Cannot agree more about the boot covers! They’re life changing. I even had the big bulky o.g. version years ago. lol. I don’t like carrying these either but compared to the original model trust me they are super packable. Fwiw tho remember that keeping ur body core warm is the ultimate key to warm feet, not the other way around. I’ve found that a fleece neck gaiter, a good layering system and those boot covers are the perfect combo. Sat 11 hours in a stand last week with temp rang 20F to 30F all day. My toes were toasty!! Agree also on sizing…bigger is better than smaller. Good vid!
When it comes to hunting and cold weather I've come to learn i dont care if I look stupid or ugly as long as im comfortable in the stand then im in the game. Thanks for the tip!
You are on the right track! I hunted NE Michigan (freaking cold) and a long sit in a treestand can be brutal. I use the Crispi Wild Rock GTX+ (800 Gram) or early in the colder season the Alpha Burly 800 with Artic Sheild Covers and using the Darn Tough brand "Hunter" heavy sock with a Terramar thin wool liner (Amazon). The set up works great. Changed my life man LOL
I live and Hunt in Ontario Canada cold = Deer hunting up north .Been using the Artic Shields for years and they really 100 % work.Hothands in it even better
I have used this same method for about 6 years. It helps if you tuck the hot hands in the laces at the toes then slide the boot into the arctic shields.
I have used hot Mocs (basically same thing) for years, they still surprise me every time I use them at how well the work, never thought to use the super warmers, I will definitely be doing that, thanks
I agree with what you're saying here. I wear a size 15EEEE boot. I have hell finding boots to fit my feet. Good leather boots is a no go. Can't find any. If I do find some my size, depending on the manufacturer, some of them are small. The boot covers you're talking about go up to a size 15. I'd almost bet my LaCrosse Alpha Burlies won't fit in them. And sizing up, 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂! That's funny!
Yes they are. I have two pair of the heavy ones and use them on my two week rut hunt in Missouri. I take them off and air them out after each hunt. They don’t stink what’s so ever.
Use antiperspirant spray on your feet and you will not sweat. Leather boots with boot covers and hand warmer inserted in the boot covers. Put one under your boots and one on toe of your boots in the boot covers and you will be to go.
Try wearing alpaca wool socks, without a liner. The best, and warmest boots are muck style, with removable inserts (wool-felt). Make sure that your boots are not too tight around your feet. I’ve hunted in -20 F all day without getting cold feet.
I have the artic shields too & they are great , I use the toe warmers in mine main boots & you can walk with them on but better to put on in the stand or blind . & a tip trick i use is the toe warmers in my flip top gloves , stick them to the inside bottom of where your fingers are ! Works great , they do swell up & you have to squeeze them because they'll get too hot & the heat times shrink , instead of 5 hrs their like 3 ! But it's nice cause you can still flip open the gloves & because they stick they don't fall out like the regular hand warmers ! Wish they made thumb warmers sticky pads like the toes , your thumbs get cold too , I have to tuck them in the FlipTop to keep them warm ! It helps when your hanging onto your gun or crossbow & can have that sit in your hands without making your hands cold ! My weapon never leaves my hand unless I really have sumthing to do & you don't wanna drop your weapon . The whole sticky body warmers are nice but the heated vest is the way to go , just get a bigger battery pack that can charge a cell phone 4 times , their heavy but won't drain if you do an all day sit , you can turn vest on & off to save batteries , bad part is they take over 12 hrs to charge ! Try the tips they work !!
I have the Cabelas ones, the only problem I have with them is they are so bulky, if you can stand carrying them in and out it is worth it because they are the only thing that has ever kept my feet warm since I have been hunting which has been a long time .
Absolute game changer. I use the hot hands toe warmers that are triangular with a sticky side. I put them on the toe of my boot then slide them in the artic shield and I'm golden. Sucks carrying them, but i flatten them and use a bungee cord around my pack to strap them down.
What temps are you experiencing? 40* and your feet are cold. If you can’t wiggle your toes in your boots, you’re doomed already. You need circulation. Stupid question, but What do you wear ice fishing? I hope you find a good all around solution.
I take my boots off and use these with some heated socks and some slippers I know it sounds funny but I have circulation issues and this really does work
You "southern boys" never experienced sitting up a tree in Northern Minnesota Muzzle Loader season at -20 below zero! That is a challenge...must keep your toes moving!
I have the older model A little thicker I carry them to stand Put a set of felt snowmobile liners inside them. One hand warmer wool socks. Take boots off. Put you feet inside Warm all day. Manatoba Maine New Brunswick
Awesome honest opinion ! I agree 100000000% If your toes are cold you can’t focus or enjoy hunting Absolutely the hardest thing to keep warm I don’t care if it looks stupid 😂 I’d wear them if they were pink also 😂
My feet are always cold. I aslo have tries 1000 gram muck boots and my danner 1000 gram hunting boots they dont work. These work. I love these. I hunt western sometimes below zero. They run smaller then they say so get the next size up. Mine wont fit over my danner hunting boots so i chnage into smaller uninsulated hiking boots in stand then put these on. My fet stay warm. I only wish they would make the bottom rubber as the ones i have make noise when moving fet on stand. Side note about hand warmers. I had my mom make me a scarf out of camo felt type material with 3 pokets added 2 on sides of neck and one in rear. I put large hand warmers in there its amazing. All that blood flowing through neck gets warm and head and torso stay warm.
Good video, I need to get me some better socks! I am probably gonna need them with this snow coming in! I finally found a giant on a brand new permission property I got, he is a perfect 8 and huge body, I'm guessing him on the 50 mark maybe better! He has long beams and every tine is tall, bad thing is I don't know much at all about this farm and don't know how the deer really use it. I just got him on camera the 14th and I had him 3 out of the last 5 days now hitting a scrape and eating corn! I got footage of him licking a doe and guarding her, I probably just missed him breeding her! He locked down 1 day and came back at 730 Saturday night after I sat all day on the fringes of the farm. He pushed 4 does off the pile and they all disappeared for the night! I'm hoping he's a home body and not a traveler cause he the biggest buck is ever got on camera frame wise!
Well i've used the arctic shield for years, i wear lighter boots and leave them in my pack, when i get in my stand i put um on and they are great, you can even shove a warmer in them, also have coats n pants from them
2 pair of wool socks...is the trick to keeping feet warm, dry, and blister free. A thin wool sock...covered with a thicker wool sock. 2 pair...is all you have to do. The Army experimented with this...waaaaaay back in WW1 and WW2. All you need...is 2 pair. All Wool. One thin wool sock, covered by one thick wool sock. Problem solved.
Silk socks under a medium weight sock and a boot thats a size bigger to give room for blood circulation. Ive bowhunted several hours in single digits and my feet stay just fine. If your boots are tight , don't lace the very bottom laces above your toes to make room for circulation. Also once your too your stand, just untie and loosen your boot laces to keep that blood flowing through your feet.
The key is to have room inside your boot to allow you to "wiggle" your toes. This is more important than everything said in this Format! Keep moving for blood flow! Period!!!
Yeah they should work, and you just gotta do the same thing with TV eh and warmers throw em on top, also switch out your socks u came in with some nice thick merino wool and you should be good

