I learned a lot from you Marc, you are a perfect teacher, just watching your video makes my game better as I apply new skills in my game and they work as a charm. But now knowing your strategy I see so many nice spots to exploit your game like just calling with a strong hand on a wet board or betting with a small size with nuts and etc., I just wish nobody else ever see your videos but me, the content is just priceless but at the same time feels a bit vulnerable. Thanks for your hard work, it is really appreciated!
this series alone has increased my win rate more than anything else. very easily digestible concepts by simplifying strategy over every street and understanding other players ranges better than ever. thanks
I dont wanna argue PLO bomb pots aren’t poker, cause they are. But I’d still be curious to see what the winning totals and hourly EV drop to if you subtract all the PLO pots.
Bombs have become very popular where I play in the PNW, and since they’ve been around a little bit longer than the rest of the country , most of our regs have adapted. The first year, people used to blast off and get decimated with sets, small flushes, two pairs. It’s a game of protected value and redraws. You need showdown value on both boards to be aggressive, and board dynamics are hugely important, identifying what the nuts are, and how a variety of new cards can change them, assessing your hand strength against the current nuts as well as potential new nuts. Rivers can and do change EVERYTHING. My general rule of thumb is over folding on paired boards. Flopping or turning the nut flush and then the board pairs on the River is brutal and will bite you in the ass more often than not. You can’t commit too many chips on the earlier streets unless you’re at least free rolling one board
New episode let’s go! Anything is possible if you believe in it, I do with this guy, obvious talent and such clear thought process! Your videos are helping me massively cheers mate, best free content around in 2024 keep up the good work! 😁
In the PLO spot at the 11:30 mark even if you think you’re getting quartered 80% of the time you have to call. It’s $700 to get a quarter of a $2450 pot which nets you nearly the entire bet back. Love the content :) please stop making everyone better!
Do you think you could implement a hand count into a coupe videos? I think something that is important that a lot of new players and even just players that are impatient need to realize is how much folding actually occurs.
I've thought this was possible since day 1, because I am around $80 at $1/3 $500 cap with similar total hours because I play one session a week. My win rate is 95% because of this channel.
I said similar, so 150 hours, roughly 4K hands. But, it’s less the sample size and more observing how bad the player pool is that makes me think it’s possible
I’m genuinely torn about this hand 28:35. On one hand, it is very impressive. The way that you steal these pots because you have so much confidence about what the other person has but at the same time you blow these pots up and end up wagering $225 and $1100 to win a couple hundred bucks altogether. Alternatively, you can just take the $25 loss and move on. But also, since this is fundamental to the way you play it changes the entire dynamic of how people respond to you I want to love it, I don’t know what to think
I've learned a lot from this challenge that I have applied to my deep stacked games. The #1 thing I learned was 200BB poker is a lot different than 100BB poker. I don't know if I would call 5/5 1000cap low stakes or not, I mean where I play 2/5 is the biggest game they spread and are lucky to get 2 tables on the weekend, and that's at the biggest Casino in the world - WinStar in Oklahoma. There is a 2/5 1,500 cap in Irving Texas and a 1/3 match the stack in Fort Worth Texas but again, they only run on the weekends. So, if you have a game filled with week loose-passive players who are deep stacked - this strategy will crush them. If not deep stacked they just do what they do and call you - and they never fold.
“I am the best 5/5 player in the world,” is a crazy statement…the even crazier thing is Marc actually might be able to back that up if he can complete this challenge and he’s doing it so far. It’s kind of like when Magnus Carlsen gets asked who the best chess player is…he knows it’s him.
@@orcishhordezThere are players that would be better than Marc at live 5/5 for sure, but that’s not the point, those players are playing higher stakes for a better hourly. While Marc is playing 5/5 regularly, whatever the reason, he’s in the running.

@michaelblackburn6151 the game is really deep (can match the big stack after the 1st hour). Most times plays with a $6 mandatory UTG straddle. And double board PLO bomb pots every dealer change. One Day, started the hand with 1900, ended the hand with 5200.
I played almost 600 hours in the last 2 months at 2/5 1000 cap at MGM National Harbor and I made almost 60k, so it’s possible. I think I can do way better than this, I make mistakes all the time. I’m interested in your bootcamp but I’ll be playing until next Wednesday fulltime before I go back to my country for a few months. I’ll try to apply for it in a few weeks for December. Great video and channel you have 👌
2:43 can someone please explain how chopping works? Why is it a chop here. At my home game there was broadway on the board with A K Q 10 X.. I have J 2 and friend has J 6 and he took down the pot with 6 kicker. Don’t worry it was only $5 all in, in a $10 buy in game. Should we have chopped since we share the nut straight?
really cool to hear the guy repeat your mantra of "the best bluff". clearly isn't a horrible player either, and he's bound to be a crusher after the bootcamp
This challenge is 100% possible under 2 certain circumstances. 1. Bigger buyin than $500 max. 2. Playing with recs. Edging 20bb/hr with other crushers/solid regs won’t be possible but with the right player pool. Definitely possible
Love your content! Can you help me square something that you have said across your videos? On the one hand, you encourage betting 100% of the time when, heads up, in position on the flop. And at other times you mention villains are often over-stabbing in position on the flop, which can be exploited. These seem like incompatible concepts in the same game plan but I'm sure there's something I'm missing.
