Harley Davidson Street Glide Special Review
Mate, the super duke R weights ober 120kg less 😂, the HD isn't even in the same league as that power.
😂 ha ha, I get your point, but I was just pointing out the torque figures, I know it’s never going to be as fast as the KTM, I’ve owned one, I know. Thanks for watching
@sweetrides8418 Hey legend, I just want to say I think your bike is hands down the best-looking HD and possibly bike period available to date. Wish HD would wake up and offer paint like this on their other models.
@@ausforce1 thanks mate, yeah I think Harley need to up their game in a few areas to be honest, I love the brand and hope they manage to keep going 👍
@sweetrides8418 i just don't get it. The lowrider S and ST are the most popular bikes with young riders, yet HD have made them too expensive for them to buy, and if they can manage to afford the colours, they keep putting out look like they are from a 1970s shoe salesman's suit collection.
at 6'2 this bike is for me. I just started paying out 5 grand lots into the dealers account for a 23 model mt09 sp brand new and got a rad gaurd, tail tidy and yoshi AT2 pipe going on her for her run in period ahead then will get her dynod once everything is nicely run in and seated and I have to say....WOW! This is my first new bike purchase and I absolutely love these bikes. I tell people it was like when the MK5 Supra came out at first I was like: EWWWW WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!? THen it grew on me and I Just kept looking and looking and admiring it more. Thanks for the great review mate. Cheers from an Aussie.
So glad you’re enjoying your new bike, good choice, especially with those upgrades. Thanks for watching 👍
Just installed Feuling 472 cam chest kit. It didn't fall apart and explode on the road , so I did it right. I have the PV3 and had fuel moto download a map. Its basically a new bike. Happy rider. Finally got that lop, lop, chop. Sounds like a lion projectile vomiting on a cold start. Ride fast don't die!!!
Hi John, wish I was capable of doing the work myself, I would have saved a lot of money. I’ve managed to get mine to a place I’m happy with now, updated vid on the way 👍
traded in a 2021 Street Glide special for a 2024 Street Glide, two totally different bikes. 2021 was like a bucket of bolts compared to the 2024. After 550 miles I still say to myself constantly, I can believe how nice this bike rides.
Definitely a more refined machine, thought I was done with tourers after getting my Low Rider ST, but I must admit I am very tempted to, but will probably wait until January to see what’s new. Thanks for watching 👍
Very helpful!! Thank you!!
@@josesaucedo6536 glad you enjoyed it, new video on the way details how I’ve managed to make the cam work for me 👍
Amazing machine, I wish it would not consume gas at 30MPG pace....
I think maybe if it’s too poppy at low speeds maybe slightly lug it one gear up. Could help you. I did cams in my twin cam 103. Lots of gain and figured out the rest with my throttle hand
Hi Kelly, tried that, but lurches too much. However I have solved the issue now and have another video out soon explaining how I did it 👍
I’ve got the 468 and it’s sweet Awesome low to mid range torque and very rideable
Good to hear Gordon, I’ll be putting another Cam video out soon with an update on my predicament 👍
GREAT REVIEW I own one and am in complete agreement this review!!!! 🐉🐉🐉🐉 I've dubbed mine the Green Dragon cuz it's the Alpine Green version ! EVERYWHERE i ride it! it draws a crowd!!!!! I've Been Riding my own for 60 years. and seldom return home before running at least one tank of gas .
Hi Richard, thanks for watching and your kind comments. Fantastic that you're still riding, I'm almost 60 and can't see that I'll ever stop, unless I literally can't get my leg over the thing 😂
Sweet!
