    I read 1984 in college, and it changed the way I look at things. It's very insightful. The ending also had me in tears when I first read it. I love it so much, so it's a top read for me as well, and I'm actually due for a reread. And I agree with your thoughts concerning the Mark Twain collection. You have to overlook the language and consider the time period and setting that it was written in. I think some readers tend to miss that part because they're so used to the language and ideology of the present time, so maturity is definitely needed when reading stories like that. If anything, I like when stories reflect real life, past or present. That makes everything so much more believable, which is what great fiction is all about, making you believe that this could have happened in real life. Love these tier ranking videos! It's great to see all of your different tastes. Very eclectic! 💫

    I am currently slogging my way through the 9th book of WoT. WoT is giving me major whiplash. The books are filled with infuriating main characters not doing too much with epic events sprinkled in. Lord of Choas has been the highlight for me, and since then, it has gotten so slow with the most frustrating characters as the main povs for the majority of the last 2 books. Then, when I want to throw the book out of the window into the river, something truly epic happens that catches my interest once again. I feel my thoughts on the series are a rollercoaster as well. I think if this series was edited to take out most of the boring parts that are not necessary to the story, then this series would be more unanimously loved by people who picked it up. The characters might be more likable as well. For me, I still think the series is worth it, but I also understand if you don't want to continue.

      Oh, thank you, Misa! ❤️ I was so lucky to get this apartment and it's actually the reason why I still live in this city 😂 But Jane Eyre - what a perfect book a rainy autumn weekend it would be! I am quite sorry I didn't keep it for then, but I know for sure I shall reread it, so whenever I do, it will be in autumn! 🍂🍁 (Also, so excited for fall!!!!) It was over the top but also, strangely level headed - Jane was so pragmatic, outwardly self-possessed, and so resolute! I liked her so much! Yeah, I still have hope for The Shadow Rising. More than half the book remains and those usually pick up at some point. Fingers crossed 🤞

      Ah, I know. Tough to account for taste 😅 I do think the books is really good though, maybe not for everyone, hard to write a book like that. I just can't say one bad thing about it (besides that it's so damn depressing 😂) But I can see why you didn't like it and it's totally valid. As I said, hard to be objective 😊

    Perfect spots for Legends in Exile and Emma! 🌟 I don't know if someone has already suggested this (and I would be surprised if no one has), but have you thought about doing a video ranking all of the Harry Potter or A Song of Ice and Fire books? It would be nice to hear your thoughts, since you love those two series so much. But only if you wanted to, though. No pressure! I could never really get into The Hunger Games trilogy, surprisingly. I only enjoyed the first book, and I always thought it would be better as a standalone rather than as a series. Is that crazy of me? 🤔 I've also been meaning to read The Call of the Wild. It's been on my TBR for yearsss, even though it's such a short book, and I could finish it in no time, but I have yet to pick it up! The struggles of a reader, I swear...😅

    Jack London books. I read those when I was in middle school (around age 14) and fell in love! When I was a kid, I would read all sorts of books about animals and adventures like that one. I need a re read soon

    You might not think Hobbs sticks the landing until you read Ship of Magic!! Liveship is better than Farseer. The Shadow Rising is when WOT really takes off! Out of the 14 books, it is one of the best!

    • @libraryunbounded
      @libraryunbounded 6 днів тому

      I'm really looking forward to it, honestly. I've heard so many great things about the second trilogy - it's half the reason I am looking forward to finishing the Farseer Trilogy 😂 I started it (The Shadow Rising) a few days ago and still in the early stages - 200 pages in or so. To be honest, all this romance is really getting on my nerves! 😅 If it was entirely gone and we could just get on with the end of time and all that, I'd really appreciate it 😂 But our crew is finally about to split up and do things, so I'm hopeful!

So many I've read and had the same feelings. I didn't get to Beach Read this summer, as I don't read much romance, but I'm going to squeeze it into my August tbr now, before summer is over! Thanks for sharing your ranking!

    Sorry for the late comment. I watched this video 2 weeks ago on my TV and meant to log into my computer to let you know I really enjoyed your Q&A video's. Thanks for answering my question, I loved your answer. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is one of my favorite books! Book 8 verse 57 is my favorite. I love how he compares the universal mind with the constant non-exhaustible radiation of the sun, and that it will settle on the obstacle it meets and illuminate what receives it, and that anything unreflective will deprive itself of that light. I read that and went like WOW. But I annotated the hell out of that whole book. I actually might reread it soon, so thanks for the inspiration!

    I see some of my favorites too on this list. The Hunger Games trilogy is one of my favorite series of all time (with Catching Fire being my favorite out of the three), The Lunar Chronicles is great too, but I prefer Cress and Winter over Cinder and Scarlet (and that is true for both the books and the characters). Currently reading the Throne of Glass series and i'm really enjoying it.

    Once again I've read quite a few of these! I got to see Neil deGrasse Tyson give a live 3 hour lecture when he was promoting Astrophysics for People in a Hurry! I paid 165 dollars to sit in the second row and was close enough to touch him almost the whole time (but didn't obviously lol). Interestingly Fool Moon is my least fav dresden files book (I've read the first 15 three times and 16 and 17 once), Changes would be my best. If you like boring history books about a fake place check out the Grace of Kings by Ken Liu (I gave it 1☆ but sounds like you'd enjoy it). I've read the first 19 Reacher books,, Persuader is my fav. Shadow of the Gods is my fav John Gwynne, can't wait for Fury of the Gods. Also read Blood Maridian

    Talking about the best of the best books is such a treat! And I love your tiers, how you use the quotes 💘 my favorite quote (I think of this one the most because it is basically applicable to every day of my life 😅) is by young Dumbledore: "The fact that everything didn't go precisely to plan was precisely the plan" which could be actually considered as a description for my most beloved books too 😊 Fun facts: Anne of Green Gables 👒had been my favorite child book before I read Harry Potter series, plus my mom also considered HP 5* even after reading it for the first time in adulthood 😄 Thank you so much for sharing! I'm looking forward to the second part 😉
