    04:00. There is a -1/+0.5 mm for the bottom magnet to move up or down. For example, you can press is down without the feeler gauge as a spacer, which will make it 0.2mm deeper.

    This is extrememly impressive but I can't help but notice the huge redundancy in haveing numerous complex tool heads. I built a Voron 2.4 and from personal experience I would not enjoy servicing multiple toolheads like that. Why this way and not with a standard automated filament swap?

    • @vinny5915
      @vinny5915 16 днів тому

      It is for multi-material printing. For printing dissimilar materials contamination is a big problem, even more so than multi-colours. Thus, more purging (i.e. waste) is needed for a single nozzle systems.

      It is a 0.2mm feeler gauge touching some 2.54 mm Dupont pins. The actuation force (i.e. the sensitivity) is from and selectable by a pair of magnets.

      Teaching tech's channel has been working on adapting the stealth changer tool system for SV08. The difference is that the tool dock stays up top and the gantry goes up to change tools, so tool changing is potentially slower, but you don't need the extra moving parts for the moving dock that this system requires.

    I just recently came across the whole Stealth/Tap/Miss Changer systems... and i am really really liking the approach here, with being able to be a single toolhead if i want. Brings me to a few questions... #1 I noticed your umbilical having a connection at the rear of the printer which seems to indicate you can just unplug and remove the whole toolhead when wanting single tool operation. How are you working around the MCUs complaining and error-ing out when no connection is found? (is it USB or CAN?) #2 following up on #1, i am now learning more about the USB approach on the toolheads (even tho i am using CAN & TAP on my current Stealthburner). If i were to add more toolheads, i would use the NiteHawk SB USB boards for T1, T2.... and leave T0 alone as is... Any concerns with that with any of your hardware mods? #3 about how much Y you loose? I have the 350mm Voron and there toolhead fully covers the 350mmx350mm area, so this will obviously eat some of the Y for the hardware Thanks

    • @vinny5915
      @vinny5915 Місяць тому

      #1. I made a add-on for klipper to swap in and out the the relevant lines in printer.cfg, and an macro to that and restart klipper to apply. #2. None at all. I have finished testing hardware comparability with 2x NiteHawk SB USB and it works fine. the challenge for USB tool-head will be: cost, and basement space. #3. if you are going with the NiteHawk SB USB boards. the docked toolheads will block the front 120 mm (Y) of your build area.

    • @vinny5915
      @vinny5915 Місяць тому

      The most tangible benefit is the fact that MissChanger can easily be adapted to work on a Trident. Beyond that, it is not much of an advantage but rather a deliberate tradeoff. MissChanger trades the speed headroom for a more reliable first layer. I will say, though. Stealthchanger is reaching a critical mass in terms of adoption. So, it will be easier to get support with it. And, they support more toolheads.

    I print PETG and ABS on my 2.4 by only decreasing bed/nozzle temp by 10-20C. No other changes. No issues with PETG with chamber temps. I used to think like you did and had exhaust vent air but it does not matter.

    • @vinny5915

      PETG is the in-between kind of filament. It is printable between 30C and 40C chamber temp, depending on the brand. But, PLA is a no-go at that temperature range

    If I understand correctly, your trap door mod replaces the stock removable air duct and exhaust slider with something that's a little faster and easier to use? Do you find that in exhaust mode, it provides sufficient cooling to the chamber to print PLA without removing panels?

    • @vinny5915

    What is the thickness of the top panel you installed? The PCBWay is listed as 3mm. Is it acrylic as well or PC? Does it feel solid or sag any? You may want to cannibalize the nevermore micro and use the ellis bed fan mod. I did the same as you for a few weeks after installing a stealthmax (back panel though; I have a second top-mount printed that I haven't installed). The ellis bed fan setup circulates noticeably better. So well, in fact, you have to have a custom ramp-up time based on bed temp so you don't warp your bed.

    • @vinny5915
      @vinny5915 2 місяці тому

      The top panel is 3mm acrylic. I am using a modded flow chamber design for the NMSM, which bolted it in place with 7 M3 bolts. Thus, the NMSM actually adds to the structural integrity of the panel instead of causing any noticeable sagging.

    • @vinny5915
      @vinny5915 3 місяці тому

      Performance-wise, if those are the criteria that you are looking for then just go for SC. It is a very cool project. I would in fact recommend it over MC, due to the fact there is a team behind instead of a single person. MC (as a project) is more focus on reliability. It retains the Voron-Tap MGN9H rail for probe accuracy. This is a design trade-off, worse IS but better first layer reliability. And, from my experience with multi-material so far, it is too early to try going faster regardless of whatever system you are on. MC is also designed around the workflow of upgrading an existing printer, using parts printed on that same printer, with rooms for errors and chances to reverse course if needed. Even after completion, you can still switch back to a single toolhead setup in less than a minute and without any tool.
