with 1, 3 and Gladiator specifically, so I have nostalgia bias when it comes to all three of them anyways, but even though Gladiator is my least favorite of my 3 favorites, I still think it has its strengths over the other games in very important areas. the biggest example of strength imo that Gladiator has over the rest of the series is that I think it has the absolute BEST collection of weapons as well as the best weapon system in the series and quite possibly, EVERY game ever, almost every weapon is a banger (no pun intended), ESPECIALLY the Scorpion/Leviathan Flail, which is my favorite weapon in the entire series and the leveling up system combined with the weapon modding system is some of the most fun I've had playing this series. Gladiator is an extremely underrated game that's for sure.
Yeah, its like splitting hairs I've found with this franchise, every time I play a game I'm like 'ok well I think that ones my favourite' and I feel like I do that almost every game
Deadlocked and the 2002 original have always been tied as my top favourites, so far the only ones to challenge them for that spot are ACiT and Rift Apart and those come pretty damn close. As much as I'd love to see a "Deadlocked 2", I doubt Insomniac and Sony would be interested in a spinoff considering how much of a success the mainline Rift Apart was (1.1 million units sold in its first month!).
Totally, and you add on top of that Spiderman and that they have announced a Wolverine game as well, they are going to be busy little bees juggling 3 whole franchises at the same time, which quite frankly is just unheard of. With that said though, isn't it crazy that after 20 years of Ratchet and Clank, the most recent (and most expensive to develop I would think) only just almost comes close to being better than the original? That's a damn high bar they set for themselves. Thanks for the comment Skehrcro, hope to see you around for some more videos!!
It's called deadlock and I'm going to die on this hill. Gladiator as a name took all of 2 seconds to come up with. "What should we name this book that's about sailing? Oh I know, boat!!!!"
I don’t even get why the changed it, deadlocked is such an obscure innuendo already. I had to look up on urban dictionary to see if it even was a joke (don’t look it up on urban dictionary)
Wow up there for all time favourite game is a huuuuge call, but Im to scared to even try to decide what mine would be. Love the hell out of this game and respect the hell out of where you are placing it
While playing the pa2 games, that was rhe only game i knew nothing about (I saw let's play of the first three) and I must say I don't get the hate for deadlock, sure it don't have as much exploration but since it's not the point it's great, played on the hardest difficulty (before the new game+ one) after finishing the trilogybsome weeks before and I still had lot of trouble, it's a fun and challenging game even for people that play ratchet a lot, the weapons were all pretty useful. And it still have more platforming than rift apart
Yeah it was the victim of comparison, and the spinoffs the do well can break that mold. You look at spin offs like Persona or The Sims even and they do things quite differently to the games they spun off from, even though they share those similar elements. For the most part, spin offs normally get the 'but I liked it more the way it was' rather than being looked at as its own thing like you said. Thanks for the comment Susato! Hope you enjoyed the video!
@@HowGoodGames Yeah I had low expectations for that reaon, compared to the first three a lot, I was surprised by how fun and solid the game was, lot of charm
@@HowGoodGames another game similar to ratchet deadlocked is metal arms: glitch in the system. Mandaloregaming and cvit made nice videos about it and i belive you should give it a shot. Definately deserves to have a spot with the ps2 big boys
Me too mate. Fingers crossed we get something for 20th anniversary this year. The ps3 trilogy was done in celebration of the 10th, so you’d think they’d be saving it for something like this…
Thanks for the feedback mate, honestly just ran out of time for this video. In my last few review videos tried to have a mix of game soundtracks and other background music, but want to balance what people will like with my own editing identity as well but definitely something to keep working on. Appreciate the comment mate!
And something else about Deadlocked/Gladiator… It actually works as a FPS and it is so fucking fun! I don't say this often, but… I prefer playing this game in FPS mode!
Let’s be fair dinkum, I didn’t even know the ps2 games had it as an option because I didn’t see it in the bonus section, I ran around with it on for a bit and it felt super off. Gladiator is the perfect use case for that though
@@HowGoodGames Yeah, I will admit that it feels off in Going Commando/Locked & Loaded and Up Your Arsenal... But I genuinely enjoy it in Deadlocked/Gladiator. Strafe-Lock Mode, on the other hand, just feels weird all-around.
