    In Australia a new Dyson V8 Absolute is still pulling $450. In my mind it's the last of the great (classic) stick vacuum designs of Dyson. The next models just become a tad too big, clumsy and in my books way too expensive punching past $1000 (a Dyson V12 is $1300, V15 $1500 and I expect a V16 will be $1700ish). The only fault with the V8 is the trap if the dust bin is closed before sliding up the dust bin. I did love the V6 but the V8 was a great leap forward.

      I'll probably make a video on this has some point, but the V8 is still my all-time favorite Dyson stick vac. Perfect size, power, features, weight... put a V10/V11 nozzle on it and it is unstoppable!

    I think with so many Dyson's out there needing service you will be busy for awhile. Great job Matt.

      I tell you what, I wouldn't be making nearly as much money on repairs if it wasn't for Dyson!

    Sound more like the end cap bearing

      Those are definitely frequent areas of failure!

    The high pitch whine of Dyson cordless vacs make me feel like I'm chewing on tin foil

      LOL, they really are loud... and for me I think it is mostly the pitch that bothers me.

    Why are all cordless machines so bad? I'm still kinda looking for one but the only one that would be good for me quality and performance-wise is an LG, but they don't sell em here.

      I don't have the room to list why stick vacs are bad except to say that no dc motor can match the airflow and suction of a mains power vacuum. They just can't create the power. That combined with Dysons root cyclone technology on all their vacs reduced airflow significantly.
      I work in the flooring trades and I own a carpet restoration company. I've used many vacs in my time and in the end I swear by Sebo for home use and Windsor for commercial use. Bags are a totally hygienic way to dispose of dirt. Bagless is not.

      @@darkhallucination Yea, I really like Sebos too and a huge amount of people recommend them. Never had one, I only used my Uncle's X4 and it's quite a pleasant sounding vacuum and the build quality is just magnificent!

      They are complicated and vacuum manufacturers don't put the kind of money into them that would be required to make them reliable (example, power tool manufacturers). It also doesn't help that they are all bagless which brings a load of issues regardless of power source, but is especially hard on this little high RPM motors.

    The wheels on these are a disgrace! I have a V8 and the amount of times the plastic wheel bearings have worn out!! I've lost track. Certainly not a tough and durable machine. I hope the larger plastic bearings on the V11 and V15 are better, though I doubt it.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, the plastic on plastic wheels are pretty bad. The newer units (V10+) with the bearing are much, much better.

      Has anyone commented about the low-voltage wire or wires in the flexible joint breaking, I have 4 which have broken the exact same way, that is why that flexible hose is the better option, expecting wire to flex continually like a piece if rubber is behind belief

      @@David-fj5lz Oh that explains why I had problems with the heads starting to randomly stop when using them.