Thanks for watching Jeff
Great video! I’m sure you’ve already gotten this question but what bar and riser set up are you running? Looks great, not too high but plenty of pull back.
Video on the way showing all upgrades, bars are LA Choppers 9 inch kage fighter T bars
Fantastic looking bike 👍
Hi Vince, thanks for watching, yeah its certainly a stunner!!!
Nice video! I have the same issue / feelings about the 475. I had a nice smooth Street Glide. Then wanted more power and went with the S&S 475. Definitely doesn't cruise in low speeds anymore smoothly. Like going slow through a crowd or parking lot - you can tell it just jerks and wants to go! It seems to ride a bit rougher but not in a bad way. Just more power. I also had a 2:1 exhaust that I loved. But after the cam install, it changed it so much that I no longer like the exhaust sound. I ended up selling it and going to true duals for now until I can figure out something else. It just made it WAY to loud and obnoxious. Overall I am "okay/happy" with it. I wouldn't say "I love it" but oh well. Maybe this is when I need 2 bikes. 1 performance and 1 for the touring. :)
Hi, thanks for watching and for your comments. I'm just making a new video on the subject, and I've managed to solve the problem !!!! One the cam was fitted, initially I was more concerned with the noise it was making, so I fitted a lollipop baffle, real easy install and it did make a nicer noise, just about acceptable volume too. However I then had two issues, firstly everyone that followed me on a ride said that my bike stank of petrol, and secondly that it just didn't want to cruise at 25 - 35 mph in either 3rd or 4th gear. I tried riding in different ways and gave myself time to get used to the cam, but nothing worked, I had almost resigned myself to have to have another cam fitted, when I thought I would take it back to the dyno for one last try. Luckily the guys that did the original tune said I could take it back if I had any issues. So on the first dyno the fuel mixture was lean, however now I have fitted the baffle it has created back pressure, which can help with torque but was now making the bike run rich (as I expected). I explained what my issues were and they concentrated their efforts on lower speeds and revs between 1500-3000. They had the bike for two hours and said there was good news and bad news, bad news the bike had lost 12 HP and 10 FP TQ, however it had really smoothed out the map. I took it for a test ride and it was exactly what I had wanted from the start, it feels just as powerful but much smoother at lower revs. I really opened it up on my 40 mile ride home and it felt great. I had watched videos on UA-cam that talked about how the 475 cam doesn't like shorter 2 into 1 pipes, but I had either dismissed or ignored the advice, however the lollipop baffle created back pressure in the same way a longer exhaust would and appears to solve or bypass the problem. Anyway hopefully that video will be out soon.
Just get up it who rides slow haha
Me, when I’m riding with the HOG chapter, all very legal 😂
Awesome information mate. Exactly what I was looking for as a 475 cam fence sitter. I would love the extra poke but would be gutted to ruin the "relaxed cruising" characteristics of my M8 so this was really helpful. Thanks again
Thanks for watching and your comments, another video on the way soon. I’ve fitted a lollipop baffle, which has improved torque and helped with the noise, which was a bit much, I’m getting it dyno’d again soon, but if it hasn’t improved enough I’ll swap it out, for either a Redshift 468 or Screaming Eagle 462 power cam.
Well your alive, it aint that fast. Bro! Are you crazy your riding on the wrong side of the road! The cars look like toys! Nice bike though!
Hi LJ, thanks for watching 👀, what part of the world do you live 🌍? And what do you ride?

