I experienced Hawaii Part II in a strange way that, given I never saw anyone else mention it (mind you, my research and sources don’t exist beyond some memes, comments, fanart and this video) would probably make its community chuckle. Fair enough, as you’ll see. Let me back up, because my introduction to this beautiful album wound up being none other than Meffols’ newest animated meme. Yes, a meme. Except this one didn’t even have anything to do with the theorised story. It was Meffols talking to an avocado and using the line “you look quite divine tonight.” Just like you, I couldn’t not take to his video’s description to find the source of the song. That’s what’s important to note and probably why I got so confused. My introduction to the album was its finale. Dream Sweet in Sea Major became my initial experience with Hawaii Part II. Where this gets funny is how I perceived it. Bare in mind my starting point, how I had no prior context of the album or even its order (for all I knew at the time, Dream Sweet in Sea Major was the opening), how starved I was for context surround Miracle Musical and the community that followed them (listening on a UA-cam official music video meant no comments below to point things out). Simply me, the music, the writing and the album cover. And cutting to the chase, those three things gave me vibes. So I’m gonna start listing off everything it reminded me of to see how you’ll react. Straight off the bat, the music brought me back to FallOut and between that and the both the writing and cover putting notable emphasis on the sea, it also made me think about Subnautica. So my mind went straight to ‘this must be a post-apocalyptic and flooded environment. We’re following a survivor in an endless body of water who’s slowly losing his mind. Then, and this is where my mind starts stretching it, but between the set of razor teeth on the cover and the title itself, something ticked me off. Something about how the teeth are faded and slightly hidden. How the text is fully capitalised and the band’s name is in rainbow text. How the whole cover seems to be a cross of darkness and chaos. How it’s being cinematic in a sense. It all just added up in my mind. And it reminded me of… Well, a few things. Stuff like Jurassic Park/World, Godzilla and Pacific Rim. Crazy right? The way Miracle Musical portrayed the cover made me feel as though I was supposed to be scared yet simultaneously hyped. Like a thriller. A thriller about giant creatures lurking underwater. I mean, to paint the picture even more clearly in my mind, one of the lines is “You look quite divine tonight, here among these vibrant lights. Pure delights surround us as we sail. Signed, yours truly, the whale.” My brain translated it to “There is a whale lurking beneath me beyond my known capabilities to do anything about. It thinks I look divine around vibrant lights and surrounded by pure delights. That’s a romantic way of saying ‘there are a ton of fish around, but you exposed under the moonlight seem like an easy meal in comparison.’” I understand these thoughts can sound far fetched, but remember, there’s a set of teeth on Hawaii: Part II’s cover. At the end of day, in my eyes at the time, it didn’t matter if there was actually a whale threatening to eat the protagonist on a sailboat. What mattered was the picture. And that picture had been painted as a post-apocalyptic world stranded at sea. Add in all which accompanies that. So as interesting as I suppose it might be, there’s my first interpretation of Hawaii: Part II before I got more context.

I feel like steanded lullaby, even in absence if the rest of the album, is so important to hear at least once. It demands an emotion that many will never feal anytime else in their lives, and having such a powerful feeling of loss and acceptance is so special.

Always thought as the album as a young man setting off for hawaii, finding love, love gets killed in the woods, is framed, sent to electric shock therapy, escapes the mental ward, steals a boat and bleeds out on an island as his dead lover sings with him in his final moments.

This is what I was looking for, but what about Hawaii Part ii part ii?

Fun Fact! When you die, your brain plays your best memories for 7 minutes. Dream Sweet In Sea Major is exactly seven minutes long. This means that the final song is the death of Simon, and his best memory is sailing to Hawaii. It even reuses lyrics from Introduction to the Snow. It was also posted when the end of the world was supposed to happen. Now that I think of it, that wasn’t really that fun of a fact.

One thing to notice as well, when you are out of earshot of any other players, the game starts playing certain ambient sounds it wouldn’t otherwise play

The devil, or “Lucifer” AKA Lightbringer, is the bringer of light, so the bright light could be a reference to the devil/hell

Imagine living in the middle of nowhere, its june 2020, the world has shut down, and you are alone for several hours and you've just discovered Hawaii part 2: it will be the only album you will get to know in great detail for the next few months. That was my experience with this album. It was almost a psychedelic experience
