    Thank you so much, I found your video very interesting. I have three sets of ChiaoGoo needles and I really love them. The only problem is that I have a hard time reading the sizes because it is shining. If the ingraved writing was black or any contrasting color I think it would help.

    You left out mention of connectors to fasten cables to each other for extra length. They come in mini, small & large. And shorties come with 2 , 4 & 5 inch sets have 2 of appropriate sizes. I love using connectors and adaptors. They expand your set breadth. Place them on safety pins to prevent loss!

    I wish I had found this video several months ago when I was just starting out and trying to figure out what I needed to get started. Many knitters on UA-cam forget that this ‘knitting world’ is somewhat of a foreign language to those just starting out. I really appreciate how you discussed each set and what they were good for and also the reasons for the variety of needle lengths. Very helpful and thank you!

    Wow, it is so nice to see you. It's hard to contemplate you having snow. It's been mild here, had some snow fall on the ground but it doesn't last. I am doing a CAL #100daysofchristmas2023 and getting ready for an upcoming craft market later this month. I haven't done a show in over 5 years. It has been hard because last month, I rolled over on my ankle and broke it along with chipping a piece of bone and tearing the ligaments. My husband has been a God send and will be helping me with the show. Since he is helping me I have to tag all my items. Not being able to get around all that well, it takes me longer to get things done. We'll I hope that you and your family are doing well. Take care 😊

      Hey my friend, I’m so sorry to hear about your leg, that must’ve been painful! I’ve never “touch wood” broke a bone (well tailbone only) and couldn’t imagine that pain! You’re lucky to have such a kind hubby too, they’re hard to find! I’ve had a rough year, lost 5 aunts and 1 uncle, 1 cousin (36 years old) and 6 friends, if that wasn’t enough Paul had a heart attack (54 years old) had stints put in to h9ld him to his open heart, then had his chest slit open for a quadruple bipass, so they cut down your arm and inside of both thighs on top of the chest cut, to get a bunch of arteries to replace. It has been a scary time and he’s been off work for a year so I’ve played nurse and had so much on my plate. I’m hoping it’s all done and he is fighting to get back to work (doctors said he could go back October 1st but his work is…well playing games to put it lightly), anyways it has been a rough time $$ wise, so glad our sons have helped us so much so we didn’t loose our home. I should have thought of making some extra money too at craft shows but my mind has been mush lately. I have been trying to knit and crochet just for myself so I don’t feel any pressure with any time line. Anyways, great to hear from you. Healing and gentle hugs your way xoxo. Have a very merry Christmas if I don’t get to say so before.

I’m testing a hooded cowl, put my 2023 MKAL (Stephen West one) aside until I figure out how I want to finish it. Clue #4 (last clue) was a dip stitch BUT I’m thinking I’d like to incorporate crochet instead of the dip stitches, just figuring out what stitch(es) I want to use. Hi, great video. I’m new to circulars and only began using them 4 weeks ago because I broke my shoulder. I use knit pro symfonie but I’m hoping to invest in the 5 inch set of chaiogoo. I have a question. What is magic loop?

    • @ebuyuoy5857
      @ebuyuoy5857 Рік тому

      The magic loop technique allows you to work in the round using just one long circular needle by dividing your stitches into two halves and pulling the cable out between them, creating a loop. I have knitted ten socks on the same cable using magic loop.

    • @U.K.9178
      @U.K.9178 11 місяців тому

      Magic Loop ist das du mit einer 100cm langen Stricknadel eine Socke oder Mütze Stricken kannst. Dazu musst du das Seil zirka in der Mitte so lange aus dem Strickstück ziehen bis die Maschen die Nadelspitze erreichen. Jetzt strickst du weiter bis du das herausgezogene Seil erreicht hast. Das machst du immer wieder bis dein Strickstück fertig ist auch wenn du bei einer Mütze nur noch wenige Maschen auf dem Seil hast. Wird es zu schwierig zieh einfach das Seil dann an zwei Stellen heraus.

    Hello; great video here. I make wooden yarn bowls, and noticed all of the ideas you shared here have one important common ground. NO “J) SLOT!!! Turning a yarn bowl takes time. Whatever the size, they all hold the yarn. What is there that says the knitter has to have an open slot? It takes almost as much time to cut that slot as it does to turn the bowl! A friend told me it is needed so you don’t have to cut the yarn to remove the WIP for some reason. What do you do to connect the end of a ball of yarn to a new one to keep knitting? I could sell my bowls for a lower price if I could merely drill a hole instead of an intricate “J” slot. I’d appreciate your thoughts very much! Kind regards…..