I get that, when I played Spider-Man, I was like ‘it’s such a shame it’s so good, cause now we won’t get more ratchet’. Then when they had the teaser for miles at ps5 launch I was like well there goes that. Then to find out that rift apart was going to be coming in the launch window?? Mainline games definitely have a different level of hype to them
Yeah it’s insane that they’re still so tough to get your hands on, scalpers are the worst. Hope you are able to get one at a fair price sooner, rift apart is definitely a great game
Yeah I feel that, I’m in Australia and console alone is $1100. Even that sounds like a better deal though compared to what you got, which I never thought I’d say about those prices
I'm speechless I didn't think there was this many people who liked deadlocked I'm glad I found my people funny enough deadlocked was my first introduction into the series.favorite game by far
You have no idea, when I was posting this I thought I'd get absolutely dragged like when I said I didn't like Jak 2, so its been amazing reading and chatting to everyone about such an absolute banger of a game. Since you started with this, did the other games feel off to you at the start?
@@Flesh_Wizard Yeah man! Check this video out if you get a chance, goes through how you can play every game in the series, but deadlocked is time stamped so you can just get the info straight away if you want ua-cam.com/video/mAC751Bsz3k/v-deo.html
I love the balance between platform and action in the first game, after that almost every game was pure action with a bit of platforming and I'm not a fan of that route, I should hate deadlocked since it removes the platforming and focus in the shooting aspect, but that's why its so awesome, they put all the effort in the combat and it shows, for me its better when they make one thing but its done perfectly than making a jack off al trades master of none, yeah is not a ratchet and clank game anymore but it didn't pretend it, the title already says just ratchet which is a very subtle way to tell you that you shouldn't expect a regular game on the series, just like the psp game agent secret clank this game definitely deserves more love, imagine it with all the cut content and the original structure completed, but after the 2016 remake I don't have faith in sony keeping the game, the characters and humor as great as they are
Mate lesgooo, agree agree agree. I think for me it’s special because like you said, fans of this series should hate it but so many of us bloody love it, that is no easy feat. I think my faith is restored with Rift Apart and insomniac is just a class studio with Spider-Man as well, I think that they’ll do right by the characters. BUT I think gone is the chance we ever get another deadlocked style game from that studio
@@HowGoodGames amen, now the key word is from that studio, it may be more in tone with the original trilogy but the battle in solana project gives me hope that deadlocked could have a second chance too
So your opinion is kind of like this: 'I really like Ratchet and Clank games like A Crack In Time, but this one in this video has to be my favourite'. Btw, what's your second favourite Ratchet and Clank game?
Dude playing them in order and reviewing one before the next is what has resulted in, this one’s the best, no wait, this one’s the best! I’ll tell you right now, if I was to give you the 3 best and my 3 favourite, that would be two seperate lists. I think though I would have to go with Crack In Time as my second favourite after deadlocked
You and me both Hattori, unless Insomniac outsourced it they just don't have the time for spinoffs these days, and we don't need to unleash another secret agent clank onto the world. Not when we are only just starting to get over covid
If more people viewed flawed games like you, the world would legitimately be a kinder place. I think this is my favourite response or comment I’ve gotten on this channel so far haha
@@HowGoodGames I mean just like at Sonic 06 with p06 and Sonic Forces with Sonic Forces Overclocked peopleare starting to see the missed potential of bad games and try to fix them as much as possible
I think Deadlocked was a great game for a one off thing. A large part of what made rift apart so damn good was because it built off of everything the series has done as a whole. There are even some dedicated combat sections without clank as a callback to deadlocked. My biggest issue with it is, because of how short it is, it can start to really drag on and start feeling repetetive after a few runs. Also avoid the PS3 remaster at all costs, its awful. Just stick with the original PS2 version.
Bro where were you a month ago, I played the whole thing through the ps3 port and thought it all ran a bit shit. Wasn’t till I put together my how to play every ratchet video that I learnt it wasn’t my imagination and it was in fact; an awful port
@@HowGoodGames The PS3 ports are pretty bad. They're better for casual play though because there's lass lag from weapon swapping (except for this game, which can freeze if you do that unless you play on an SSD), and the loads are better, including planet loads and black screens. It's a shame the cutscenes are fucked else this would be better in every way.
It's my least favorite game of the franchise. Like you said it removed a lot of features from the other games and it mostly lacking of platforming. But i reconsider playing it again and I still want insomniac games to make a Deadlocked 2 or remake of this. It's a challenging game and has it's own combat core.
