    I would kill for an old laptop. I go to a type of school that uses laptops instead of paper obviously the laptops they give you are really slow and I really want a ThinkPad no matter what I’ve tried. I can’t find anything on the market that’s in the range of my budget. I’m still searching after six months for an old laptop that has okay battery life and specs just to open brave and OneNote i’ve just come across your channel and I love everything you do. Please keep up with reviewing old laptops.👍

    This method didn't worked for me cause the volume can't be downgraded. But i have an alternative : Method 1 : when you're blocked on the login screen, you can quickly push few times on the power button to display accessibility options. Enable the virtual keyboard and you can now type your password (careful with the language qwerty/qwertz/azerty...) and it should be working. The first method didn't work directly for me, the password was good, but won't load. So i mixed with this video : Method 2 with an external usb keyboard : start with the power putton pushed few second. Choose the Security option, and deselect the option explains the Apple security is better blablabla. Choose the 2 others options below (don't remember exactly). The mac will ask your password to confirm, and type it with your usb keyboard. Here password is working, so reboot your computer and now you can load the virtual keyboard (like i explains on the first method), and now the password working. Last step, don't forget to allow USB devices without authorization like explained at the end of the video. Very strange but worked for me ;)

    Originally, I bought a 1080 back in 2018 or so. I really loved it. Maxed out every game. After a while, through the used market I switched to a 1080 Ti and the upgrade was insane (30% performance). Just now, I managed to sell my 1080 Ti as in 2024 it started to show its age even in 1080p ultrawide. I play with a 75hz monitor so I needed 75 fps at all times. Absolute beast of a card still and I hope the 5000 series is going to have a similar gem of a card if the rumors are true about the performance of the new series. In the meantime, I switched to an RX 6700 XT for a 15-25% performance gain based on given game. I managed to buy one under market value so basically, the switch was free.

    • @CanadianComputerCollector
      @CanadianComputerCollector 13 днів тому

      Not bad! Also, isn't it wild that 8 years later the performance uplift was so modest? You'd think a brand new cars should be multiple times faster than even the best 8 year old cars. "The 1080 is INSANE!"

    UPDATE FIRMWARE IF USING DISPLAY PORT I bought a bunch of 1070/1080 after prices dropped to $100 range. I thought someone sold me a bad one because I got a blank screen but then learned if I waited long enough it would go straight to windows sign in screen. I learned all Pascal 1000 series has a firmware update patch that fixes the blank screen when using display port during post boot. Works fine on HDMI and you can see bios on HDMI. So run the updater on all these cards to check, it will also tell you if it doesn’t need the update. Search : NVIDIA Graphics Firmware Update Tool for DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 Displays

    Greetings. I have had mine since new (2017), it is a Gigabyte Turbo, with the import prices and all that I think it was the best $830 invested in hardware, I had it first with an i7 7700K and 8GB of ram, I currently have it with it with a Ryzen 5 5500, 16GB of ram and an Asus Prime B550 Plus. Although these turbine designs are infamous for having higher temperatures than fan designs, the truth is that they have never suffered from too high temperatures (maximum 75 °C, with aggressive overclocking around 80 °C), however little by little I gradually improved its cooling in a personalized way: I added a 90mm high pressure fan in the casing just in front of the turbine, I made an aluminum backplate with many fins and two 90mm fans identical to the first one I mentioned, finally I placed a 120mm fan on the outside of the case just behind the video card grille extracting hot air. All this has resulted in the fact that with the 2000mhz gpu overclock, 12000mhz vram and 925mv undervolt, before I had temperatures that sometimes slightly exceeded 80°C, now I have a little over 60°C, I think it's not bad at all. air cooling. I still play at 1440p most games on Ultra or at least High. I plan to replace it with a second-hand RTX3090 / Ti or if prices drop an RTX4070 Super / Ti Super

      @CanadianComputerCollector the cpu i have doesn't have integrated graphics. Ryzen 5 3600. I did look into it but couldn't find a cpu with integrated graphics that was in my price range, so i had to just roll with it.

      In this case you should try to get anything GTX. A gt710 is going to be a massive limitation. A GTX 750 would be a big upgrade. A GTX 1050 or 1060 would be a huge improvement. Those cards are all dirt cheap. Even anything from the GTX 9-series
