In this video I show a little detective work to determine if this black faux crackle paint is original or not. When it comes to how to repair a clock not everything is easy to understand. Clock finishes can be difficult. I also show everything wrong with this clock in a prelude to repairing it. @@antiRuka That is so nice! Thank you!!
Very nice, stay happy/Sunny. Wish you well.
@@brianbartlett9823 Thank you, Brian! You too!
To me, the dial that you took off, didn't really look that bad. I probably would have left it alone, however I did enjoy your video, well done.
Thank you, Steven! The smaller circle on that dial was for a second sweep hand, which this clock didn't have so I thought it looked kind of odd. I should have talked about it more. 😁
Nice to see you working on the clock. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving Day!

Hi abdurheim
Did you watch the video?
@time4clocks a little
Great job. For heavily tarnished and crudded up bezels and such, I like to use NOXON 7 Metal Polish while using a wooden craft stick for those really stubborn spots. This is then followed with a wipe down with a shop towel dipped in a water and baking soda solution. I use Simichrome for the final polish to give the bezel that "POP". Of course the brass will eventually tarnish unless it is sprayed with lacquer. However, your dial pan wasn't that bad. So, using Simichrome was the right decision.
I never heard of Noxon 7 before. I looked it up and the prices almost made my eyes pop out. lol Thanks for the tips. Never tried baking soda and water either, but I do know that baking soda and coconut oil will give you glowing skin. 😁
@time4clocks You're very welcome. The water and baking soda solution is used to neutralize the ammonia in the Noxon 7. Hey, I use plain coconut oil as a hand moisturizer and for popcorn too. 😂
@@brettfavrewelfarequeen9886 😁👍

As you turn 60, you start to realize how beautiful life is. Wisdom starts to majestically creep in while you ponder you past. You realize how much you have embraced all the changes while adapting to life. Then you turn 70. Now your on your way to appreciating every day that passes. I'm there now, and realize how life is fleeting.
Thank you for that Michael. I hope at 70 you are living life to the fullest and enjoying! 😁
thanks you. I found the one I was looking for albeit marked unknown. It was in the characters. Plus my monitor maybe made the lower alpha numeric blurry. At any rate thanks for your work. Impressive and full of Love
Glad to help! Thank you!
That smoothing brush pack looks like a great thing to have. Can you give me the info on who makes it or where you can buy that? Thanks.
The Smoothing Broaches were a no name brand that I bought on ebay. I don't see them now but if you search for smoothing broaches you will see several that are similar. I think they were made in China. Timesavers or Ronnell Clock Co probably sell them as well.
No one can tell you how to trim your bush!!! 😂 Amen brother

The weather was always so nice whenever I visited AZ. But I've never experienced Arizona in the summertime, I hear it can be quite sweltering.
For perspective we had over 70 days this summer at 110 degrees or higher. The weather is pretty nice at other times. I can usually wear crop tops till mid November. 🤣🤣
@time4clocks Wow. Is it that hot from morning until night?

The Graffiti Art there is Arizona is really good and I always thought if you could hire the person that did the art that you liked, wouldn't that be great. If you are going to try it, all I got to say is practice, practice, practice. Or, you just try to amaze me if you are lucky enough to have that talent. Wow, that ugly green New Haven dial and hands is impressive.