Yeah, it is very much a game seperate to the others and I think even though it is canonically Ratchet 4, they made the right call trying to put some distance between it and the original trilogy. Thanks for watching and commenting Infernox, appreciate your time!
I actually didn't like Gladiator much. I preferred the exploration and collecting of the games in the main series. But, that doesn't mean I think it's a bad game, it just wasn't for me.
Totally fair, huge departure from the rest of series and I while I loved it, its definitely a small doses game, I’m glad they kept to the traditional formula for the current games
I wouldn't mind it breaking off to do this now and then; go FPS with the platforming and Arena hacking and Slashing; so long as we're given the ability to MAKE OUR OWN CONTENT AND SHIT.... Like Combat maps and game modes!
Yeah, I’d love to see that too. It’s wild though, back in the day, games in a series would come out yearly so you could afford to have those spin-offs. Now in production though, games spend 3-5 years before you get the next one, so devs probably don’t have time for spin-offs these days.
@@HowGoodGames Well, back then, we didn't have to worry about things being pretty as most game had to compress texture's and meshes giving it far less detail; so developers had to focus on function over form; granted, it had to look good, but the 3D tools then only had so much and it's not so much time for spin-offs; its become un-affordable. Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft won't do spin-offs or experiment's anymore because they're relying on the large amounts of money from the fan's to keep up their current status as a business; which sad truth of it all is a company isn't your friend or soulmate or anything, they're purpose is to take your money in exchange for a product they produce. Ya mess up once at this point, it's sales that makes your company suffer and you have to make cut-backs, fire employee's and so on. In order for a Spin-Off to even take place now, it has to be a calculated risk and Deadlocked came along because Halo was changing the landscape to go FPS and abandon 3D platforming... Except Nintendo, they can take risk's and still make back what they lose from Super Mario Sunshine to Luigi's Mansion.... The latter's sequels kinda disappoint me. So now, we have Microsoft and Nintendo investing in 'indie' groups making their own games as they are 'calculated' risk's the companies don't have to take, they're risk's the indie folks are taking.
I didn’t think it was the best. The combat at some point felt repetitive, made worse by the fact that it didn’t have much to break up the combat, and the game over stayed its welcome a bit. Perhaps if they made a different game with the same concepts for this game, slightly more serious, and you’d get something around the level of Halo so I can see the appeal. The story was good, but slow in certain sections that bogged down the game. Think the one good memorable map that had some crazy good atmosphere was the phantom zone, but they don’t do much to explain the story behind it and by that point I personally was already getting tired of the constant combat. Overall, I’d prefer ToD for the story, GC for the world atmosphere, and UYA for the gun play.
Yeah fair assessment, definitely very like it/don’t like it thanks to the combat focus and there wasn’t much of an in between. I feel like it never really overstayed it’s welcome as opposed to I got distracted by other games, I always had an absolute blast. Cool hearing another take on it though, totally get where you’re coming from so thanks for watching and sharing!
The whole future saga and everything that comes after was a huge mistake in my opinion, the series ended for me with the last good game, Deadlocked. What really puzzels me why Sony (especially since they bought insomniac) fail to make the old ones all accessible for the ps4/ps5, i was really hoping for a 20th anniversary to be honest.
Same here. Literally a few hours ago Sony just put up a blog post with a bunch of the PS2/PS3 and PSP games that are going to be coming to their new PS Plus tiers and, while its not the complete list, it does focus on the headliner games and again, no mention of the original PS2 games. There is crack in time, into the nexus and quest for booty though like with PS Now. Im torn, because you would think if you were trying to sell a subscription to play PS2 games, having R&C there is a no brainer, so maybe they are planning on doing something big for the anniversary. It will be such a huge missed opportunity if they don't
All 4 One. Best game ever. Sold a trillion copies. All 4 One sweep. (Jk, my favorite is Up Your Arsenal, and Deadlocked/Gladiator is leagues better than All 4 One)
@@HowGoodGames I got so stoked for it before I even knew what the gameplay was. All I saw was “4 Player Ratchet and Clank game!!” And then I played the demo. Absolutely crushed
I honestly don't understand why people are still calling deadlocked a spinoff. It's clearly not, it's still part of the main timeline. Just because Clank's name isn't in the title, doesn't mean it's not part of the series. It's still a ratchet and clank game, people. It's no different from the previous games, minus the puzzles, platforming and such. Edit: And the story is continuing where UYA left off. God, it's like people don't know what's canon and what isn't. Sorry, it's just that of stuff pisses me off.