If you're in position, you'd only be betting when your opponent checks the flop. I'm not sure what specific advice Mark was offering here, but that seems like the way to resolve the conflict.
both of these things are 100% true, correct. when we bet 100% of the time ip, opponents are not xr near enough and are fast playing too muchv alue. when we x 100% of the time oop, opponents are stabbing too much and telegraphing strength with sizing. both of these things are true.
So are you protecting yourself here by always betting about the same size, or are you just confident that you can exploit other players better than they can exploit you? I play mainly in small home games (.25/.50, but plays like .5/1 or bigger) with my college friends and they will xr quite a bit on boards that are better for their range. Are they just better than casino 5/5 players?
Love your content. Question. How do you feel about the dealer straddle. I feel like I have the edge from that position and most people at low stakes just call it allowing me to play perfect. See a lot of flops in position and I can do a lot of button raising preflop.
Hi Mark. @3:25. You choose the big bet, big bet line here rather than going for the xr with the combo draw. You mention that this is because of villains stack size, villain being quite short you say this might work better. Could you explain this concept please ? As in, why would villain's shorter stack lean you towards this line? Thank you for the awesome content as per usual.
Marc, how often do you take a break? Eg every hour? 2 hours? Also, are you more likely to take a break after a frustrating hand? (if you care about the money, not in 5/5)
I’m playing 2/3/6 $500 cap 10% rake $15 capped in Sydney. Games are really good. Especially weekends, over 8 tables big player pool throughout the week. Out of 40hrs the $6 straddle is on probably 10-15 hrs of play out of the 40. On a challenge to beat the game for over $40 an hour with a good sample of 500hrs plus. I’m at 150hrs experiencing some good ol variance. Do you guys think it’s achievable? What do you think Marc?

most people dont bluff multiway pots so there's really no incentive to give draws a good price to just flat your bet. Much better to let someone bet with a set or 2 pair or a draw so you can drop the hammer.
Hey, curious what's the delay on the vlogs? I've played a few hands with you and been waiting to see that session but so far haven't seen any footage from that table.
I'm going to respectfully boycott these episodes with comments until the sideways banana clip comes back in to the intro. Either way, thanks for the episode Marc and Gethen.
His whole “what do you HaAaVe” schtick and ensuing table talk is the only thing about him and his channel that irks me. It just comes off a little slimy. Otherwise love him
That KK vs QQ hand, you knew what he had, why didn't u bet a size on the river that his QQ, JJ can call? 10, 25, 35 or even 50% might get called. I think you left value on the table, what do you think?
Tanking on the double board bomb pot doesn't make sense when you have the nuts on one board. 700 for a total of 2450. Even in the worst case scenario when you chop one board you get $610 back.
So in the first session you played 8 hours and showed us 11 NLH hands and two PLO. My question is how many hands per hour do you think you're playing? How can that effect your image vs getting called when bluffing?
I get so annoyed when people at the table try to “table talk” and it just comes out as nonsense. Like this guy is telling you to fold but the action is on him lmao
Thank you for the great quality content. I must admit after watching your videos at first I was a little skeptical and could not relate on how to apply to my local games.. but my eyes are opening thanks to the ability of your content to be able to connect. ps is it possible to lose the 70's porn star moustache please?
So the hand at 4:05 where you had a combo draw and you checked than got called twice and got looked up. It got me thinking. I know you say chk raise oop w combo draws, and he might've folded...but he many people will put you on a flush draw which is why I chk raise a set for ex only mostly on drawy boards. He looked you up because he figured you wouldn't chk top pair on a wet board so he looked you up on the turn and river w 2nd pr. I guess maybe the worse the player maybe the less you should chk raise w draws because there's no fold equity? Just a thought. Not sure what you think on it.
YEAH what's the deal with that grabbing arm thing?😂 Isn't the point of the inner ellipse on the table? Put the chips within the ellipse so the dealer can reach them
It seems like Marc keeps getting in spots where he value owns himself/is surprised when somebody tank calls and he chops. So many try hard nit types in my 2/5game nowadays. Just bluff such villains to death and don't go for thin value against them I've learned.
At 26:54: Why do you say that the size is necessarily wrong? If you're really at an incredibly passive table that doesn't 3-bet enough and is inelastic with sizings, then you're in the perfect spot to open raise exactly to the strength of your hand: Go big with your strong hands, and small with your weak but playable hands (especially in position). This is a very common exploit you'll see with solvers when you node-lock opponent into being very passive: Hands generally just choose the pot size their hand class would want to play, and bet that amount. If you really think your opponents will catch onto your strategy and counter-exploit you, which seems doubtful to me, then if you're a very strong exploitative player, you can more rapidly recognize their adjustments than they can re-adjust to you, and start min-raising AA and punishing their 3-bets. Of course, this is, in my opinion, giving 2/5 live players too much credit. Nobody except the occasional live pro, if even that, will exploit you in this way.
