Impreza RX Owner's Review - The Forgotten Subaru?

In this video I show you my Subaru Impreza RX, a car almost nobody in the UK bought and explain why that's a shame, as it makes a great family hatchback. Two years later and your video is still having an impact. Planning to buy a machine this week and was struggling with the difference. The portion of the video showing the Vertuo “crema” turning into a less than appealing mess was quite helpful.

    I believe they come off as you can put the polishing ends off etc

  •  3 дні тому

    There's something important you are missing. While boiling a kettle and adding that to your coffee will get you to a longer drink, the price difference of the vertuo capsules also includes an increase in the amount of coffee in each capsule. So the drinks are not directly comparable since the classic Nespresso stretched with water would be significantly more dilute.

    Wish I had seen this video before I got my Vertuo machine. I have noticed the weird foam on top. It is not like my usual crema from my other machines. I will endeavor to refill my pods with my own roasted coffee. Will see if that makes any difference.

    I have an r56 cooper. The 16 inch wheels with run flat tyres that came with the car were very firm and pretty uncomfortable. I got used to them but i was constantly avoiding any pot holes or imperfections in the road surface. I eventually upgraded the wheels to jcw 18 inch and these came with normal (non-run flat) tyres. The ride is much better now. Still firm but much improved.

      Thanks for the comment Ben and I did the same thing on my R53 dropping from 17" to 16" to try to find some comfort. I read a review of the very latest Mini earlier this week and I noted that it was being criticised as having an unnecessarily hard ride so I do believe that this is how Mini want their cars to "feel" and is intentional.

    Need to have a look at mine.. No central locking with fob, mirror heater and the red light on the door not working. Might have a broken wire inside the boot maybe.

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful 14 днів тому

      No central locking on the fob might be a dead key. My car came with 2 keys, but only one ever worked, which was a bit annoying but better than only having one key. No mirror heater definitely could be the door wires though, assuming you've checked the fuse. Good luck with sorting it.

      @MostlyHelpful Thanks, yeah my keys would occasionally stop working years ago.. There's a code sequence with one key in the door lock I seem to remember to recode it that seemed to work.. Will have a look when the weather gets warmer.. Also need to look at the cooling system.. Runs cool all the time.. I have a new temp sensor to fit and have another go at the thermostat.. I got the wrong stat last time and put the old one back in 😂

    I’m very disappointed in them as a brand. They are prone to delete comments and have even gone as far as to block me from their instagram page for mentioning the wait time when someone asked for a review. I literally just said I was disappointed at the wait time. Knowing that this is probably just a drop ship makes me regret purchasing through them. I order 14 days ago and they have not even left China yet.

    How did it work at 130Nm? The prev vid you torqued to 130 and couldn’t undo with 3Ah batt but here you’re using the 5Ah but only at 110Nm or am I missing something?

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful 21 день тому

      You aren't missing something, but it's worth noting that the multi-faceted socket I was using in these this demonstration was causing issues. I did a review of this Makita wrench against a Milwaukee one much more recently and it fared far better when I used a regular six sided socket. You can see more about that here: ua-cam.com/video/YCJ5nchpWU8/v-deo.html Ultimately though I believe this Makita torque wrench is on the limit of its capability at 130NM and I don't recommend it if you want to reliably remove wheel nuts/bolts.

    Great test, thank you! Have you tested the Milwaukee on bolts with higher torque? Like when they overdo your wheel nuts at the workshop with an air wrench... Bought this one but haven't tried it out.

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful 21 день тому

      I haven't at this stage. Since buying it I haven't had anything that's been really really tight. In that scenario of a tyre place overtightening I always use a breaker bar first anyway as they can sometimes be done up crazy tight. I recall doing the wheel bolts on a VW Phaeton and it took two of us on the breaker bar to get them undone.

    • @impRZA
      @impRZA 21 день тому

      @MostlyHelpful tell me about it. Some workshops tend to overdo the bolts so much I don't even get how they don't break. That's why I will change the wheel for myself on all of our cars. Since then I got the battery back so I tried the gen1 stubby with HO 5.0 battery. Even with around 25-50% of battery it was impressive. Only one bolt was stuck and the stubby couldn't break it. It got heated up after around 15 seconds so I didn't want it to suffer more. You're right, in these cases a breaker bar will do the work. But I'm pretty sure with a 100% battery it would've been able to breakaway the overtightened bolt. Very impressive compact machine.

    I’m only a very casual coffee drinker because I’m one of those add a little coffee to my milk and sugar people😂. I’ve been considering getting a Nespresso because my parents have an original one and I do like making a latte at their house on occasion. I was looking at getting a Nespresso Vertuo since that’s what’s being pushed, but after watching your video I think I’d rather stick with the original. I’m glad I didn’t buy a Vertuo on Black Friday.

      @MostlyHelpful 21 день тому

      Thanks Erin for taking the time to comment. I always say to people to try coffee from the two machines if you can and see which you prefer. There are people commenting who love the Vertuo experience and that's cool but if you know you like the coffee from the Original machine that you've used, then certainly I can't see you going wrong with one of those. Good luck with whichever you choose.

    While you are in there one of the biggest electrical nightmares I ever had on my E36 was failure of the left hand indicators on both front and back with a blown fuse. Replacing the fuse made the right indicators work but nothing on the left. There was no clicking at the stalk, just dead indicators on one side. I thought it was the relay so replaced that but it didn't cure it. Replaced the bulb holder, no change.Then I replaced the stalk and still no cure. Replaced the hazard switch and still no cure. I was driving around for about four weeks with no left side indicators and then one day they started working again by themselves for no particular reason so I figured a loose wire somewhere and I traced it to that little two pin connector that connects to the bulb holder itself, wiggling the wires made the indicators work. So I replaced that connector and all good. I have to say electrics are a real pain as the most trivial thing can give you a headache.

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful 29 днів тому

      That's a great tip thanks. I have had the car cut out on me once for no apparent reason and it started back up without issue 20 seconds later. I subsequently investigated and found some left over wiring from a previous alarm install so I removed all that although I have no idea whether it caused the issue or not. As you say, electrics can be a real challenge!

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful Місяць тому

      It's not a GPU I am familiar with but 92 degrees does seem high. I would make sure the case fan, CPU fan and GPU fan are all working correctly but ultimately I guess these things do just get hot. For what it's worth, I upgrade my 3250 to a 3470 and it's worth it, although I don't play games so I can't talk to the graphics performance. It has massively reduced the video processing/rendering time though.

    I want to buy a new one , as am new to nespresso world …what’s your recommendation between these two ?!

      @mostafaalabyad2474 In terms of cost of the pods and machine reliability, definitely the Citiz. In terms of taste of the coffee I would always encourage people to try both machines and see which you prefer. No point having a reliable machine that takes cheaper pods if you don't like the coffee it produces.

    The Citiz Platinum has a hot water only button so you can ditch the kettle and works for tea bags too, but it's expensive

      Very interesting to hear - certainly that could work for me.

    You can reprogram the vertuo capsule water amount by holding down the button and letting go when you are satisfied, it will remember the pod choice based off the barcode

      I sold my Vertuo machine shortly after filming the video so I can't put it to the test, but that's useful info for anybody else so thanks for sharing.
