Diablosport Trinity T2 Custom 93 Octane Tune from Hemifever - PCM Swap and tuning on 2017 RAM Sport
Just finished installing the custom 93 octane performance tune along with the transmission tune from @hemifevertuning
Loaded it all and monitoring it from the @DiabloSportInc Trinity 2 tuning device.
I chose to go the route of purchasing a new PCM to install so I could keep my original as a backup in case of emergencies. Overall things went well, but ran into a few issues when installing that I cover in the video. But it was all worth it in the end, the 93 performance tune turned my 2017 RAM Sport 5.7 Hemi into a completely different vehicle. It's not a light truck by any means, and now it will get up and go. So happy with the results, only problem now will be getting traction! Be sure to subscribe to the channel for more videos like this and other projects we are working on. Thanks for watching!

    Those engines are bulletproof, low compression from factory so your number are perfect. Check that the carb bowls did not warp they are plastic and notorious for warping, if they are sand them on glass with fine paper to flush. Don’t listen to anyone who says get rid of the VRO and premix if it has a VRO2 system on it when they fail they over oil, if the VRO is bad then consider it cause an OEM one runs $600+. Common fuel leaks are at the fuel enrichment Schrader valve (choke) when you press in the key. There is a cone screen fuel filter in theVST you can clean it and replace but make sure collar is not cracked, make sure VST top is not warped as well. Plastic fuel components on these did not play nice with ethanol fuel so avoid it if possible.

      Wow, thanks for all those great things to watch for and check. I'm cleaning and testing the oil injection system now. Going to try to get it started in the next video with that and a portable premixed tank to see if it's going to run. Then start tracing backwards to the existing tank and lines to see what needs to be replaced. Most of it is probably dry rotted too, since it hasn't been used in forever. Thanks again for the tips and watching!!

      @@RaymondLamb no worries dude, for the oil system purge it as much as you can with the primer bulb, run aux premix tank till can confirm oil consumption. Don’t squeeze the oil primer once hooked to the VRO it can tear the diaphragm on VRO. Dying to hear it started probably one of my favorite outboards ever made. For sure the best Johnson ever made lol.

      Hey, I do have a Diablo tuner installed, actually finishing up a video on it right now, should have it up in the next few days. I believe we set the fan to come on at either 187 or 192, but I think it was 187. If you've seen my other videos, I did the 180 thermostat replacement and remove the active grille shutters. With these mods and the tuner, it rarely ever goes over 185 on the temp. It's all been working perfectly. Thanks for watching!

      I see your point, and it would be nice for someone to make a custom kit that uses both sides and makes them functional. Thanks for the informative video. I couldn't remember what size the bolts were for the thermostat housing but I did remember that they need to be torque to 9 foot pounds when I heard you say got them tightened down real good that's scared me because you're going into aluminum. Hopefully you talked them to 9 foot pounds kind of just go back-and-forth a bit, snug snug and 9 ft/lbs that way you don't distort the thermostat housing. as far as the V6 fan you installed. It's not necessary. The electric fan that was already there which is on the smaller side, but perfectly adequate to move enough air even in traffic. You can remove the entire shutter assembly is what I did and then it allows for more air, but reconnect your shutter motor and find a piece of steel so you could make it into a bracket to bolt the shutter actuator to it. by placing a screw at the top and at the bottom, this will limit the amount of movement the shutter actuator can actually move, so as do not throw a fault code. Otherwise it will think it's not there and throw a fit with a check engine light. Not only will get better airflow, but shave off about 10 pounds from the front end, which is quite a bit considering how heavy the front end of a ram truck is. I removed my spare tire as well that saved a lot of weight. I'm gonna be taking off my front tow hooks and my trailer hitch. I think that'll be about 200 pounds I'll be saving altogether with those four items removed. Oh plus my front clutch fan just like you did. if you have any issues with cooling after removing the V6 fan if you do so, it might be due to not having the full fan shroud assembled? You may have had it off for the thermostat R&R as well? I just need to either figure out a way to cheat so my electric fan will come on at 180 F or I'll have to bite the bullet, and buy a tuner. Another cost saving trick or hack if you will is that I noticed a lot of the aftermarket cold air intakes aren't a lot different than the original one except for the fact that the side of the airbox is cut out so you could pretty much cut the bottom portion or some of the bottom portion of your airbox out as long as it's below the air filter to allow more air from the right side of your wheel wheel to come into the airbox, rather than it be so much more restricted. By cutting out the bottom portion of your airbox, he will look pretty much like the AFE or rough country version because they state that if you're in a really dusty or dirty climate to block off the rear portion of the cold air intake. When I looked at my own airbox, I thought to myself why hasn't anybody put out a video on this yet on how to modify their OEM airbox to make it more of a TRU cold air intake because it would be taking air from a lower height than the restrictive inlet. Keep on MODDIN

      Thanks for watching and all that info. I made sure not to crank down on them too hard. I got a custom tune video I'm working on now and it tweaked the fan settings as well. That with the AGS delete, electric fan and the 180 thermostat, has been a game changer. While driving, it rarely ever goes over 185 on the coolant. Sitting in traffic it might get around 190 before the fan kicks on for a minute or so and drags it right back down. Very happy with the outcome so far. Thanks again!