whoa excuse you caps lock, makes it sound like you're yelling. Yeah I get that it's officially number 4 but its pretty much only a sequel in name. By dropping the ‘and clank’ meant that it felt like they didn’t even consider it a sequel (which they didn't even do with other future spinoffs) and it feels loosely book ended with scenes that connect it to UYA. Then the kicker was it not even being included in the PS2 remastered collection. That’s the thing that cemented ‘trilogy + deadlocked’ instead of ‘quadrilogy’ in most peoples minds I reckon. That's why I say theres an argument to be made, since it feels like sony have gone out of their way to seperate it from the PS2 'trilogy'
@@HowGoodGames yeah I was trying to sound annoyed. While I don't think it's the best game ever, deadlocked is very fun, challenging, and more than worthy of a canonical place, especially more than all 4 one and ffa.
Yeah I get that it’s not officially a spin-off, but you could make the same argument that all A4O and FFA did was change the gameplay, they still even have the ratchet and clank name. With this one though, by dropping the ‘and clank’ meant that it felt like they didn’t even consider it a sequel, it feels loosely book ended with things that connect it to UYA. Then the kicker was it not even being included in the PS2 remastered collection. That’s the thing that cemented ‘trilogy + deadlocked’ instead of ‘quadrilogy’ in most peoples minds I reckon.
i disagree deadlocked was ok but the story was basically nonexistant and the arcade style that you liked with the menus for missions and the arena feel for any planet makes the game feel boring. i love the arenas but when its the whole game i cant help but get tired of it. thanks for the vid tho, cant wait for more. Edit: there is a story but it doesn't feel quite as impactful to the franchise to me personally
Yeah, I get why they had menus since it was basically an arcade style for its structure, but the menus themselves always felt the most off putting compared to the other games. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, glad to have you on board!!
It felt kinda the same with 3 on certain levels but honestly I love the Ratchet and clank series they are all great. No prob, your videos are great for nostalgia, and they give me the drive to go back at some of these games for the millionth time.
Thanks for watching and commenting as well!
i am in love with deadlocked, it has always been my favorite r&c game and im glad someone is actually talking about it again
Duuuuuude, all the anxiety I had that this was going to be an unpopular opinion has now fizzled away thanks to you. What a legend. Super underrated game, definitely still fun playing today
ayee, im glad someone actually spoke about it
I remember first seeing my cousins play it when we were young and always wanted the game.
@@HowGoodGames big facts would’ve made a lot of sense especially since this was a run an gun/action shooter, CTF would’ve been crazy
Umm, GC is really annoying to play. UYA and ACIT are way better.
This game has a full Co-op campaign. Which is really weird since this is the only game with Clank out of the title so you wouldn't expect it. Still game has co-op so it just wins by default, it's science that adding a friend improves a game lol.
Omg thats beautiful isn't it 'the best Ratchet and Clank game is... friendship' couldn't have said it better myself haha
I still don't understand why people consider this a spinoff.
Yep, the soundtrack turned me onto that kind of industrial music and the itch hasnt been scratched since
I know Deadlock/Gladiator technically already has/had multiplayer, but I always thought the game, or a reboot, would work well as a primarily multiplayer game with cross-platform support.
@@Alimem54 hahahahaha holy shit, I would play the hell out of a game called 'Kirby is fucking dead'. That gave me a good belly laugh, thanks for that
BTW anyone find it funny how this game removes Clank's name in the title despite him being just as much of a part of the game's narrative as the games before it, yet when Quest For Booty came out and even though Clank still gets his name in the title, he only appears in literally two cutscenes in total?
Yea, this one is honestly my favorite RnC game, even though its a tad different from the first 3, pacing is great, combat feels just as good if not better compared to 3, would take off points for some moments in game where on ps2 the game would chug in some challenges but always find it hilarious cause the console couldn't handle the amount of awesome going on in game
Swear I've played this one about 100 times and still never get bored or tired of it
Hahaha yeah it is a pretty awesome game.
Dude I was thinking the same! As a kid I enjoyed deadlock the most! I loved that I was able to play my favorite series split screen!
Lesgooo dude, split screen is life! I wish they brought multiplayer back to the series, I think there is a perfect opportunity to next game now the series has dual protagonists anyway
Loved gladiator, I remember playing that game through many, many times.
Great video!
