Why not just get the hd kit and solder a connector onto the mb? I know it's a delicate solder job but you could have a terabyte drive inside! True, the bios or other factors might jam it up, that's the chance you take. I do love your M2 work around, very 🧁 sweet!

@@Gregory-xr5wn Honestly the low cost, lower quality of HP Streams a non solder job is easy and less risk. I say that as I plan on getting a Stream 11's RAM chips swapped so it will have 8GB RAM then doing SSD addition. Bigger pins less chance of a mess up.

What is the exact make and model of the card and how many fans?

The only thing you can try is take the memory stick out and reseat it. If you never did that before, just push the clips to the left and right of the memory clip away from the stick and the memory stick will fold out. Clean the gold contracts on the bottom of the memory stick and then put back in at a 45 degree angle and snap back down into the clips. Always good to match up with what your taking off, some revisions of the same card use slightly different pads, heatsinks etc. This is why we recommend a variety pack. On the one we are working on in this video, if you look in the description of the video all the info is there for you. "Go with 2mm for VRM (Near Display Connectors) and 1mm for memory chips around GPU (Can even use .5mm)"

Take the bottom of the laptop off and lay the laptop on its side and turn it on, launch something graphical (Game, Screen Saver, etc.) see of the fan closes to the edge of laptop / memory stick spins at all (or is making noise and wobbly etc.)

@@computerspecialist8533 hi, thanks for the reply, yes i was talking in Celsius, i took of the bottom cover and saw that one of the fans actually had a bit of friction (it took some time to reach the max speed when i put it to max settings on nitro sense). Compared to the other fan which seemed pretty functional it was taking a long time to start and when the laptop shutdown it immediately stopped. But can just one fan be the reason for so much heat?

@@SherlockHomeless2485 absolutely! That is your problem and I would recommend replacing both fans since you have to take off heat sink anyway!

On this model the VRAM chips are fine with just being cooled by the fan! Its also kind of hard to get a heatsink on them even if you wanted to!

Yes it will run fine on the model! Standard DDR3 (JEDEC JESD79-3F) requires a supply voltage of 1.5V. DDR3L (JEDEC JESD79-3-1A. 01) requires a supply voltage of 1.35V. Also if it only has one stick or ram in it and has an empty slot, I would try and locate the exact stick that you currently have on ebay / amazon so they match! Double it up with an exact speed match!

@@justapotato6653 you would need a reflow (hot air station). Apply heat and the chip will remove. Not an easy job but there are videos out there to help you remove chips like this.

Yeah most our customers want the screen protector on when they pickup to see its new 😂. So in my dealings when they come from china they are "knock-offs" but some are pretty descent. Sometimes its hard to get a genuine one also! You will be able to tell by the picture quality! If bad return it!

I fixed it. For those who might face with the problem same as me: I was not taking out the thermal heat, I was intending only to change the fan. So when I inserted the fan it hit a very thin wire that goes to power button. it is exactly on top of the fan. But most probably you cannot see it because it is exactly under the heat sink. So be brave and take out the heat sink. also open the power button pins. and examine it. see if really the wire is out of the power pin. if that is the case you can easily insert in again. if the problem is more sever you can order new one. In my case it was the fact that the wire was simple out of the pin. So I inserted again. and reassembled eveything and it worked just fine.

@@saadterkawi5576 above the fan, under the heatsink, there is small board like 8 cm * 2 cm. it has 3 or 4 small screws. If you problem is the power pin. open the screws and examine it. there should be a plastic/wire connector connected to this board. make sure it is connected, and the board itself is healthy. Hope it helps! (have a look at 9:22 of the video)