I use arctic shields too- I put some Stealth Strips on the bottom so it doesn’t make a lot of noise on my tree stand platform

That's genius as my only complaint is how noisy they are on steel ladder stand.

I just purchased Hollow alpaca sox. Still have 2 weeks of deer bow season and big cold front coming! will see
Think I’m about to order some to see if they’re are good as their adds say.

I DID buy them 20 years ago. Best ever!
I always hang my packs upside down at night to dry them out. Works for me.
Loosen the laces on your boots. I use these and only wear hiking boots. Toss in a hand warmer or USB rechargiable hand warmer.
Tuck the corner of the hand warmer in your laces to keep over your toes.
Do these work with the muck boots?
I’m not 100% sure. I just don’t know if they make some big enough to fit over mucks since they are so bulky
Yeah they should work, and you just gotta do the same thing with TV eh and warmers throw em on top, also switch out your socks u came in with some nice thick merino wool and you should be good
I have a pair of them that I took out a couple of times but didn’t get to use them cause my feet didn’t get cold.
Just wear merino wool or alpaca wool socks. Cotton socks suck.
buy good winter boots big enough so you can wear 2 pairs of good wool socks. dry out every night when you come in.
Hothands toe warmers bottom of your socks. 2 layers socks . Medium otter wool sock in 1000gram boots. Thicker if colder weather
Why are rubber boots a death sentence in the mountains? I wear mucks and I hunt in the mountains.
Bc we sweat in them
I hunt mountains too and wear Muck boots. Zero issues. His boots sure do look good for a year old. Not sure how many days a year he hunts.
If Im hunting the mountain areas I wear a boot with more ankle support. I wear mucks when I'm hunting swampy and muddy bottoms.
Everyone feet are different
Rubber is a cold attractant!!! Some people just never figure things out on their own! Rubber is for wading in the water!!!
Walk in with crocs feet won’t sweat and then carry boots on backpack and put them on at the stand
Thanks!
Get away from all that rubber or plastic boots. I hunt using Salewa hikers with alpaca socks.