Best of luck with the new job Ab. I look forward to your video of the paper dial replacement, good luck with that too!
Thank you, John!! I am working up my courage to attack that dial. 😁
So great there’s a bike lane that enables some economic transport. In some parts of the country, even sidewalks are a luxury. Good luck on finding work; i’m lookin’ too! 😅 And keep up the clock repairs Abdur!
Thank you, Omji! I am working part time now. I hope you will be successful also and find something nice. Much appreciated!
Wow, can I relate soo much to being avoidant, having no self-esteem, fearing judgment of others, being abandoned, etc. It's such a struggle working through these things. People who don't go through it can't really comprehend how much of a fight it can be to just live as you are. I'm interested in your personal journey, so I'll follow your other channel.
What's your other channel called? I couldn't find it.
Hi Saraphine!! You found my little hide out. YAY! Thank you for your nice comment! I'm sorry that you relate with many of these issues that I talked about because they are painful. I don't wish that on anyone, and you have my full support in any way I can help. Sometimes I think I'm getting better and then I'm laying on the floor watching the ceiling fan for hour. I actually made this video about a month or more ago when I made another channel and then deleted it because that's what I'm good at. lol It was a test. I am going to start the new channel soon and I will let you know when I do. I might even do it tomorrow, but I had a tough day. Your support means the world to me. Thank you! 🥰
@time4clocks I understand. A lot of times, it takes so much effort to begin something or wanting to quit right away or when it gets difficult. I know I struggle with my brain telling me, "What's the point?" much of the time. Or wanting to be perfect right away that I get frustrated or self-conscious so I don't try. And of course being so concerned about being judged or criticized that it feels easier to avoid doing things or putting myself in a position for people to easily do that. It's a protective mechanism to shut down or hide away from everyone. Sometimes, it truly is safer to secret oneself away, to protect from harm. Even though a lot of times people don't realize how their words or actions cause harm, it's too much of a risk to be subject to it, because it can incapacitate you or their hurtful words will play over and over for days, months, years. I can remember many situations that hurt me that happened years ago, and even though it may have lasted a few seconds or minutes, it's never left me. And any time it happens again, whether to me personally, or hearing or witnessing it, or reading about it happening to others, it triggers that lifetime of pain to come rushing up.
@@SaraphineTheMer-Queen You express yourself better than I can, Seraphine, and what you wrote is 100% relatable. I like to think I'm getting better, then an episode hits and I feel totally crushed. I think I recover a bit faster now but it's still difficult. Hopefully, you will become better also.🌷🌷
@@time4clocks I think you express yourself quite well in your videos. You have a gentle, calm, relaxing demeanor that is pleasant to watch.

Great video. My grandfather had grandfather clock that had winchester chime...i remember sleeping in front room and being startled Come midnight. It was soothing during the day. Lol.
Clocks bring back so many memories. Do you have a grandfather clock today? 😁
Good video for folks that don't know about mechanical clocks. I have a suggestion you could do a video showing how to adjust clocks to run faster or slower. You are very good explaining things in a nice way.
I appreciate that Elbridge, and that is actually a good idea! Thank you!! 😁
Thanks for this.
You inspired it, Michael! Should have done it years ago. I would encourage everyone interested in Art Deco design and related periods to visit Michael Pacitti's channel VisualLearningDesign, it is packed with awesome content! 🥰

It still took some elbow grease, that's for sure! 🤣
Abdur - I don't mean this to diminish your sense of "issues." That you acknowledge you could have issues, that you choose to make steps to rectify them, and that you are willing to talk about it afterward? Holy cats, Sibling...you're doing exceptionally well. I salute you for your introspection. 💜💜💜 P.S. I adore mechanical clocks...I am going to have to watch more of your videos!!

Indeed, Jordan! 😁
Nice job man, turned out awesome! Man, did you help me out a bunch! I have a motor real similar to the one you were working on! I had no wires coming out of the motor at all, and was wondering how to get the cover removed from the motor! I tried spinning the little brass nut off of the spindle, with no luck! About the time you were prying the spindle up out of the motor, I was looking at mine under a magnifying glass wondering if the little cork screw part might come off of the spindle! Just happen to look up at the screen the same time you were prying it loose! So that's how it comes off, I thought! Thanks for the help! Awesome job, and a great video!
Glad to help. Much of this is just trial and error and learn as you go. Good luck with your clock!
My family has a 5 generation way of dealing with clutter in a LIVING area. You build sheds. Then you come back a decade later and clean them out.
Good heavens! Don't tell them about storage pods. 🤣🤣
You seem to be at the stage of 'growing out your bangs' with your hair. I've been there, done it having grown out an undercut pixie to a long bob. I'd recommend a headband. Especially the cute fabric ones with a knot on top. Very cute and practical.
Thank you for that, April! I'm wearing a headband as I type this but it's just an ordinary one. I will look into the fabric ones with the knot on top, definitely! Pixie cuts are very cute. I'm just at that awkward hair stage where you can't do too much but getting there. 🤣🤣Thank you so much for your nice comment!!!
A very impressive work from you!
Thank you, April!! That's so sweet! 😊