Seems to be the way people did it, just such a satisfying loop that's so rare to find in single player games now hey. Thanks bro, appreciate it!
Definitely agree, I freaking love Gladiator 😍
Lesgooo, a man of great taste. Thanks for watching bro
We will never know for sure, but I feel like if it had have been called Ratchet and Clank 4 in other markets it would have been considered an even bigger black sheep of the family then some people think it is now
I had a lot of fun playing with my brother in coop. The bots are also really loveable in singleplayer.
They make good bots. The ones in UYA as well are so funny
I’ve still got to play this one! This video has me convinced
Btw, so good seeing your channel take off - the quality is top notch
Yoooo, been a minute! You absolutely should, it is a super fun ride. Honestly as well, the PS3 port of this is so dodgy, emulation is probably the best way to go for this one anyway. You will love it if you enjoy the combat and the arena stuff especially from the PS2 era.

This is my favourite R&C game! Me and my cousin used to play this all the time on Co-op and it gave me memories I’ll never forget
Still the best weapon progression and customization in the series imo
Lesgoooo sgt foley! You have great taste if I do say so myself. The weapon upgrade trees with raritanium in recent games is cool, I’d rather have it then not, but it is just making your fun more powerful in a bunch of ways. The fun of coop and the system in gladiator is that you can have some weapons but each function very differently with mods, so you can be strategic with your load outs as well
Deadlocked really was the end of an era. I still have that multiplayer lobby music stuck in my head lol

This was one of the first games I got on my PS2 back in the day and my first ratchet and clank game, absolutely loved it and still play it on PS2 to this day. I also baught the original trilogy for PS2 absolutely brilliant games just a shame I didn't play them years ago.

@@HowGoodGames Ps2 are built like a tank always keep going like the video man.
Go back to the corporate/media mogul storylines that you can have so much fun with and I think that would be such a great way to keep maturing the story in a subtle way too
@@HowGoodGames Couldn't agree more, that's what it needs.
I still find Crack in Time to be the overall best game in the series but I think Deadlocked has the most replay value of them all. It's so fun
Yeah everyone here has been saying how many times the replayed it, I’m convinced it has maybe the best gameplay loop as an overall game out of anything. It’s almost like a rogue lite but without resetting your progress and it weirdly works
I thought Juanita was going to be unveiled as Courtney Gears when I first played this game.
Going Commando also made me distrustful of character twists haha
This deserves more views

Thank you mate, appreciate it!
Before even watching just from the silhouette Yes yes it is banger soundtrack weapons are all great and who can't get enough of that.
Not me! Thanks for checking it out and for the comment mate, appreciate the time!
My favourites are Tools Of Destruction and A Crack In Time but Deadlocked (Gladiator) is also a really good game.
I prefer old games style of a platformer but I do love this game for the humor it keeps giving as you play the game.
Like the commentators and all the ads the play during it, even some big al moments are hilarious. It is one of the funniest games in the series I think, probably the most underrated part about it
Finally someone who agrees with me!! I loved the mods on the weapons
I enjoyed this game a lot for the fact it could be played entirely in coop, with second player being able to choose a whole bunch of characters.
Yeah, you could even play as Jak! I miss the days of single player skins, insomniac is one of the few studios that still does it now
Deadlock is one amazing spin-off tbh that I never got bored playing! Then again, all of Ratchet and Clank are some good games, even the first.
Yeah, I mean you can pick up almost any Ratchet and Clank game and have a blast, its pretty tough to go wrong there
@@HowGoodGames I know. Let's just say that it was definitely the best video game series that... I can't play for many reasons.
I started to R&C with this game and I LOVE IT!
Even though it was always player initiated, the levels and combat were designed in a way where you needed to give yourself that hang time
A crack in time was favorite how you could manually fly aphelion around the galaxies lol
Can’t wait to get to that game, barely remember it, hope it’s a new favourite
@@HowGoodGames these days I spend some of my gaming time platinuming all of them lol still haven't got a PS5 let alone played rift apart lol but I've done all but a crack in time and tools of destruction cause my PS3 needs an og PS3 controller for the sixasis thingy lol

Ratchet Gladiator was my 2nd most played in the series simply because it had a great co-op mode
My singular functional ps2 Ratchet disc aside from size matters and secret agent
Deadlocked is My Fav out of all the Ratchet and Clank series hands down its the best shame we wont get another banger like that again
Yeah, shame we won’t. Maybe we would get something if it was outsourced to another studio, but that rarely ends well honestly. Thanks for watching and commenting brother!
