The Drill You Need To Become A Better Hitter - BASEBALL HITTING TIPS
In this video, I demonstrate a drill that I learned later in my career that is going to help you guys a ton with adjustability.
We all want to hit the ball harder, and you SHOULD, but too much focus on simply swinging for power can hurt your ability to adjust in game.
This drill will greatly improve your bat to ball skills and will lead to more barrels when it counts: in the game.

    Hes super arrogant. Which turned me off especially for a guy who openly admitted he cant hit. He uses Judge, whos 280lbs 6'7 and Steroided Barry Bonds as his success stories. Not everyone is meant to be a power hitter and your swing should change depending on where the pitch is. Yeah we all love the middle in pitch, but on a 1-2 count you dont always get the putch you want. You cant approach the up and away pitch the same or down and away. Judge has long arms and can get away with plate coverage just because everything on him is longer. He still handcuffs himself on RHP breaking pitches away because of the "snap" and he can't extend. Case and point he strikes out A LOT which does nothing positive for scoring runs. Your point on re-evaluating and reassessing your swing constantly is perfect. I feel everyone wants a cheat or to get to a certain point to say "ok i got it" end of practice or learning. Its lazy. I would go further and break down each part of your approach like grip , hip turn, load, head placement etc. etc. teacherman has said he is interested in barreling the ball up and he doesn't care where the ball goes, which is just plain dumb.

First of Judge works with him in the offseason so it wasn’t just a one time thing, secondly Judge isn’t the only successful player that trains with him and thirdly many other hitters that have the same approach are successful. Thats great. I don't find the success of a 10u or 12u player/team as proof for a teaching method. My problem with him is as follows: 1. He teaches the same thing to every single hitter he coaches. 2. Anyone who doesn't think he's right is an "idiot" or "uninformed". 3. He acts like he's the only one that has done the research on video/film. 4. When you critique his methods he and his followers say "You just don't understand his methods." So given the unknowns what is your advice for a High School 2025 RHP which has serious mid-major and lower D1 interest, has solid Juco offers as well? Wait and see how this develops? The D1 schools that have interest have no idea (apparently) about what they can offer and roster size. I have also heard rumors that not all conferences will have the same rules - for instance if you do not up scholarships past the standard 11.7 the conference may allow the roster size to remain at 40. Thanks in advance.

    • @EliteSportsAdvisingESA
      @EliteSportsAdvisingESA Місяць тому

      What you have heard is correct. The FCS schools may have the option to remain at 40 roster spots. It's hard to say? How serious is the interest? It's tough to say but offers on the table in this climate for the '25's need to be seriously considered.

    • @beachrentalsnavarre
      @beachrentalsnavarre Місяць тому

      The interest I assume is serious, went to the specific college camp and was the only 2025 prospect they kept and spent an hour touring campus with recruiting coordinator after camp. In contact with recruiting coordinator, asked for NCAA ID #, confirmed high school coaches contact info, requesting transcripts and plan to see him pitch live this month. It is a dilemma, if the 40 roster limit remains some of this recent de-commitments (which seemed forced by the schools to be honest) will have been premature and now some D1 opportunities may arise late for 2025 that opened up because of proposed 34 limit that doesn't come into play just yet (is delayed). Also, where can you find list of FCS D1 baseball schools? I thought that was a term limited to Football Championship Subdivision?

    Portal and ability to view players via social media makes the baseball recruiting simple. Don’t throw money at outside recruiting groups. It may seem helpful but do a little homework if your kid is a collegiate prospect before you spend big bucks with recruiters. The JUCO route needs to be explored as well if you think money is a problem or you are hoping for some scholarship money. College baseball is rough if your kid is a not a big prospect. If rosters shrink the window is closing for the middle of the road players. Be realistic with your expectations

    Schools and conferences will care if winning brings in more money. This motivation will create an incentive to issue more scholarships to recruit and retain talent. Although schools may want to stay at a limit of 11.5, why would player 12-24 stick around if another school is offering more. That is the bargaining power offered by the portal, if a player is willing to transfer.

    • @EliteSportsAdvisingESA
      @EliteSportsAdvisingESA Місяць тому

      First off, The 11.7 scholarships can be split up amongst the players so most players have some kind of athletic scholarship. Secondly, there are 34 players now allowed on rosters, not 24. The vast majority of baseball programs across D1 are net-negative money makers for athletic associations.

    Boy tough one - I love so much of your other content on the mental side of hitting. Think you're dead wrong on this one. Proof is in the pudding, I don't know all the players Teacherman works with but I know he works with Judge, Carpenter, and Happ. Judge (leads by significant margin) and Carpenter are Top 10 in MLB in OPS and each lead their teams in OPS. Happ is 2nd on the Cubs in OPS. Those 3 are pro hitters, they've broken down Teacherman's methods and are all kicking tail. In 2 of the cases Judge/Carpenter, the swing change to Teacherman was transformational to their career (their words not mine). If you don't personally agree with Teacherman's approach that's cool, but use some hard data to provide more balance in your perspective.

      I'm not saying it won't work for anyone. I'm saying that when a coach's prescriptions for every hitter are the exact same, there is a problem. I know what I'm talking about. I've worked with some of the best and most respected "new age" hitting coaches in the game.