Of course not. You've never seen these guys before and you will never see them again. Would take at least 100 hours playing with someone to tell if they are balanced or not.
I learned a lot from you Marc, you are a perfect teacher, just watching your video makes my game better as I apply new skills in my game and they work as a charm. Good play even though you lost when he hit the flush on the river on the hand around 8:00.
Hey, curious what's the delay on the vlogs? I've played a few hands with you and been waiting to see that session but so far haven't seen any footage from that table.
about 2 months
@@hungryhorsepoker lmao my bad, I'm the euro conservative pro that opened to 15 at minute 27.
I'm going to respectfully boycott these episodes with comments until the sideways banana clip comes back in to the intro. Either way, thanks for the episode Marc and Gethen.
ok fair!
7:03 -- haha, I literally just watched this hand on reels a second ago
I've done this for almost 8 years. Random table I dont think its possible. Whale hunting absolutely.
Can you explain what the guy that had pocket kings against your 10 five of diamonds could’ve done better pre-flop?
😂just straight lying to people at the poker tables and them taking you seriously always gets me😂
His whole “what do you HaAaVe” schtick and ensuing table talk is the only thing about him and his channel that irks me. It just comes off a little slimy. Otherwise love him
That KK vs QQ hand, you knew what he had, why didn't u bet a size on the river that his QQ, JJ can call? 10, 25, 35 or even 50% might get called. I think you left value on the table, what do you think?
Dollar amount trumps frequency of getting called. AA was still in villains range on river.
Another episode! Let's goo
omg
Top Tier Video Marcus Goone! Also why do you chew your hoodie sleeves? 40:37 🫶🏽😘
it’s a hoodie i’ve owned for 20+ years. never chewed the sleeves. i like it.
Someone explain to me how the first hand chop ? new at the game .....
Next challenge try this at commmerce 5 5 500 cap. I domt think its possible there
no
Berkey's hair tattoo lol
Isn’t it super optimistic to expect the guy to fold Qx when your line doesn’t make much sense? @29:00
Tanking on the double board bomb pot doesn't make sense when you have the nuts on one board. 700 for a total of 2450. Even in the worst case scenario when you chop one board you get $610 back.
u think i know how to do math? u thought wrong
So in the first session you played 8 hours and showed us 11 NLH hands and two PLO. My question is how many hands per hour do you think you're playing? How can that effect your image vs getting called when bluffing?
id guess 20-25 hands per hour. would be significantly more without dbplo as those slow things down a lot
did I just got mogged by the thumbnail?! 🤨🤨
13:50 Did you know that hand is called the octo-crab? 🐙🦀
keep going at least 700 hours don't stop at 300
Why would you fold 57s in small blind in multi way pot? Isn't it worth seeing a flop? I know you did, but you said it's a usual fold.
I get so annoyed when people at the table try to “table talk” and it just comes out as nonsense. Like this guy is telling you to fold but the action is on him lmao
More purple boy table pls
What's the difference between the "monkey stabbing" that you say recs do and the "range betting" that you do?
a lot
@@hungryhorsepoker no im asking for educational purposes can you please explain a lil 😭
Thank you for the great quality content. I must admit after watching your videos at first I was a little skeptical and could not relate on how to apply to my local games.. but my eyes are opening thanks to the ability of your content to be able to connect.
ps is it possible to lose the 70's porn star moustache please?
Down bad bounce back boy I’m different
No ones talking about the persons RING at 5:37!?!?!??!?
12:26 dude just flat calls QQ on the CO oooof
DO IT
What happened at 28:30
I probably would call with KJ o on river jam
So the hand at 4:05 where you had a combo draw and you checked than got called twice and got looked up. It got me thinking. I know you say chk raise oop w combo draws, and he might've folded...but he many people will put you on a flush draw which is why I chk raise a set for ex only mostly on drawy boards. He looked you up because he figured you wouldn't chk top pair on a wet board so he looked you up on the turn and river w 2nd pr. I guess maybe the worse the player maybe the less you should chk raise w draws because there's no fold equity? Just a thought. Not sure what you think on it.
You fell victim to your favorite line in poker XC/X/B in the QJ hand 😂
Put the chips out further for all those backscratcher dealers.😅
YEAH what's the deal with that grabbing arm thing?😂 Isn't the point of the inner ellipse on the table? Put the chips within the ellipse so the dealer can reach them
ok fine
It seems like Marc keeps getting in spots where he value owns himself/is surprised when somebody tank calls and he chops. So many try hard nit types in my 2/5game nowadays. Just bluff such villains to death and don't go for thin value against them I've learned.
omg ty ty
omg welcome back
Kings vs queens you don't shove pre get an extra 150 on flop and turn then say you like how you played it? Bet allin preflop and get it all imo
Marc...the ring worn by the player on your left...what is that?
Nice troll 😂😂
So what did buddy have?! Did he have a 6?!
5:40 just noticed the guy to your left is wearing a nazi symbol ring. It looks backwards, but still.
Sicko mode!
It's funny you don't even need to be balanced.
Of course not. You've never seen these guys before and you will never see them again. Would take at least 100 hours playing with someone to tell if they are balanced or not.
