Reacting To Terrible Reviews Of Longlegs
I love the creativity with the prosthetics and fake blood Efx the sculptures and molds the story the characters the art of Horror really speaks to me I've always loved the holiday of Halloween itself I love the costumes and creativity and just the fact of getting to be what you wanna be and not be judged for it
The vilifying of that which a person doesn't understand or enjoy is something many genre fans experience, however for me it taught me early on to respect and tolerate that which is not to my taste be it movies, music, gender, religion or even political ideas. Personally I can't stand the Terifier movies but I wouldn't criticise anyone for appreciating that franchise.
It's not like they actually killed a kid, it's just a movie and the child actor is alive and well so I'm good with it! People get too sensitive on the Internet
I’m not a fan of Resurrection, but this sequel probably would’ve fixed the mistakes from it, John teaming up with Brackett sounds cool and Michael Myers in a snow setting also sounds cool, I always thought John deserved more than one film.
It’s watching to face your fears directly over and over, until you overcome it and it’s no big deal anymore
It was awesome to hear your also Christian as a fellow Christian at times it's hard to explain to people my love for the horror movies and listing to someone such as you who can describe why we enjoy them was pretty cool to hear
It’s a touchy subject but I’m a Christian as well. When people question my faith cuz of the movies I watch I just tell them well have you read the Bible? Cuz the stories in that are just as disturbing if not more disturbing than the movies I watch. And I follow that up with posing a question, so it’s okay to read about it but watching it is where the line is drawn? It’s always a battle but all in all I believe you can be a person of faith and personality with the movies we watch. One doesn’t dismiss the other in my opinion.
The thing I love about Horror movies as an adult is how powerful they can be when enough talent is involved. Suddenly you're unsure if you should turn off the lights, or you're worried about having a nightmare. You kind of revert to being a kid again.
Fun topic!! I can see like- minded individuals havimg this conversation around a camp or bon fire. Perfect topic!
This might be one of my favorite videos Nick has done actually. It’s a great discussion and topic. And I agree I can picture this conversation at a bon fire too.
Horror movies are just an escape from the horrors of reality. Religion, covid, politics, race riots, domestic terrorism, gender pronouns, widespread lockdowns, political correctness, cancel culture....these things are fucking frightening.
i guess it's just an escape from reality for me, particularly anxiety and depression. my dad let me watch horror movies from a young age on, like the original Terminator, the Alien and Predator movies and Child's Play. to date i've collected most horror movies i've ever enjoyed and my mom doesn't understand why i love horror so much lol
I agree about horror acting as an escape.
The worst was having a girlfriend that watched investigation discovery murder shows all day but wouldn't watch horror movies with me
Murder shows are entertaining and interesting but doesn’t take long before it becomes depressing. With horror movies it makes it fun. With it being fake it’s also just more enjoyable to watch.
@@JohnKramerRules agreed. It bummed me out a lot

Hey 👋 Nick🩷💋👼🏻
I love horror simply because it’s my escape. I can dive into a horror movie and it seems as if all my problems go away. And oddly it helps me deal with death as you Nick. Death is incomprehensible for me and when I face a death it doesn’t bother me as much.
i liked this video. horror movies dont scare me. my imagination and reality does that. but can say that I like watching horror movies to vent through them. enjoy seeing the imagination. for the stimulation and thrill.
Primarily it’s nostalgia for me. From the scary music, the late nights watching scary movies on tv, to the horror monsters/villains that became part of my dna. After that (good horror) is like a roller coaster ride 🎢.
This is so wise self-aware. Love it!
