Tekken 2 was a real one

Tekken 2's There are some songs i do think i prefer from the arcade version, Nina's, character select, Jack's, King's are some examples. CSS's song is expanded in where you show it, the actual game just stops the song if you have the raw song file (which i do, but you can also hear the end of the song in 2P mode) I still like Tekken 2, for everything really, besides the presentation, i just never really got behind Tekken 3 for whatever reason, in-fact, i had more fun in Tekken 1 probably because it's funnier, even with 2 players. By the time i played Tekken 3, i already had played Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter games, and those were to me the pinnacle, so i just never understood why Tekken 3 was so beloved, it's a good game of course, but it is unremarkable compared to other games imo. If you want to play Tekken 1 and 2 online with me, you can come with me, in-fact, i play with an old player that played Tekken 2 back then in arcades, he's really good and active in-fact. I also probably made with him and some others the first Tekken 1 competitive tier list lol.

Definitely thought this was based on some 80s stuff but overall it was the music. But if anything Tekken 2 had the most gorgeous and sophisticated music , super , super nostalgic and makes me feel like I’m in Blood Sport or Miami Vice mixes with Enter The Dragon . But just beautiful game and memories with me and my cousins and sister .❤❤❤

Regarding Angel with you saying she was retconned, I see her erasure differently. Throughout the Tekken games you see Kazuya chip away at his humanity meaning his arc is about becoming an ultimate devil. This is in comparison to Jin where his internal conflict led to the angelic side winning in the end before it was cooked in the stratosphere. It being a genetic trait was definitely retconned into later games though, which I'm fine with otherwise Tekken would have written itself in a corner where anyone can become a devil or angel if they just wished hard enough for it to happen.

Never expected anyone was like me, but you are. I feel the same about the stages. Whether affects my feeling for a stage in a fighting game, and honestly a good stage is my most important thing for a fighting game. Music, gameplay & mechanics, character designs. Those are all great. But a good and beautiful looking stage? It just itches a scratch in my brain. It’s one of my favorite things about tekken and kof.

Excellent watch. Though I eventually put many more hours into Tekken 3, 2 was the first one I owned, and elements like the music and atmosphere are stuck in my mind much more vividly than later releases. Looking back, I like the way it isn't afraid -- like the first Virtua Fighter -- to show off its polygons. Of course Tekken 3 looked amazing, but Tekken 2 looks like it was going for a style and nailed it. The atmosphere stuck with me too -- ethereal almost, strange to say for a fighting game. Like the stages -- Heihachi's stage, an interior space that vanishes into darkness just outside of reach, and you can walk endlessly and never find a wall, it feels dreamlike, a kind of liminal sensation. There's nothing crazy like Star Gladiator's space battles in the background, it's just unreal enough to set the tone, like Devil's stage and the infinite reflections being unlike any real space. That and the music -- the way it starts up on Devil's stage as he rises to his feet make me feel like I'm about to fight David Bowie in Labyrinth rather than a purple demon man.

tekken 2 has always been my favorite. 3 was ugly imo. 4 was great, but 2 has it all.

Your channel deserves more followers. These cut scenes were leagues better than what we get now, not graphically but in subject matter and story telling.

I still think this is my favorite Tekken game in the franchise still. It just played fun for me as a casual gamer. Love the characters, the soundtrack and just the roster overall. The intro opening theme and scene is just retro cool! I agree, that Juns theme is my favorite. The Playstation post OST was better than its arcade original soundtrack. Jun, Nina and Michelle's themes were my top three favorite. Honorable mention to King, Paul and Roger's Tahiti stage track.

The portraits in this game, especially Sol's, are ingrained in my mind and I haven't even played it once

I enjoyed it, and played it a lot on PS1 back in the day, but in all honesty it was until Tekken 5 that any game in the series beat VF2 or the original DOA for actual skill level. It was WAYYYYYY to easy to wiggle the joystick and mash random buttons the whole way through, and the characters all had almost identical normals and only differed in those ten string combos you had to memorise, so overall skill wise all the proper SEGA fighters had it beat (VF, Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx) for years. The same way Ridge Racer was no Daytona or F-Zero X was no Wipeout 2097, but they were still great games, and Tekken is WAY better now than it was then. Plus those idiotic FMVs are peak 90's entertainment, and ALL the King endings had real kids mixed with the CGI gimpyness which made them the best ones. Plus the story is like taking an E, 3 tabs LSD and eating a bag of shrooms while you're already having a fever dream, and because of it I can't imagine having a son and NOT throwing him into a volcano just so he can prove he's not a little bitch 🤪

I specifically remember the arcade version of tag 2 being my favorite. I hated how the ps2 version was so blurry

I’ve genuinely had a fixation on this game since I was a kid because of its presentation, music and aesthetic. I’ve always wanted to put into words why it appealed so much to me and has ended up being responsible for my music taste and love for Japan. VF is better than tekken. And being too anime in a 3D game isn't a good thing. You like T2 a lot because it's less anime b.s. and more grounded base 3D fighting.
