Absolutely and completely tired of the armored car slander. armored car recon, right now in game and since release, has a HIGHER recon stat than any of the base recon options (cav, mot, light). The amout of armored cars you need for armored car recon is completely trivial, put one factory on it at the start of the game and you will have a massive stockpile of them by the time you are at war and all your tanks and hell even if some infantry if you really want will have armored car recon. The difference between the stat upgrades you get in breakthrough and stuff compared to light tank recon is minimal compared to just guaranteeing you will always have a higher recon stat in battle. The recon stat is responsible for what 'tactic' you get in battle, tactics are the things you unlock by doing doctrine, and also determine if you get a 'counter' tactic which grants a huge bonus to all your stats in battle if you get it. It's normally a diceroll all things being equal but with higher recon you are far more likely to get your desired tactic in a battle which is way, way more important than the small amount of breakthrough or whatever you'd get from light tanks. Getting armored car 3 is a late game research so yeah probably not super useful but it does affect stats, unlike most late game tech its relatively fast to produce because you don't need many of them, and like ya didn't put modern tanks on here which are more egregious with that considering how expensive they are and how they are incompatible with existing divisions because its a diff battallion, so...