SAW III - “Will you forgive the one responsible for killing your son in a drunk driving accident or will you indulge in your obsession to exact your revenge?” I hope to never experience that but it does make me wonder how I would handle that situation. We see Jeff and I understand why he is so hesitant and unwilling but comes to his senses at the same time. I also ask myself what would I do in that situation. Could I cut my own eye to get a key that will save my life? Could I face my fears? Spiral From the Book of SAW - the marionette trap. Symbolic of a pig (cop) thinking they are in control pulling the strings, pulling the trigger. A roller coaster ride of thrills. John Kramer/Jigsaw having a philosophy that is so interesting you could almost fall into a state of psychosis, Amanda Young sure did. SAW III - “Death is a surprise party, unless of course you are already dead on the inside.” The list goes on and on but we love horror for a multitude of reasons and no other film genre quite taps into these reasons. That’s why we love horror so much it gives us what nothing else offers. Also, side note but horror has so much movie memorabilia. For us collectors out there it’s great for that alone. Not too many movie genres have stuff like that. Only a few action movies have merchandise. Super hero’s and Star Wars stuff of that nature typically have merchandise but I don’t see any collectibles for a comedy or a romantic comedy so horror is also great for that aspect as well. I love collecting horror memorabilia.
Wow nick I have that anxiety also. Fear of death and health anxiety. Nightmare when it comes on strong.
Me too! Horror gets me out of my head and lets me process that anxious energy in a different way. Some people just don’t get it.
Dude I think about this every time I watch DGG Halloween trilogy or Scream for the countless time. All the blood and gore. I dont think some of these horror flicks are meant to be comfort food for the soul... lol
I’ve loved horror movies since I was 5. I think back then it was because I liked the thrill and being scared. I thought it was fun. As an adult I still love it for that reason, but I do find myself taking mental notes as a just in case situation and what would I do or how I’d handle it. I also feel as though it’s the best genre of movies to get that escape from reality.
Love this video. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Just picked up Halloween 78 on VHS The other Day🎃❤
I love horror movies being closed of the frills the scares the jump scares the murders to kill scenes the murder scenes the jump scares and the and the killers and to give us a very good scare and it's very Thrillering
Luv the vids keep going
Nick's the Best🐐🤟💯
Even oculus is underrated i loved it i had that movie for awhile
Even insidious chapter 3 is underrated
out of all the movies you mentioned I have seen doctor sleep. my favorite part of that movie to be honest was the ending. it brought you back to the shining. the music.
I mean Art has canonically already killed two children so not sure why people are shocked
No issues with the movie, but gore for gore's sake feels hollow for me. When the whole point is to watch the gore, then you lost the plot. Even Hellraiser had a story of which the gore was an integral part of.
Compelling argument 👏
Okay No Not at Star Wars Kills off a Room Full of younglings !!! Not called children! An people are okay with that! So cry me a F’ing river! Can’t wait to see this movie in the theaters!
Before watching the end I’m betting you picked Flannigon. I’m going withFlanagan. Both Wong and Flanagan are big in the genre and both will stand the test of time. But Mike Flannigon wins out by a few inches. He’s style, approach, the characters and his love of classics and not tarnishing them. Doctor Sleep is still a no go for me though. Midnight Mass impressed.
Halloween 5 is a fight for worst in the franchise. Halloween 6 is one step above that only because the mask looked pretty great, but the movie was equally dumb.
Short answer. God no.
I still wanted wan to direct a Texas chainsaw massacre movie.
Between those two I’d definetely say Flanagan mainly because of doctor sleep, that movie was a masterpiece. Overall tho my favorite is probably Robert Eggers
I haven't seen many of his films but if you like fun cheesy action definitely check out Fast 7. Using Pauls brother for some scenes he hadn't been able to film was a great idea and while it's not my favourite it's in 3rd place as Fast X & Fast 5 beat it. Great video, saw you on Ken & Ashleys channel 😊👍🐾💜👋
watch hereditary
The reviews from the premiere say it happens but they cut away from actually showing the kid's death.
Flanagan 💯 Dr Sleep, Haunting, Midnight Mass & Fall of The house of Usher all superb. Hush & Geralds Game were excellent also.
@@judgedoomentertainmentnetwork yup!
