For me, Nile Adventure in Hydro Thunder is the hardest. The track itself isn't difficult, but if you want to win, it's insane. You have to master all the shortcuts, grab every boost in your path, and use the boost in the most optimal points. Then and only then will the game /maybe/ be gracious enough to let you win

Why the heck UA-cam insulted me with this BS for a recommendation I will never know!! This isn't even the last track in the game and the whole game is a breeze on all the speed classes. 😂😂😂

Not strictly a racing game, but some of the races from the original Mafia game were absolute torture.

I agree, never beat that ice stage. My first thought of hard Grand Prix was Diamond cup from F zero GX (I think it is called diamond) the one that starts with trident and ends with phantom road. That was so brutal! But, I I beat it, but not Wipeout, so that answers that I guess 😂

Did the developers of Star Wars Racer play this game and took it as a challenge?

I remember having a hard time finish it in rapier class back in 95, but it didn't feel so frustrating, and the music was great ! Wipeout 2097 last race in phantom class with piranha was fun also.

Avoid these on emulators, the input lag ruins them. I have 2097 and playing on OG hardware and CRT is completely different to playing them on an emulator. Like completely different as if your playing a different game. V-rally is another that is 100 times better on OG hardware/CRT. F1 2000 is another thats crap on emulator then weirdly good on a CRT. Want a real challenge? Get good at 'Bust a Move' on emulator... lol the input lag is so bad you can barely get a streak going. Ive spent oever 10 years emulating PS1 thinking yeah this is getting good, only to set up a CRT last year and realise PS1 emulation while visually accurate, is NO WAY near the same gameplay, so much input latency, when on OG hardware and a CRT you get none, like actually none at all.

I bought a full on new Nintendo 3DS during Covid because for whatever reason the one I already had didn’t have access to FZero on the game store. And I bought it because of the soundtrack. If brings me back to some of the happiest memories of my childhood, playing with my friend, Tyler on the Super Nintendo. I even remember telling him I really just loved the music, and him responding that it was “racing music.” I’m not sure either of us could explain what “racing music” was, but now when I think F-Zero, I think “racing music.” And honestly, that was even further hammered home as a concept when I played Jet Moto, which also had a killer soundtrack!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I doubt anything can compare to some of the courses on kartrider

Beating Silverstream in 1st in the Rapier speed class Is absolutely one of my proudest racing game achievements (even though I used save states to retry it but shut up). I kept getting 4th for the longest time then all of the sudden it just clicked and I was able to do a flawless run and manage a first! Getting good at Silverstream is really interesting because it changes the way you look at other tracks too, it makes you look for more optimal lines out of necessity.

Jet Moto 2 Nebulous: "hold my beer"

I would say that Abyss from Star Wars Episode 1 Racer has this one beat. That track is just sadistic.

Absolute masterpiece of a game here. Played to death through my life, still something I enjoy coming back to. I personally quite like the punishing unforgiveness of crashing in this game. Although 2097 was a lot more refined in that aspect, you still can't deny getting through a hot lap on the OG as rewarding.

There was a reason they nerfed the track when they cribbed the layout for Terafumos in WipEout 64.

This was clickbait... i've seen lots of harder tracks than this one, but even so i wouldn't dare to say wich one is definitely the hardest of all bc that requires you to play every single track on every videogame that ever existed.

Games where the computer needs to cheat hard always got to me. Having to block the AI from passing rather than focusing on your driving. Ridge Racer and NFS had a lot of this going on.

The cars aren't flying... They're literally hovering. If they were flying none of these courses would make sense

The first Wipeout was a bit too unforgiving for me. I mostly played Wipeout 2097, because instead of slamming to a halt when you touched a wall, you could scrape along it and maintain much of your speed. I loved the third and fourth tracks. Complex enough to be challenging, but could be completed at breakneck speed without having to brake. However, like the original game, the later levels got pretty punishing.
