video essays about music and media and stuff, i guess
The AI Music Revolution Already Happened
Contrary to what some may think, AI has had a prominent place in music for decades. From systems that could crank out random notes, to ones that could write full compositions that you couldn’t tell from a real persons, AI’s involvement in music has forced us to question how exactly music works. The future of AI in music fills us many with cautious optimism as it does existential fear at the thought of our beloved art being taken over by machines. In this video, we look back at the history of AI in music, the current, and the future. There was a lot to cover, and I didn’t want to make this video ridiculously long, so I definitely missed a few important things.

The Rock Concert That Was Run By A Biker Gang
Переглядів 3 тис.9 місяців тому
This is the story about the Altamont Free concert, an outdoor music festival orchestrated by the Rolling Stones. The event has gone down in history as one of Rock and Roll’s darkest days. It was combination of some questionable decisions in terms of organisation that led the event to turn so chaotic. Since this event, there have been few festivals that have come anywhere close to the same amoun...
The Most Disastrous Album Release Of All Time

How Advertisers Use Sound To Hack Your Brain
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
Advertisers figured out long ago how it easy it was to use sound and music to persuade the mind of consumers. Since then, a whole range of techniques have developed using sound to persuade consumer behaviour. Here are just some of them. How Reality Shows Avoid Reality
Переглядів 2,3 тис.Рік тому
Reality TV has always been a showcase of some human-kind's worst traits, but thats not to say its a reliable source for documenting human behaviour. From Love island to the Kardashians, editors and producers have found many ways to manipulate their shows into being only slightly less boring than they otherwise would’ve been. At the cost of the dignity and reputation of the contestants who they ...
The Weird Evolution of Youtube Thumbnails
Переглядів 2,9 тис.Рік тому
UA-cam thumbnails are weird. The META that follows them has always prioritised loud and obnoxious visuals over genuine quality ‘art’. Not only that, but clickbait runs rampant in most video genres. So what does this all mean? Well, essentially, the UA-cam explore page has always been likely to make your eyes bleed. That’s it. That’s my well researched conclusion. You’re welcome. Great Veritasiu...
How Two Guys Broke the Music Industry
Переглядів 4,3 тис.Рік тому
In the late 90s, the record industry was hitting record profits, everyone was rolling in money thinking "nothing will stop us now." That was at least, until Shawn and Sean created Napster and turned the whole industry upside down overnight. Too many old farts refused to accept that the times were changing, and as such, began a decades long battle for the record industry, one lasting until this ...
Are u2 a fake band😂😂
Despite people hating this album because of the way it was presented and the the way it was marketed, I think it’s a really good album on its own actually
imagine my spotless fuckin iTunes collection, then one day I woke up with the fuckin album on it, with the cringy pedo bono on the cover too. I was so mad. I think this made me delete iTunes for a while.
I never listened to the album either
I think this "disaster" is more a reflection of society than U2.
I was like OH MY GOSH I HAVEN'T WATCHED THAT ONE GUY'S VIDEOS IN MONTHS, then I realized he still hasn't posted.
U2 did a dumb thing about apple
Its interesting how U2, one of the ”do gooders” of the music world, decides to partner with Apple, one of the slavetraders of our time.
The free U2 album is overpriced has to be the scorchiest boazing burn to ever be uttered and immortalized on the internet.
I get it was and still is annoying: all these years later my dad’s phone randomly had the entire album play on a long car ride. Invasion of privacy though? Come on. People still say this 10 years on…
I never understood the hate for U2. It's one of my favourite Negativland EPs.
You ever walk around Venice beach and people keep trying to give you their demo tape? It was sorta like that but digitally
This is the first time I’ve found such a small quality channel, you should make more videos
U2 is easily the most overrated band in history.
all you videos seem hella intertaining
Theres worse albums out now that ppl are actually buying!!
I thought it was pretty cool that U2 gave away a free album. I thought there were a lot of good songs on it. I liked it.
I remember deleting it over and over again
According to people that actually like the band, it was one of the worst u2 albums
It was an awesome idea: get paid by apple. customers get the record free. All that was missing was a Yes/No option. Oh well. I bought the CD. so can't really comment. LOL.