James Wan no competition here
@@astrojuicy1 Big competition
I've never been a big fan of the Conjuring films. Well shot, but imo recycled horror and the biggest sin is they made cult icons out of the Warren's, two people who are legitimate pieces of shit in real life. Flannagan I think is the master of the Netflix series horror, and Oculus and Doctor Sleep and HUSH are rock solid. Then again I loved Malignant. So I'm going to have to call a tie. I do weep knowing Flannagan turned down doing a new Halloween movie before DGG and Blumhouse got ahold of it.
@@capitalcitygoofball1987 Yeah, that would’ve been insane. But I really need him to do ANOES!
I gravitate more towards James Wan. Flanagan just doesn’t do it for me. Doctor Sleep was great but outside of that he’s never a director I look at as one of the greats. James Wan delivers a ton of bangers. And of course he birthed SAW. SAW is the only horror franchise that does it for me. I love everything about it. Just that alone puts James Wan on top for me cuz SAW is the franchise I like the absolute most out of all other franchises. Also not horror related but Furious 7 Wan handled that situation insanely well. That movie is I think top 5 of most successful movies of all time. He landed that plane so well and I love the ending of that film a lot. But even Death Sentence I adore that film as well. James Wan is more my style and speed. To me it’s not even a contest nothing against Flanagan but I just think James Wan is far more superior. That’s just my opinion of course.
@@JohnKramerRules Totally respect your opinion! If you haven’t yet, check out Midnight Mass. I maintain it is the greatest thing Flanagan has ever done
I love Hush and Doctor Sleep but I'm sticking with James Wan here. Even with his non-horror stuff like Death Sentence, like there's so many horror things about that movie that it's almost a horror film. The guy is a master of horror even outside horror. Not only that but Saw is my favorite film of all time
@@RedbullSW fair enough. I think the argument can be made for either
TWIST: It's Ari Aster.
Aster bros lfg
@@TonyB2279 He’s not even in the conversation yet. Gotta have more than two horror films to be even considered with the heavyweights
@@TheLostRiverDriveIn Nah. Those two films (or The VVitch, The Lighthouse and The Northman by Robert Eggers, or The Blackcoat's Daughter and Longlegs by Oz Perkins) outstrip anything Flanagan, or especially James Wan, has done hand over fist. Granted, I haven't seen Midnight Mass, but I've found most of what I HAVE seen from Flanagan to be solid at best, nothing that's gonna go on a list of the all-time greats. My favorite from him is actually Oculus, which ironically seems to be the film his stans love least. Wan I just -- totally don't get. Conjuring I and II are fine, Malignant was okay. Maybe in terms of cultural impact (for spawning the ConjurVerse and re-igniting the recent paranormal renaissance), but I find the quality of his films to be somewhere between solid and middling.
@TonyB2279 You can’t say that until you’ve seen Midnight Mass, which most regard as the best thing Flanagan has ever done. Hereditary was great, Midsommar was not. Hes got a ways to go in my opinion, but, that’s just me
@@TheLostRiverDriveIn Even better than the vaunted House on haunted Hill???
James Wan for me mainly because I’ve seen one Mike Flanagan film, Hush. All of James Wan horror films I either enjoy or love
@@tparkerevans7165 Holy hell you need to rectify that
My personal favorite is Ti West but I think I agree with you on the strength of Dr Sleep
I'm still a bit disappointed with MaXXXine. Guy has a solid resume though.
@@Robx-gx8zy Ti West is getting very close, I agree
I'll go with Flanagan to make not just a good but equally quality sequel to the shining is masterful
@@seansheridan5056 This is the way
Wan or the other wan
Flanagan is definitely the superior master. James is great in his own right, but he plays it very safe. His stuff is primarily Halloween house horror - lots of weird looking characters and traditional scares. It's good, but very familiar. Flanagan backs up his horror with genuinely great stories and themes, so you can come back and still get something out of it beyond the horror, and that's the mark of a master in my opinion. Midnight Mass and Hill House are works of art, even outside the genre.
@@Zombie_Trooper BINGO. This right here
