I went out for the day to a section of the Suffolk Stour which I don't fish a lot, I fished a few different swims to see if I could find the roach.

TROTTING FOR ROACH ON MY LOCAL RIVER
Is it me or the way the camera is set up? It looks like you are casting upstream?
Must be the angle I am casting straight in front and that section is on a bend it just gives the illusion
Awesome video you make it look really easy, truly skilled in the art of trotting. I started a few winters ago and only in the winter months, I've been using a tricast John allerton collection 4gram rod, what rod do you use.
PLEASE…tell us about hook size, line/hook length strengths, float, depth, shot pattern, feed etc
Great video again, very informative and easy to watch.
Proper angling ! Loved it !
@andyelphick9715 thanks buddy 🎣🎣
Is this the LAA stretch? Lovely chub
@@corsarec yes mate
@ipfishing1466 thanks, i thought I recognised it, as you'd done a previous video. One last question, do you make your own floats or buy ready made. Thanks
Great video and just subscribed. I'll give Fordingbridge a go. Any rough areas to head for? I'm in Brighton so a bit of a drive for me.
Hi Ian, I've only just subscribed, Try Loading some of your stick floats using Drilled (tight fitting) .22 Air Rifle pellets, pushed up the stem so don't need as many shots and better than, Soldering/Lead wire.
Fishing for roaches is very popular in the city of Kyiv on the Dniper, in summer the best bait is pea dough, the roach is used to it and you can also catch a bream, a chub and other fish as well
May I ask what rod and reel combo you use down there as it looks a very balanced setup?
It’s the Drennan 15ft ultralight and Daiwa ninja 3000
Another nice video.
Do you find dragging bottom best? or a few inches off?
@@GillmanStudio dragging bottom
Great videos thank, may I ask you what length rod are you using ?

Awesome fishing!
A superb watch. Really enjoyed that. Thank you 🙏😊

You know the river, and well done, amazing fish, I need a chub, really well done, great job, tight lines.
Thanks 👍
These videos just get better and better, what a top angler you are, do you do any tuition as I would love to spend a day fishing with you.
Nice vid as always mate , few decent roach nice to see , I think my mate fished that first swim few days ago , thanks mate 👍🏻
Great vid again! Can I ask what hooks you are using? Size for maggots and punch / flake. Many thanks.
@@filbertuk1 I use Kamasan B560 size 16 for maggots and the same 16 and 14 when using punch and flake
Nice one , thanks 👍
The boys at the Avon roach project did a fantabulous job . Anglers should never forget their efforts
@gonzoalonzo They certainly did matey and they have made roach fishing great again🎣🎣🎣🎣
Lovely video - enjoyed that thanks, you seemed to be feeding quite light ! was that the case?
@@brimptonroach That was the case I just basically feed when I think they want it, glad you enjoyed 🎣🎣
@@ipfishing1466 thanks
Ian. Your bread feed. Is it straight liquidised or is it dampened with water?.In faster deeper water do you use groundbait or a mixture of liquidised and groundbait? Hope you don't mind me asking. 🙂
@@andrewjackson9603 I don’t mind you asking I usually mix with bran slightly dampened and in faster water I use a bit of aquatic fine white pebble to get to the bottom quicker, but I will vary my feed pattern depending on how I’m fishing, hope this helps 🎣🎣
Thanks Ian. 👍
Hi Ian have you a facebook Group.
@@brianreed1451 No I don’t mate
The Hampshire Avon is only a shadow of what it was
Some nice fish there. Float fishing is a great method, and nice casting over to the far bank as well. Tight lines
Just found your videos. Must say it is fabulous to come across someone who explains how they do it, so clearly that you don't have to keep rewinding videos to understand how it all goes together. Thank you, keep them coming!!
Fantastic job. New subscriber. Out of curiosity how much is it to restore a rod. Thanks Scott
Fish of a life time , well done !! However looked to me as though the hook was pulled out as part of the unhooking procedure, would it not be possible to use a disgorger?
I can assure you that the hook was not pulled out and for you to even suggest that is an insult, If you knew anything about me and my roach fishing you should know that I’m not in the habit of pulling hooks, microphones pick up sounds that seem a lot worse than they are.
Just found your channel - realy enjoyed that !, can I ask roughly how far across the swim was & would you have considered a Waggler ?
I wouldn't use the waggler in this particular swim as I wanted to hold the float back in the flow as it crept out of the slack and downstream
Excellent video, can I ask what strength reel line and hook links do you use please?
@@eynonr1 Yes mate I use 0.16 reel line and 0.10 fluorocarbon hook link
Great day on the bank, decent haul of roach...🎣
I do enjoy your videos Ian. You make it look so easy. The way you just flick it out so accurately. Well done and what beautiful, quality Roach.
@@marklamb931 glad you enjoyed 🎣🎣

Brilliant video Ian, you got me into it this season, it’s a fantastic river that teaches you to fish properly. I just wish it was in Hertfordshire
Nice one Ian, I've been making an effort to get over to the Hampshire rivers recently - great fishing. Maybe I'll see you over there sometime.
Lovely fishing and done so by a master!
