Good Tips! I'd only seen those large heavy hoops, so the ones you're using look like something I could handle. This is the first year I'm actually trying to grow something in the fall/winter. I'm now listed in Zone 7a instead of the 6b/7a 'border'. When I was at Lowe's getting mums the other day, I saw they still had a few veggies out and bought some Romaine Lettuce and Broccoli, so will see how they do. I'm betting I'll eat the lettuce before the end of next month. The Collard Greens I'd planted some time ago still look good so hopefully that'll make it as well. Now that it's cooler, below 80, my Cherry Tomatoes have exploded and I'm harvesting at least a good size handful every day. I'll dig my Sweet Potatoes up next weekend. How are yours doing? Since I'm in the last area of Hurricane Helene's cone, which is the heavy rain and flooding area, I'll have to see how my garden survives this weekend. Hehe - did your 'magic wand' get rid of the squirrel?

Two years ago, I had a very nasty experience with yellow jackets who made a nest in my garden. All I had to do was walk by and they'd attack me. Even the man who mowed my yard got attacked when he tried to mow near there. In Walmart's garden center I found a Trap-N-Kill trap for yellow jackets, wasps & hornets. It's by Enoz. It definitely took care of my yellow jacket problem. Sorry I forgot to tell you about this earlier.

I've never made a tincture before. Thanks for showing me how to do it. I'm gathering from the expression on your face that the ones you took didn't taste very good. (Hehe - maybe mix it with OJ or V-8 juice?) I've just let my herb tea seep for several hours instead of 20 minutes or so and called that good enough. Wisdom from 'days gone by' used to be the best there was, mainly because they worked. Personally, I think we need more 'days gone by' remedies.

It looks like you'll have a lot to harvest. Your corn stalks look great! Good for you! We're still in the 90s with humidity in the 80+%. The famous 'They' keep promising rain and a cool down. I keep hoping. I'm planning on sowing Kale seeds next week and hopefully will get a nice crop of it this fall. Our fall is supposed to be a warm one so not sure how long of a season I'll have this year but think it'll be longer than the 'normal' one. Love my cherry tomatoes! I put more in the freezer today. It looks like my Sweet Potatoes will also be a bumper crop this year. I cut some of their leaves to use instead of spinach today - YUM! Right now, gardening in one day at a time.

Thank you for sharing this information! Also, a lot of the plants we call 'WEEDS' are beneficial to us in many ways and are yummy as foods. Plantain and Stinging Nettles are the ones that I usually think about first. Plantain used to be called the soldier's plant because it helped stopped the bleeding from battle wounds. It was also used by doctors in Europe during WWI and WWII. Stinging Nettles makes a really yummy tea and also a soup, especially when mixed with onions, potatoes and carrots. Thankfully my mints and several herbs have enjoyed our hot weather and have exploded in my garden. Yes, they have a lot of nutritional benefits. I'll mix and match several of them and make iced teas and drink them all day during the summer. I'll dry them for hot teas in the winter. In the past, the people didn't have a pharmacy on every corner, so they went to nature for their healing needs. Unfortunately, we've lost a lot of that knowledge and just take a pill of some sort with a long list of side effects. Everything we really need for our wellbeing is here with us - we just have to look for it and be willing to learn.

Thank you for a wonderful comprehensive video on medicinal herbs and medical disclosure!! I always check first! Chamomile, lavender, sage, spearmint, lemon grass, rosemary, calendula, ginger, tons of lily of the valley and oregano! These are all in my garden!

Hi Cheryl, is this yr correct name? This is my 3td video of yrs I had 2 watch 2 c if you've done the same as me. So sorry about all yr furbabies but even more yr child. I can't even imagine. I have no children. One very early miscarriage but I wasn't even sure. We too have all our pets buried on our property. Under a century old Pine tree up on a bank over looking a brook that runs through our property but with my last and most precious cat I didn't want her farther away from my gardens because she hung out with me all the time. She wld come 2 see me and then go off and do her thing so I wanted 2 visit her and talk 2 her more and had my husband dig a hole 2 the side of a path way in one of her fav areas. I took found a cat with wings. And have placed heart shape rocks I find when beach combing around the statue! I love that lady one reading a book 2 the child!

Love that you have so many herbs in yr deck! I have 2 go down a flight of stairs 2 get 2 my herbs. I do the same thing with straw and freezer bags 4 my dried herbs or whatever I freeze. Love yr csr. Congrats again on your 1000 Subs! Your garden is looking good - much better than mine. However, this morning I harvested my first Okra! We're starting another heat wave with temps in the mid 90s and humidity in the mid to high 80s. This is supposed to last for at least another 10 days. I did enjoy our temps when they were in the mid 80s for those few days. I'll start some seeds in a week or so for my fall garden. Hopefully it'll be cooler then. My first frost date is the end of October, so I have plenty of time for cool season crops.

I went through my seed packets last week to see what I wanted to plant for the fall. Hopefully it'll be cooler then. Since we're still in the 90s+ heat dome situation, it's a question of what I want to try to grow that I'll really use. Even the poor hummingbirds are starting to look for cooler places. Thankfully my mints and most of my herbs are surviving, and I have basil galore. My cherry tomatoes are starting to flower so all of these things are good. From the looks of the vines, I'll also have a good sweet potato crop. Yes, peas, lettuce etc are gone but I did get to harvest some peas last month and I cut a few of them up in my salad. Your garden is looking good and I'm hoping it's cooler there. Enjoy!

Great information! You'll have to do another video when you harvest. I'm growing corn for the first time this year. Its a variety also from Botanical Interests, "Buttergold". Im in northern CT. This one is only 63 days! P.S. I like the music😂

While the colflower grows must cut off the lower leaves for the nutrients to go to the flower and not to the old leaves.

Very interesting information! Hopefully you have a good harvest. You really have a variety of things growing in your garden. I've never grown corn. Last year my daughter bought corn from a local farmer, and we worked together to can it. Will probably do the same this year.

I love Our Stony Acres! I took some of the courses! Your garden is blooming so nicely! I have to cover everything also! I do it with mesh baskets, cloches from the $1.25 store and sometimes insect covering! You have them protected very well! Take care!

I’m north of you- zone 6b- I just started corn May17 for the first time, so far so good!

I just ran over a nest with my mower I was devastated. 2 got injured. One I think is missing a leg but he ran in its nest with the others so I'll have to check on him later. The other one ran further away from the nest. I thought he was missing a leg too. I went back to him to put him back to its nest with the others and found out he was ok, no missing legs thank God, just his ears got nipped a little. There's 6 in total. Praying that they'll be ok

I have been diagnosed with adhesive capsulitis, aka, frozen shoulder. The worst movement for me right now is pushing anything with my arm. So this tool would exacerbate my condition. I am, however, glad this works for you.

How long do you leave them in your car?

I chop my basil in my food processor with olive oil and put it in ice cube tray. After they are frozen I wrap each one in Saran wrap and freeze in a ziplock bag. Absolutely hands down the best way to do basil.

Nice strategy. Very useful tips! I have found keeping my seeds alphabetically in a plastic bin with dividers. I think I would have a small cracker box cut down to fit in a compartment to put my empty packets in. Happy gardening!🦋😎

Love the car method! I used to put bathtubs in there to dry..it's country but works lol. I presently use the other 2 methos...or put I a mesh bag to dry...problem is I forget to label..so I go by smell when I forget...
