Today, I am excited to share with you my one and only one rambling rose in my garden, Dorathy Perkins!
It is an antique rose breed by E. Alvin Miller in 1901. Once upon a time, it was one of the most popular rambler in people's garden. It is famous for blooming profusely in cluster and I can totally see why people are attracted by this very charming rose.
I planted it 3 years ago from 1 gallon. It quickly covered the entire gazebo for me within the 1st year. What you see here is only 1 plant. It gives me some blooms for the past 2 years in spring and it is an once bloomer. I must admit that I was a little disapointed last year. However, when it reach the 3 years mark this spring, it really shower me with all the blooms. Just wow!!
Due to how vigorous this rose is growing, I will not recommend it for beginner rose gardener. But if you have the space, patience and time to tame and grow this rose, I will say definitely go for it. It is indeed a very whimsical rose and just going make you want to hang around it when it blooms. A true dream come true moment.
