What High Stakes Pros Know That Low Stakes Players Don’t (Round 2)
Want to leave low stakes poker behind? Join our 28 Day Bootcamp here: www.hungryhorsepoker.com
If you're new to our channel, we are Marc Goone (the guy in the videos) and Gethen Jacobs (the guy who doesn't enjoy being in videos), and we are the co-founders of Hungry Horse Poker. Here's our background:
Marc began playing live poker in 2015 and built his initial bankroll playing $1/2 live. In 2017 he began playing full time in LA, where he quickly climbed stakes to the biggest publicly accessible games ($10/20/40). He began commentating for Live at the Bike and Hustler Casino Live, which allowed him to play as big as $200/400.
Gethen began playing online poker over a decade ago where he worked his way up from $7 Sit 'N Go's to $5k Turbos. During the pandemic he mostly played 1k and 2knl cash games online and won north of 8bb/100. He also began to play some of the largest private games in LA, where he regularly played as big as $400/800.
Gethen and Marc met in 2021, and quickly bonded over a shared approach to the game. In late 2022, they began offering 28 Day Bootcamps to help serious players climb to high stakes just like them, and Hungry Horse was born.
Why do we give away all this sauce for FREE on UA-cam? We want beginner and intermediate players to learn from these videos and start winning NOW, so when they are ready to climb to high stakes they come to Hungry Horse to take the next step.

    I've heard Marc call pocket aces the second best hand in poker more than once. If aces are the second best hand, then what is the best hand in poker?

    Hi Mr. Horse! I love your videos so much! Not only are they very informative, but their also entertaining. Their is one thing I'm am struggling with with your videos. And that's determining if a person is capped or not. 😕 is there any advice you have on that that could help improve my skills? Thank you very much for your videos!

      Something that just thought of, does the flop board range have anything to do with whether they are capped or not?

    If you fold KK heads up, then you should simply not play poker. If there’s four players before you, who all shipped, then it’s a different story

    Hi sir, you dont check oop in 4bet pot like in 3bet pot? Any reasons?

  • @JakeKoenig
    @JakeKoenig 4 години тому

    Yes you flopped 5th nuts, but the preflop raises likely priced out the straight flush hands, so you can be cautiously optimistic with an assumed 2nd nuts hand, unless 8/7 suited is in someone's range at the table.

    I’ve been watching a bunch of your vids, and there’s a lot of helpful shit, but I feel like many of the videos are focused on hands where you have a set or a bluff, which are nowhere as common as how best to play something like top pair

    Every time I notice the plop sound effect with each bet, it’s like noticing my own breathing or blinking. Every other sound effect is fine because they occur much less often, but this particular one makes it hard to stay on the video

    In what universe does someone fold the nut flush to a raise just because river paired the board? You just have to take the L there if they aren't bluffing, but they're bluffing so much more often than they're turbo nutted

  • @hornetguy9063
    @hornetguy9063 9 годин тому

    Q7 dude is a legend. Read the situation perfectly and probably deduced there’s no way you’re overbetting AK on the river

  • @hornetguy9063
    @hornetguy9063 9 годин тому

    There’s honestly a case to be made to just flat the initial open against players like this. Even guys with occasional spaz buttons will be polar. They might just flat your open with JJ. I’ve seen passive dudes call raises with QQ routinely, prepared to start spewing if there’s no A or K on the flop

  • @hornetguy9063
    @hornetguy9063 9 годин тому

    I’d even have a tough time finding the shove there. I’d assume a much bigger range of MUBS

    55 should’ve bet $50 into the pot waited for the re-raise or flat call. Once the diamond came up Should’ve checked and called anything form $100-175 to see a river. If the river doesn’t pair and he jams all in fold.

    Question for you. Lets say villian instead bet something like 70-80$ would you say their range looks more like single pairs up to maybe TT. Would you still call or check raise here

  • @davids4063
    @davids4063 11 годин тому

    This one works when they don’t have AK on the river. But the hand here plays just fine as a bluff catcher.

    • @TheBrandonmac
      @TheBrandonmac 9 годин тому

      If you put him on trip J on the turn, then yeah because the result is identical. And the only hands that would call a bet are ones that beat you. An overpair would get out of the way of any sizable bet, so the value is too utterly thin.

    Gotta say I can’t really get behind raising with the J8 in vihns spot… but well played Mr Horse, you knew he was value raising wide, he’s basically repping a full house with this raise, not sure why he would want to do that with top two though on this board unless he thinks you are somehow folding 67?!!

  • @davids4063
    @davids4063 12 годин тому

    He soul read you for your hand. You telegraphed your own hand there. The other portion of your read is probably correct but I would consider making this line a bit more polar with a range of AA only and some AK AQ or A5 bluffs. It’s not bad to have a frequency of AK or AQ go check check on the flop and Aces is a lot more protected than KK, the ace magnets. With hands like KK QQ and another portion of your big cards, you wanna be betting out and going for 3 streets VRs those middling pairs and if you get raised you can evaluate your opponent accordingly. But with that read on your opponent fold!!

    Betting more than pot screwed you. Betting pot and over pot has the same fold equity. Good kings are calling both sizes. A 9 or a 7 is less likely to look u up if you bet a bit less
