Sorry, I forgot to see the timestamps :( I mean, poupee de cire organ means decap weird organ 92 keys. Once I went to museum sinsheim, I noticed that organ was broken. Museum sinsheim & speyer & wilhelmsbau have to take care many orgels.

1st selection would have sounded better without the warbling here & there.😢

Poet and Peasant is probably one of my favourite overtures as well - it seems to work well on most organs!

Indeed it is! It is one of the best street organs in the UK, even more now given the Rosalia recently left to go back to the Netherlands again.

The two earlier Mortier organs in the Cafe are almost 100% original, with all the facades still having their original decoration, both very rare survivors! In terms of museums, I would certainly recommend that you go to either the Netherlands or Germany - there are many good museums in both countries worth visiting!

Indeed, this is a very unique organ! The pipe voicing is quite typically Hooghuys and yet at the same time it manages to sound a lot like a Waldkirch Gavioli as well.

Yes it's a glockenspiel - surprisingly I think it worked in 2017 still, only a year before this video! I don't know if it has been fixed or not.

@@MechanicalMusicTravels It's a shame about people standing in the front of the camera whilst you're trying to film the organ? I bet you're sometimes lucky to film with nobody about.

@@HarryYT22 Amersham is usually quite busy, so it's hard to get footage without people in...

@ well, I was quite young, about eight but I remember it was very loud and I seem to remember it playing ‘The Lambeth walk’, it sounded fantastic to me then but I suppose in reality it wasn’t playing as well as it does now. It was what I now call a very authentic fairground ‘working’ organ still doing its job in the centre of a ride. By the by….I wonder what became of those gallopers? They were wonderful! Orton & Spooner mounts. I was in heaven as a child going round in a world of my own. The joys of youth 😄l

​​​​​@@glennadams3395 the four-abreast roundabout (which was previously travelled in the West Country by Anderton & Rowland and later by Sam Smart of Bristol) would be considered too heavy a machine to travel regularly nowadays. It was sold in 1978 from Southend to Conklins, a Canadian amusement owners. It remains in store with them but about 14 years ago they donated it to the Province of Ottawa for eventual museum presentation. Of course, the organ remains on this side of the Atlantic.

@ many thanks for that. I often wondered what happened to it. I seem to remember when it was at the Kursaal it was level with the ground, no steps, so I presume there was a ‘pit’ for the horse rods to go into.

I think "De Nachtegaal" actually has potential to sound much better than this organ, if you listen to some of the first commercial recordings of it from the 1980's. It's a shame it has suffered so much neglect.

@@MechanicalMusicTravels I like the fact that you can see the see the little ends of the tinsel moving slightly it's the mighty air coming from the pipes.

@@HarryYT22 Yes! Although a little bit was actually getting caught in the mechanism of the triangle player - hence most of the movement...

I think it has a couple more ranks behind the facade and some rather obnoxious sounding saxophone pipes behind the false saxophones! I haven't seen this organ in years...