    • @knottyyarnies450
      @knottyyarnies450 Рік тому

      Just a hole honestly is needed….there’s yarn bags out there that just have holes after all, maybe look up photos on Pinterest or google, just type in the search bar “knitting bag with hole” and photos will pop up. As for joining new yarns when you run out of your ball you’re working on you can use many many different joins. If you’re needing ideas you can search those here on UA-cam if you’re a visual learner. For myself though I honestly always just leave a tail on my old yarn ball then go to do the next stitch and use the new yarn for that stitch but leaving a long tail on it too for darning in both ends later. I hope this makes sense the way I typed it. There’s other ways too but I’ve never had a project come undone by doing it this way, I just make sure to darn the ends in 3 ways each about 4” each direction. If you need more information I can make a video and send it to you for you to see. Also you can look up Russian join, I hear people like that one, others just knot their join but honestly you can feel that and is the project gets washed a lot or is slippery yarn that knot will let loose and you won’t have enough of an end to fix it then. There also is something called the magic knot, I can’t speak how well that one holds up but I hear many like it, I may try a swatch or dishcloth using this method and see if it holds up because it sure is very easy. For that method just search in UA-cam “magic knot” it’s the one that starts with 2 loops, one from each ball of yarn, the old and the new. Not the one you’ll see someone wrap around their thumb, that one is not a solid one, I’ve tried it with no luck. Hope you have a great week. Sorry it took a bit to get back to you, my husband had open heart surgery and I was in Ottawa for 9 days. Hope these suggestions help, Hugs your way, Barb

    I have the four inch complete set(I got the four inch because I have small hands). I have the red set, blue set and the yellow set. I love my needles. My DPN's are are inexpensive bamboo needles. I also have 7,8 & 9 fixed circular. I have also bought extra cords, stoppers and a connector that I can use a small cord with large needles.

      Oh my sounds like you're all set for any knitting adventures! I love that! I'm glad I didn't venture into the forte set because I heard they're redoing them because there's been many problems with the tips coming off. They are beautiful though so maybe once the new sets eventually come out I'll get them too. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment too, I greatly appreciate it, hugs, Barb

    Great video, thanks! Do you find that the stiffness of the Chiagoo cables makes it hard to do magic loop?

    • @knottyyarnies450
      @knottyyarnies450 Рік тому

      I personally do not at all, I find them very flexible compared to every other brand I’ve tried except for the smaller sized FIXED lykke needles, the cord on those are very very soft and pliable but I find it almost too flexible if that makes sense?….. thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment and ask a question. Hope all is well, Barb

    I have the 5" mini set for socks, magic loop. Do you know if there should be a hole on the needle and the cable or just the cable. My needles do not have a hole. I to make sure I didn't get a fake set.

    • @knottyyarnies450
      @knottyyarnies450 Рік тому

      Hmmm. I’ll check….i pulled out my set and the cable has a hole but the needle does not however…..the needles each have a small “bump” like smaller than a freckle where the hole should be if there was one so maybe that’ll help tell them apart if there is a fake set out there? Also they’ll come with an entire set of mini cables, end stoppers and needles to put into the cables to turn them too. So you should have gotten all that also to tell. I’m sure your’s will be fine. Enjoy your knitting, Barb

      Very informative video explaining the so many Chaio Goo needles/sets! I plan to rewatch and take some notes as there are a LOT! I am a return-to-knitting person using less time sewing. I have started with socks, magic loop. More difficult than I anticipated but I am carrying on! I am using Chaio Goo circulars and am interested in purchasing some interchangeable sets so your video is perfect.After rewatching, I may ask your opinion on which set would be most useful for me. Thanks for your help !❤

    I ordered large lace set and first hour I had issues. Unscrewed all my work and then I tightened so well I couldn’t unscrew. So returned immediately

      Wow I’m sorry to hear that. I have 7 sets and just ordered the new yellow shorty set yesterday. I screw them in with the key tool but not so tight that it’ll strip the screw part, kind of just one solid turn while holding the silicon piece on the other side that doesn’t have the hole, then it just takes a wee bit of umphhh to twist after I’m done, works for me BUT I’m very upset for you. Maybe I’ll do a video on how I screw them together too so it can help to visualize. I’ve done hundreds of projects with these needle sets and never had one come undone or had trouble un tightening when I’m done either so I’m very sorry to hear you have. Hope your holiday season is going great. Thanks for the input because I love to hear/learn how others feel about these, hugs your way, Barb

      @@knottyyarnies450 thank you for your response. I was very disappointed because I loved knitting with the metal needles themselves. I’ve ordered a few fixed sets I’m waiting to arrive and if I find them as enjoyable then that’s going to be my solution. I’ll check for your video on twist on/twist off “lesson”.:)

    Really loved this episode, thank you for doing it. I do have one item to note... The "con" first mentioned near the end of the video, saying that the storage case pockets in the larger needle sizes are attached in reverse order? I don't think that's a mistake... I think it's well-thought-out design.. if you tried to put a spare pair of 10 mm needles right below existing 10 mm needles it would be too bulky... so they reversed the arrangement. A spare set of needles fits neatly in the case! The storage cases are wonderful. I keep the needles in cases sorted by cable size. Large needles/large cables in one case, small needles/cables in the another case.

    This is seriously the most helpful video regarding which chiaogoos to get! Thank you thank you! My take on the “twist” name is maybe because it has that twisted wire wrapped in plastic for the cord that ironically prevents it from twisting? 🤷🏽‍♀️