    The green ceramic coil is a resistor for a voltage drop for the two speed fan option. 3 terminals ,one is ground, one is straight 12 pass through (full speed), other is 12v through coil( slow speed) . Most people will only use high speed ,but two speed is an option.

    Hey Raymond, fantastic video for me. Very helpful. Based on your guidance I pulled the trigger on buying this Mishimoto transmission cooler for my 2022 GT, even though Mishimoto says it won't fit (CJ Pony parts DOES indicate fitment through 2023). Anyway, everything was going according to plan when I hit the interference between the transmission cooler lines and the A/C line that you talked about. I saw in the comments from a couple of years ago that you never bothered with trying to have the A/C line re-routed or anything so as to properly get the condensor tab to fit into the slot on the radiator. Have you still had no issues? Has your A/C kept working alright for the last couple of years, lol? I'm going to sleep on it a bit before buttoning the car back up and taking my chances as you did, but I thought I would ask if you have any more wisdom to share now a couple more years down the road. Like you, my transmission keeps getting too hot on track, and I'm getting tired of cutting sessions short, etc. Had to try something.

    • @RaymondLamb
      @RaymondLamb Місяць тому

      Hey, thanks for watching! I actually sold the car a little while back and looking for another project. But after the install, I did drive it quite a bit and tracked it several more times and there was never any issues for me. The way it is wedged in there, I wasn't too concerned about there being an issue, and me personally, I never had one. The cooler did help on the track, but on days that were extremely hot (90+) it was still hard to keep it cool. The problem that I saw and researched is that the thermostat in the transmission doesn't open until it's already so hot, that's it's hard for it to bring it back down quickly. But overall, I still thought it was worth it and helped. Good luck with yours!!

On mine, with the factory style projectors, all four bulbs are 9005, and here is a link to those. www.amazon.com/SEALIGHT-9005-Installation-Adaptability-Non-polarity/dp/B0CM9CZ9HK/?th=1 If you have the normal style lights, the highbeams are a different number. Thanks for watching.

    Are the middle lights functional or accent lights only?

    • @RaymondLamb
      @RaymondLamb Місяць тому

      They are definitely functional, I tested them to see how bright they are. Like a concentrated foglight beam. Maybe about as bright as the low beam led lights but in a tighter pattern. Hope that helps.

      You could, you might have to adjust it slightly to fit the holes in the chrome grille the way you want it, but I think it would work. Thanks for watching.

      I agree, but they think very highly of them with that price tag lol. If I had the standard lights I'd definitely do it, but since I have the projectors, I'll probably stick with them. Thanks for watching, good luck with yours.

    The stock sport wheels are around 33 to 34 pounds, cast 22s are probably 40 plus lbs, one reason I ended up not getting them, I was looking at those exact wheels

      Thanks for the info. I still like the look of them, but man are they heavy compared to what came off. If something happens to them or I need to replace, I'm going to look for something more lightweight for sure!

    Could you have installed the trans cooler under the car & did you have any issues with the rubber lines with the hose clamps popping off the transmission lines do to the high pressure of the transmission fluid

    • @RaymondLamb
      @RaymondLamb Місяць тому

      Hey, do you mean accessing it and installing from the bottom side under the car, or am I misunderstanding? If so, I don't see how you could, not saying you absolutely can't, just that I think it would be very difficult. The way it's bolted to the radiator and everything slides in from the top, I don't think they would be a way to do it from the bottom side. I tracked the car multiple times after this upgrade and never had a problem at all with the lines, leaks, etc. everything held up great. Hope that helped.

      @@RaymondLamb Mounting the trans cooler on the underside of the car like near the rear bumper

    • @RaymondLamb
      @RaymondLamb Місяць тому

      I'm with you now! I suppose anything is possible, but I think you'd have a hard time getting it mounted at the right angle back there or underneath somewhere, in order to keep enough air flowing through it to keep things cool. Then you'd have to worry about rerunning the lines too. I had the GT500 front bumper and had thought about moving it to the air intakes in the corners, but never did because this worked out well. Good luck with whatever you decide!

      Yes and No, they do say in the instructions that if you aren't happy with the beam pattern you may want to adjust the housing to align just like what you suggested. I think if I did change anything it would only be for the high beam, since the low beam is in the round projector style housing, I don't think it would matter honestly. I've been 100% happy with the coverage and output, so in my particular case, I'm going to leave as is. Someone else might not be happy with it though. Thanks for watching and the tip!

    Great vid. Just ordered these since troubleshooting points to these leaking. No water or dampness around brake light, i.e., surrounding headliner area. Noticed water in the storage compartments under the back seats after some pretty heavy rain (Florida). Also right under the vent (both sides). New vents around $9.00 plus shipping. Truck is a 2015 Ram 1500

    I used an Allen wrench. Put short end in pulley, long end to tensioner. I then used a large channel locks pliers to turn fan nut. Worked great. There are two zip ties on that wiring. Look in that vertical grey support. Remove them and there’s enough slack.