Please make more videos I miss your content!!!!
Stay tuned! Only just getting started :)
The best songs on the album is Miracle, Every Breaking Wave, and Song For Someone
I never ever heard any song of the album lmao. I remember this thing messing my storage on my old iPod (32 GB) and I deleted it. Even nowadays I still get this album trynna start automatically when I put my AirPods on. So annoying.
Bro for half a fkn billion dollars I would gladly accept to be hated by millions of people. They litteralty made the heist of the century, hats off to them.
i wanna meet someone who unironically listens to joe biden ai covers
Nice to meet you
woot, it's almost 10 years since we've been unable to remove Bono from our iTunes!
Ai has been involved for a very long time most artists just don't admit they use it that's all it is now that it's becoming public ppl are freaking out but like this video said the revolution already happened. I use magenta myself it's fantastic I use all sorts of AI mixed with my human brain and playing hybrid is the way to use AI
I just want Dani California by RHCP by rock artists throughout history
Very interesting and well collated video!! Bump.
I couldn't care less what AI does to the pop music industry, it's already complete trash.
Fantastic, accessibilite synopsis. Your meme game proves this wasn't a 100% AI generated video - at least for now :)
14:41 That just hatsune miku
AI sympathiser.
13:04 Is it because he's light-skin? 🤔🤨
I just want a stupid background music without doing work. D:
Really great vid my friend
Interesting fact: apparently Bach had the opportunity to play around with the "Arca Musarithmica", a device invented by german polymath Athanasius Kircher. The Arca was able to generate sheet music combining patterns and moods, and was conceived to make a musician out of everyone. Years ago I worked simulating the device and understood why it did not leave trace in music history. The compositions sounded like stock music of it's time. Dull and tasteless. So history repeats, apparently.
That’s incredibly fascinating, I’ll have to look into it!
Thousands of years ago a steam engine was invented, but it could not produce much torque and was seen as nothing but a toy. I guess history must repeat itself and steam engines will forever be useless and never replace human labour, right?
how did yoy not talk about raymund scott
Nothing can replace humanity in music. We don't just enjoy music, we are inspired by it's artists and their life story, struggles, successes, morals, values and their place in a larger society. No damn robot can replace that.
But when the "artist" is also generated by AI with that back story, persona, etc, and are indistinguishable from an actual human then we won't know the difference. these artists could be created, have a wikipedia page, imdb, etc as if they were a "real" person. They will have interviews, a face to a name, etc. So, how will you know?
And yet most people listen to pop music which is controlled by teams of writers and producers with brand managers to tightly control how the artist acts, what they wear, what they say in public all to deliver a nice artificial package for the average consumer. The assertion that most people care about the "humanity" of art is a complete myth. No one cares, that's why pop music and marvel films make so much money, there is no "humanity" behind them. They're tightly controlled art production factories just like AI art.
This was a really stellar video. Nice work
I once produced a jingle and I hated it. It still loops in my mind.
I just got this recommended and I'm surprised you have only 6k subs. Very good video, enjoyed every second of it.
Loved it, awesome take! Though that byte sized bit caught me WAY off guard 😂
The wonderwall joke at the end lmao
THANK you, I'm glad someone's pointing this out. It's a long history, an interesting story and you tell it very stylishly.
14:40 unsubscribed
Valid
Hey don’t throw shade at DJ Khaled 😢
You’re right, I shouldn’t have referred to him as a musician
My current job, luckily just temporary, has the awful side effect of me having to listen to one of these awful generic SUPERHITS radio stations. Some of these works run on what feels like a 30 minute rotation, they seem to me like first drafts for a song, deemed good enough, every modern technology slapped on to make it sound current, pluck one of those female aspiring popstars from the waiting line, autotune her into oblivion and you're done. Now people listen to this. The majority of people consumes this. They don't give a fuck if something was made by an AI, hell I don't see any real difference between that crap and AI. They just want their recognizable patterns to replace the void in their heads. Oh and great video! Can't wait for this to be plagiarized by a better known youtuber. Damn I'm cynical today, where's my coffee...?
Even if AI gets to the point where it replaces music libraries, I think I'll still opt for using songs from dead games :)
