Wehrlein was a great driver, it's a shame he didn't a real chance, he could have been great and should have gotten in a great seat, just how f1 is unfortunately
Wherlein struggled in qualifying against Haryanto, got out-raced by Ocon who arrived through the course of the season (not to mention he humiliated him in the rain at Interlagos despite it was his first time driving an F1 car in those conditions) and barely out-performed Ericsson, the worst driver on the grid back then! How is this a guy a better alternative to Bottas?
@@JebMotorsport ` I'm sorry, but your video is highly incomplete! For example, you said " he out-raced and out-qualified Ericsson for most of the season ", which is true, but you fail to provide datas and statistics, something immensely important for that matter, especially against a driver as bad as Ericsson (for F1's standard i mean)! Wehrlein was just (on average) 0.049 quicker than Ericsson on average, the smallest margin between all teammates H2H (a rookie Leclerc, to give a better perspective, was 0.510 quicker than Ericsson on average, the BIGGEST margin between all teammates H2H), out-qualifying him "only" 11-7. In the races, again, really tight when both finished, 6-4 in favor of Wehrlein (rookie Leclerc out-raced Ericsson 9-3 when both finished, this is without even mentioning that out of the 3 times the Swedish managed to beat the monegasque, 2 were at the first 2 races of the season, first 2 races of Charles Leclerc).
Nasr was also a below average (for F1 standard) driver! Some of you don't remember he was out-qualified and out-raced by Ericsson (who's also a poor driver) and he often didn't respected team's orders!
7:27 He crossed the line second in Mexico, but got a 5 second penalty for cutting the final chicane. Classified 6th. He did finish 2nd at the preceding race in Santiago though.
Why Mercedes dropped him choosing a poor man's Nico Rosberg Vallteri Bottas he's no flying finn and Sauber choosing Marcus Ericsson dispite Pascal scoring in both seasons it's like a 2021 Haas, I hope more people know about the F1 politics
I may repeat myself but: Just 0,049 faster (on average) than Ericsson (the worst driver of the grid back then) in qualifying and only beat him 6-4 in the races (when both finished) , barely out-qualified Haryanto, humiliated by Ocon (who arrived through the course of the season) at Interlagos! Just compare "Ericsson vs Wehrlein" and "Ericsson vs rookie Leclerc", maybe you will (finally) understand! Why do you think Toto Wolff chose to put Ocon in the Force India instead of Wehrlein? (He even said he was disappointed by the performed compared to Haryanto)
quentin, the driver who beat ericcson in 2018 at sauber is a title challenger this year his qualifying is godly but his race pace is a mixed bag he also lacks this sort of leadership quality that seb and alonso had in their times at ferrari, which is key if you want to mount a title challenge so there's that i hope i am proven wrong tho, leclerc deserves a championship ngl

Just another sad loss of a potential great talent. I think he was better than Ocon, and maybe even better than Bottas, he was absolutely masterful at extracting points finishes from what was statistically the worst car on the grid every year.

It's such a shame, because I think that he really could have been a better alternative to Bottas

the irony of getting kicked out of the team for scoring points

6:41 So, you're saying he was driving in Azerbaijan, then Ericsson hit him? Yeah, I've heard that one before.
I always thought that the fact that he was dropped was a travesty. Guess we'll never know how he'd turn out if he was still racing in F1...