I have the exact same problem on my Fast Johnny with a 475...Riding at low speeds is a challenge. I did get Ohlins front and rear and Berringer brakes with Lyndal rotors. I love it but it was also fun with just a pipe. Need another bike now:). Cheers
Hi Tifani, I have fitted a lollipop baffle, which has helped slightly, it’s going back on the dyno soon, but if that doesn’t work it’s going to be another cam change 😩. Thanks for watching 👀 👍
If I didn't have the Yamaha Raider, this would be the Harley to get!

Hey! Yeah the video is a year old, hopefully you see my question, what do you think of the white pearl against the chrome on the 2024 model?
@@peterjones4621 the white pearl looks good, although I’ve not seen it in the flesh, think the gloss black and orange is my fave 👍
I have a 114 and thinking about doing cam job. If i had a 117 i would probably just get a good tune.
It makes good power as standard, if I hadn’t been looking to go to one bike I probably would have left it. Thanks for watching 👍
I'm not a Harley fan, but for some reason I love this bike.
@@Honda_Hooligan it’s probably the best looking bike Harley make, goes pretty well too! Thanks for watching 👀 please subscribe 👍
I don't like the new square headlight, or the squared-off shapes of the tank. I wish H-D would stop trying to copy Indian and other bikes that have been copying H-D. I also wish the new CEO didn't gut like 70% of the available models. Seems like a solid bike though. I love the blacked-out motor.
Hi Jeff, good to hear from you again 👍 The looks have definitely grown on me, but I agree up to a point, as long as it’s still recognisable as a Harley and things don’t go too far.
Harley went wOKE, so there is no support for them from many bikers. Waste of time...
The whole world has gone WOKE in one way or another, a good bike is still a good bike, isn’t it?

I really liked the Pan America and very nearly bought one. I had sold my Ducati sport bike and was looking at getting an adventure bike and exploring some gravel back roads. (I live in NewZealand and there's no shortage of gravel roads here.) There were two reasons I didnt end up getting the Harley.. The resale here is very low and then, as i was about to press go and buy one, I read an article on the troubles some had had with the PA and it put me off. I ended up buying a 1250GS but often wish i had got the Harley. I was tempted by the brand and quite liked te unique style.
@@rosco950ss7 Hi, thanks for your story, I can’t blame you for going for the GS, it’s a tried and trusted formula, the Pan did have a few issues when 1st released. But im informed that they have been sorted now. The resale value is a concern, they certainly don’t hold their value like the traditional Harleys, probably because non Harley riders are unlikely to buy one, which is a shame, it’s a good bike.
When i was in my 20s/30s id have loved to own one of these, they would have been my absolute dream bike - but im in my 50s now and I'd like a bit more comfort, but they still look bloody fantastic!!

Some great advice there! Looking forward to more content! 👏
Thanks for watching and your comments, new Harley Street glide and Yamaha MT09 SP on the way soon
only a pommy would say its too much
😂 I’m taking it that you’re an Aussie then? The “too much” title doesn’t refer to power, just the way the cam changes the ride ability of the bike. Anyway thanks for watching 👍
Cheers. Keep it up.
@@jeffshootsstuff thanks, much appreciated 👍
Had one. Loved it, but pray you don't need support as Piaggio are very poor.
Where in the world 🌍 are you? I’ve heard mixed feedback
@@sweetrides8418 I've heard the same here in the US.
Nothing with an inline triple will ever be a perfect anything. Is not possible to properly balance that engine. It will always vibrate, fatiguing both itself and the rider.
Hi Craig, thanks for watching. The bike felt pretty smooth to me, what’s your favourite configuration?
Well, you’re on a bit of an island with that opinion…
@@joshbryant7363 facts are not opinions
There is no perfectly balanced MC engine, except for the I6 in a gold wing. Every other configuration has some kind of unbalanced aspect. Modern triples from triumph are more than balanced enough. See? Facts.
@@dddon513 you all seem to be only concerned with what the rider can feel? After being insulated from the vibrations by fancy engine mounts and handlebar weights. I’m not impressed if the rider thinks it’s smooth enough, I want an engine that is truly smooth. That is a large part of what makes some engines last, and others not.
My understanding is the 475 cam is basically the stock cam at least on a twin cam
Hi Sam, you may be right, but my twin cam Fat Boy never felt anything like this, although different engines may react uniquely to a similar cam. Thanks for watching 👀 👍
This is by far one of the best review videos I seen. I own a low rider st and have literally the same set up you have. One has to be realistic with what the bike can do. It is a cruiser after all jejeje but I do love to surprise sport bikes and beat them on the highway Cheers mate thanks for the video

I think its beautiful!
Great video . First time on the channel. The production quality is way higher than your view count.! The big channels always get the framing wrong and have graphics from Word 98, but you nailed it. The STriple is the best sounding bike ever. Its definitely on my to buy list. I think I only need the R now it has the LCD screen also. A striple ridden with skill is faster than a litre bike with no skill. The 10 grand bracket is so contested yet this is king. I totally agree its a masterpiece although i havent ridden the MT09 yet. Is that the next video then ?
@@PwnstarUK MT09 will be one of the next few reviews. Thanks for you kind comments 👍
It is the best and it is beautiful. Those who say otherwise don't have an idea or aren't able to afford it.

