am i the only one who really prefers the first wave to the second wave? i don't mind it, but it sucks how much it's overshadowed the sheer creativity of the first wave when it's kind of just atmospheric indie rock

This video is much better! But you again avoided the influence of BRIAN ENO. Not only in their 1974 albums, but also in 1976 producing Ultravox's first album, probably the closest thing to the first post-punk band. In fact, it's very sad that you haven't mentioned it in any video, since Brian Eno was also IMPORTANT to NO WAVE, he was the one who produced the album NO NEW YORK.

Elvis Costello is not close to American new wave, there is no such thing. New wave is a British thing, this video is very biased on your part. Elvis Costello was part of the ENGLISH PUB ROCK scene, bands like blondie were discovered in England, devo was discovered and promoted by Bowie and Brian Eno. Brian Eno is the real father of new wave, he not only produced Ultravox, Devo or Talking Heads, he also anticipated all the styles on albums from 1973-74. He also worked with Bowie on the influential Berlin Trilogy albums. The British new wave had many exponents in 1977. Ultravox, Stranglers, Costello, Nick Lowe, Ian Dury, Boomtown Rats, XTC, Squeeze, Japan, etc... in the United States that year they had Blondie, who was discovered in England and talking heads, which was led by a Scotsman... It is not for nothing that Americans like Stewart Copeland, Lene Lovich or Chrissie Hynde lived in England. I'm sorry, but you should see the chronological order of all this. What you mention is not correct.

I agree with VeeVee being the best album overall. I think “Harnessed in Slums” is in the top three along with “Nevermind The Enemy” and “Underdogs of Nipomo” on that album. “Fabricoh” for number 4!

Hello from Brazil! Do you know if the underground rock / counter-culture scene in china is anti-communist? Because it would be a bummer if that was the case, imo. So much of the western counter culture is communist and or anarchist. I'd expect people from socialist countries to have proper sociology and politics education.