Aw...! I have a Segway scooter! I love it. 💜
@@amethystaherrick Scooter girls are the best!! I just got a new part time job at a grocery store and I can ride my scooter right down the bike lane about 3.5 miles one way. Not filling up the gas tank every month is another way to really save money! I make less money but gave myself a raise. lol 🥰🌷
@@time4clocks - you have a much nicer scooter than I do. Mine's fun, but it's a stand-up, only going about 30 miles on a charge kind of thing. I'd *love* a better one, but given I stay home most of the time, I'm not certain it's worth spending the money now... 💜
That really is a tight workshop. You have so many clocks on the floor, are they in working order. Is the rest of your house filled with clocks on walls and shelves or tables.
They are not in working order. The area is just condensed but the rest is not like that. 😁
@@time4clocks Looks like future projects.
With Clock Repair, we are always looking for something to hold our tools, parts, and products we use on our clock repairs. You can see in my videos, I have so much in my small room and should do the same. I tried, but only could get rid of small boxes that I would use to hold finials when I would spray them. You have a great day.
Thanks Mike. With a small space it is a constant struggle, but we'll get there! 😁
You exemplify courage. Great conversation !
Thank you, Troy! I wish I had more of it!! 🤣🤣
I can relate 😢
Getting a handle on some of these issues when young can definitely help you with a better life going forward. All the best to you, Jesse! 🥰
You literally fix clocks...to work as designed by their creator. The individual clock may have the inclination to run poorly and you correct those issues to make it function in the true. Correct time, correct form, clear and truthful function because that's what a clock is for. You are no different. Simply because you like something or feel something doesn't automatically make it good, true or beautiful. You were created, you may have issues from the start, but that doesn't mean that those issues are the right way to define yourself. Good luck.
I think the greatest harm is going through life pretending one doesn't have any issues. Socrates said "the unexamined life is not worth living." When I started examining my life, for me, that is when living began. Everyone is different but this is what I have discovered. Thank you, Keith.
I really appreciate your videos wheather thay are about clocks or personal groth. Here is an amusing story about myself. When I was young, a teenager, I admired and thought I would like to be like Humphry Bogart, not him exactly but the charectors he was in several movies. Two of the movies and charectors I liked best were The Maltese Falcon as Sam Spade and High Sierra as Roy Earle. Well I soon realized I was not ever going to be like Humphry Bogart or one of his charectors in the movies. I was way too shy, eventually as I got older I got over that. That really happened when I started working and doing well in my job resulting in being advanced to better positions. I am happy for you being true to yourself.
Thank you, Elbridge. Self-discovery for me is not a journey without pain but the alternative is far worse. Teenage years are the worst. Staying busy can be a form of therapy I suppose but too much and people don't have time to really know themselves when they are exhausted all the time. It is a fine line and many years ago people never even considered such notions, only that this is the role you are going to play, father, mother and you don't have to like it, it's just expected, that feelings are irrelevant, etc. Well, I hope you have a great day! 😁
A lovely eloquent talk. I appreciate learning about you. ❤️🐩
Thank you, Poodle! I found this video on my camera and decided not to publish it at the time but seeing it I thought it might be helpful for someone and watching it actually helped me because I was feeling down yesterday, and I gave myself a pep talk. 🥰🥰
@ yes. I keep remembering that we don’t have forever on this planet. I’m 63 now and I’m starting to feel free. I comment often on channels and when I do, I do it sincerely. Some think I try to win over. But I speak from my heart and give credit where credit is due. I truly want others to feel my appreciation for their thoughts. Every time I leave a comment I know there might be a reply that could wound. It’s at that moment I realize I don’t really care anymore ❤️🐩
@@elderlypoodle9181 I think the sensitivity it takes to leave a comment shows that you do care but just don't let things bother you as much. 🥰
It reminds me what Alice Cooper said one day..." If you don't like me i don't care...f...k you." And it 's how i see life. Don't stop growing on your path.
Thank you, Richard! 😁