@@douglasalexander4348a lot of Ducati’s are made in the east lol
@@barrysnell6792 Yup. They also specify top quality components and materials. Your not getting that with the cheap shite your buying.lol.
Might be good but it looks so ugly. Like an overgrown insect.
As a fly fisherman and biker I see some insects as beautiful and graceful...just like this bike...a damselfly 😂
All the street triple 765 bikes are brilliant buy any one you can afford from 2017 onwards and you will be happy ..my opinion of course
Couldn’t agree more Scott 👍
Yup.
Wait till the dash display dies. You'd have to change the display, immobiliser, and ecu which will cost you an arm and a leg. The bike will not start with the dash display damaged. Basically you'd be stuck with an enormous brick with wheels. Never again another Triumph for me.
Warranty will 💯 pay for that and if you keep the bike for up to 3 years it’s no issue whatsoever, I had faults on my 1200 and they gave me a brand new bike because they were taking too long to fix mine . No hassle at all . Destination Triumph Solent were amazing 🤩
So you damaged it ?

@@douglasalexander4348 me ? No gearbox warning light on and oil pressure warning ⚠️ they couldn’t fix it so they gave me a brand new bike !
@@Cartsp70 Sorry, that was for limtc. Anyhoo, that’s great news for you. As you say, Triumph seem to fix anything no problem if its under warranty. Also I ordered some service tools (I do my own) and they arrived next day. Good riding 👍
I put the stage 2 in my 117 except I installed 30/30 cam, for me it changed the bike for the better not only in performance but other components to hopefully extend the life of the engine
Hi Billy, glad the stage 2 worked out for you, how does the bike feel at lower revs and speeds?
@@sweetrides8418 The power is linear and from what I've read iy comes on earlier than the 475 so putting around on it s not to bad, M8s like to hang around upper RPMs anyway so like you said you just have to adjust a bit, and also the 475 is bit temperamental when it comes to exhaust so you could experiment to see if that changes things for the better
@@billyfinch7341 thanks for the advice
if this had fairing , you'd loose your license... the lack thereof keeps you at sane speeds .. kinda :p
Probably true, but be nice to make that choice 😄
simple ... YES
@@vector409 what are you saying?
@@sweetrides8418 answering your title question
@@vector409 ah, great 👍 thanks for watching 👀
I looked at both the street triple and the mt-09. To my eye the Triumph is superior in fit and finish. The mt-09 was more upright and comfortable to sit on, but lacks astheticltly. Between the r and the rs I prefer the r dash and slightly more relaxed seating position. The r has pretty bland color choices.
I’d say you’re spot on there Chris, I would choose the R if I didn’t intend venturing on to the track, thanks for watching 👍
Same old wives tales from someone ‘looking’. I’ve had both, the plastics on the Yamaha are actually sturdier, the finish is as good as the Triumph, even after 6 years of being thrashed and ridden through the winter. No problems at all with reliability or finish. The Yamaha has way more grunt and more fun.. I’ve got the Triumph as my sunny day bike, it’s easier going than the yam, and have a tracer mt09 for everything else.
Douglas you are a lucky 🍀 man, hope to be riding the new MT09 soon 👍
@@sweetrides8418 👍It’s not as refined as the street T. You’ll love it for that. It’s a constant grin on your face bike.
I’ve got the ‘R’ and very happy with it, it gives me more than I need to be honest. The only bug bare for me is the one piece exhaust, I would have loved to just whip on a new ‘Race fit’ end can….😢
It would look amazing if it had one round headlight or twin round headlights.
Hi Thomas, I think they moved away from the round head lights because they wanted it to look more modern, rather than retro, but I know what you mean, the old ones do look cool. Thanks for watching.
Motodemic makes a really nice single headlight kit. I installed their single headlight on my 22 R, and it looks quite good.
