Sauber, Formula 1 pioneers
#Sauber is a name we don’t often hear around the paddock anymore, and it’s a real shame. Many new #F1 fans probably don’t know this, but behind the red and white façade of the Alfa Romeo team lies a name that’s been around the grid since 1992, and that outlasts every other apart from Williams, Ferrari and McLaren. With the recent announcement that they’re going to become Audi in 2026 and that Andreas Seidl is taking over as CEO effective immediately, we’re going to take a look at what a rollercoaster it has been for the only Swiss F1 outfit who managed to come back from the bottom many times, and has had super important names like Mercedes, Red Bull, Alfa Romeo, BMW and now Audi by its side. Here’s the story of the Sauber F1 team.

How Aston Martin Became a Force to Be Reckoned With in 2022
Переглядів 787Рік тому
If you’ve been following the channel for a while you know how critical I’ve been of Aston Martin for the past few years. When they first announced they were taking over Racing Point, everyone was saying they could challenge for the title, and I called their bluff. When their 2022 car was announced I was quick to say that, while the paint looked amazing, the car underneath was certainly lacking ...

The redeeming tale of Kevin Magnussen

The subject of this video is a driver that, in my opinion, has had one of the most impressive turnarounds when it comes to attitude towards #F1 and racing altogether, and this driver is #kevinmagnussen . This approach can be seen as a consequence of his career path. He went from being one of the most aggressive and cut throat drivers, to the one we’re all cheering for because he’s just a sweet ...

Not at all , Ronny is overrated. Without the thief of Honda motors from Frank Williams, Prost and Senna, and supermotors from Mercedes is medium at best. Even his partners sacked him at the end, because he was dead wood. When I hear Ron Dennis I only hear spygate, he is an overrated cheater no more.

How flat can you be to have a video criticizing a man like Ron Dennis. Maybe you can justify by being too young and as such, is more concerned about clicks than accuracy. But Ron Dennis came from the bottom of the ladder in motorsports, and transformed McLaren, from an almost bankrupt team fighting in the mid-field after the glorious years of Emerson and Hunt and Teddy Meyer, into a super power team that now expands and is represented in so many other ventures outside a race track. And his demise? I bet he is barely concerned about this current life. Respect the legacy he created, because if it was not for him and his Project 4, McLaren would nit even be around today

I want to tell you something that would make this sport huge and that’s the size of the car. The people I met that have seen the cars including myself were shocked out how little they were. Size matters! Matter of fact the size of the car matters even more than speed. Making them a visual spectacle is so important and everything to a lot of people. What I mean is I want to see these cars double the size. Instead of being the size of a big go cart make them the size of a 77’ Lincoln continental. It would be so impressive to walk up and see one of these cars. Yes they would be 20-30mph slower but at this point you would be surprised at how many people don’t care including the fans. I think if they made these cars very large and they were all a legal size it would just be a much better race. The top speed really is not what the racing is all about to the fans it’s about dicing it up and fighting for the lead whether the speed is 150 or 250. It just doesn’t matter to anyone. They went in the wrong direction to get the cars to handle at these speeds so going to this larger size would be a challenge but it would have its advantages such as safety being one of them and more room to add special features on the car. I know I will never see this but when I see a car I want it to be larger than life

Scarbs called it in November 2013 when he released sketches of what the 2014 cars would look like and as usual he was right. When I read that Scarbs article in November 2013 combined with the new engine regs I checked out of Formula 1 interest and swore off watching the season two months before it started. The only thing that brought me back to watching F1 in 2014 was when Mercedes revealed their dickless W05 that actually became quite beautiful by the end of that year. …That and watching Red Bull get f**ked.

Wasn't Sauber in 2004 essentially a blue Ferrari? In the early-2000s BMW easily had the strongest (but not the most reliable) engine, so they felt the relatively weak Williams chassis was letting them down. Therefore they were hoping Sauber was a better option, but in the end they didn't even get to enjoy the success they had with Williams. They were making progress, though. As early as 2006 they had a car that was able to challenge the leaders occasionally (fuel-corrected Heidfeld would be on pole in Italy, but his race was then a disaster). 2008 was their breakthrough year, although they were still some tenths off the leaders' pace. This makes it more understandable why BMW decided to focus on the 2009 car. They were wrong, though, for two reasons. First, in 2008 both Hamilton and Massa messed up a lot, so even with a slightly slower car Kubica would have had a genuine chance of winning the title. Second, the 2009 rule changes were massive and would likely stir up the order. BMW undoubtedly thought that they would be one of the winners as they had been focusing on the 2009 car early, but their bulky design was very unimpressive. Having missed the double-diffuser trick didn't help of course, but so did Red Bull and they were still competitive. It's sad that BMW decided to immediately throw the towel.