@@HowGoodGames Anytime Great Video
I want ratchet deadlock to be on the ps4/ps5❤ I love every ratchet and clank series
This game had a FPS mode that really tickled my pickle
great vid dude !

The game no doubt has some shortcomings but for various reasons it’s one of ,if not, my all time favorite GAME

I mean who is gonna say no to some Chien Po action right? Mulan is legit. Thanks for watching mate!
I love the balance between platform and action in the first game, after that almost every game was pure action with a bit of platforming and I'm not a fan of that route, I should hate deadlocked since it removes the platforming and focus in the shooting aspect, but that's why its so awesome, they put all the effort in the combat and it shows, for me its better when they make one thing but its done perfectly than making a jack off al trades master of none, yeah is not a ratchet and clank game anymore but it didn't pretend it, the title already says just ratchet which is a very subtle way to tell you that you shouldn't expect a regular game on the series, just like the psp game agent secret clank
this game definitely deserves more love, imagine it with all the cut content and the original structure completed, but after the 2016 remake I don't have faith in sony keeping the game, the characters and humor as great as they are
Mate lesgooo, agree agree agree. I think for me it’s special because like you said, fans of this series should hate it but so many of us bloody love it, that is no easy feat.

5:50 one of the best things about this game
I will take a less graphically demanding game for local coop any day of the week. Why Borderlands is still one of the favourites for me and my wife
@@HowGoodGames Some fans have restored the online Deadlocked Servers and made new maps and a new survivor game mode to it.
Could not agree with this more, and never really thought about Nintendo like that but you’re spot on. Really well said mate
Finally, a quality opinion.
I like to think so, but I’m biased
All 4 One. Best game ever. Sold a trillion copies. All 4 One sweep.
(Jk, my favorite is Up Your Arsenal, and Deadlocked/Gladiator is leagues better than All 4 One)
Do you remember how disappointing it was waiting for ratchet and clank games and then they announce stuff like all 4 one? Actually crushing
@@HowGoodGames I got so stoked for it before I even knew what the gameplay was. All I saw was “4 Player Ratchet and Clank game!!” And then I played the demo. Absolutely crushed
Ratchet deadlocked is a great game!
Your goddamn right Jacob Ayala
I honestly don't understand why people are still calling deadlocked a spinoff. It's clearly not, it's still part of the main timeline. Just because Clank's name isn't in the title, doesn't mean it's not part of the series. It's still a ratchet and clank game, people. It's no different from the previous games, minus the puzzles, platforming and such.
Edit: And the story is continuing where UYA left off. God, it's like people don't know what's canon and what isn't. Sorry, it's just that of stuff pisses me off.
EXCUSE ME, DEADLOCKED IS NOT A SPIN OFF. It is canonically number 4, between up your arsenal and tod
whoa excuse you caps lock, makes it sound like you're yelling.
While I don't think it's the best game ever, deadlocked is very fun, challenging, and more than worthy of a canonical place, especially more than all 4 one and ffa.
i can agree
I knew it, Breezy Shadow, you and me are like this 🤞
If you consider Rift Apart a spin-off then yes lol
Aha, I see what you did there
i dont think deadlocked is a spinoff
The game is mainline not a spin off. All they did manage was to change the gameplay.
All 4 one and FF are spins offs
Yeah I get that it’s not officially a spin-off, but you could make the same argument that all A4O and FFA did was change the gameplay, they still even have the ratchet and clank name. With this one though, by dropping the ‘and clank’ meant that it felt like they didn’t even consider it a sequel, it feels loosely book ended with things that connect it to UYA. Then the kicker was it not even being included in the PS2 remastered collection. That’s the thing that cemented ‘trilogy + deadlocked’ instead of ‘quadrilogy’ in most peoples minds I reckon.
@@HowGoodGames hmmm have a point there
i disagree deadlocked was ok but the story was basically nonexistant and the arcade style that you liked with the menus for missions and the arena feel for any planet makes the game feel boring. i love the arenas but when its the whole game i cant help but get tired of it. thanks for the vid tho, cant wait for more.
Deadlocked is by far the best ratchet
Still can’t believe how many people are coming into the comments and saying this. Makes me so happy
i think its a crack in time
I remember very little about it and I can see people love it, that’s the game I’m most excited to get to as I go back through them all
