    "Defensively, some of you guys are so below average it's almost disgusting to watch"- Aaron Boone to the Yankees players after the World Series 😂In all seriousness though, the mental part is what does most professional athletes in. I have been watching sports since the 80s and the busts and guys that flame out (excluding some serious injury) are guys that can't master the mental part of the game. Great video.

    Thx. Appreciate everything you have to say here. As a parent (and someone who played), I see atrocious defense in HS & travel ball. For hitting, do you have any recommendations for how to improve on & develop consistently with bat to ball skills?

      @@dancheek8444 I really like the drive-line Plyo balls.
      They are soft and weighted balls that give instant feedback if you miss-hit the ball at all.
      A lot of schools are using them specifically to train bat-to-ball skills.

    I coach youth baseball. What resources do you recommend for teaching baseball IQ?

      It’s tough. You need have a coach that played at a high level or who has been around a high level in some way.
      IQ really can only be developed through experience and by someone with a lot of experience.

      Talking through game situations and letting the conversation flow naturally can be a great place to start.

      I hear you but I believe that there is a framework by which players can think about the play.
      When a scout is assessing baseball IQ they are running the decisions a player makes through this framework and assessing the quality of the decision.
      What i would like to understand is the elements of that decision framework so I can teach it to my players

    Nobody gets recruited if they have bat control these days!! It sounds good, and when you get to college, yeah it’s true. But in order to get recruited you have to have the pre-requisites of a minimum exit velocity. If you hit .550and spray the ball all over but only 85 exit velocity…you ain’t getting recruited! If you hit .300 and have 100+ exit velocity…everyone will recruit you! Facts!

      You're making my case for me. I don't care about what gets a player recruited. I care about what leads to them being successful in their career. Coach's also can see through the smoke and mirrors. No one gets recruited because they hit .300 and have a 100 EV. Hitters get recruited based on the success they have against good pitching. That's it.

      Doesn’t OBP give you as a coach an insight into the potential success of a player?

    • @EliteSportsAdvisingESA
      @EliteSportsAdvisingESA  12 годин тому

      @ yes it can. It’s hard to judge if OBP from HS will translate to College. It’s too big of a jump in competition.
