What I eat in a week 🫕 🥗 | Simple & healthy Japanese dinner idea | Living in Canada 🇨🇦
Hello everyone, it's Yasuko. 😊
It's getting pretty cold now that we're in December. How are you all doing?
I bought a big daikon this week, so I made hamburger steak with grated daikon sauce. The combination of the juicy hamburger steak and the refreshing grated daikon was amazing ✨
I also tried making omuhayashi for the first time, and it was easy and very delicious. It's become one of my favorite dishes. 😋
It's getting colder, so please stay warm. I hope you have a great week. 🥰

I was just about to cook Hamburg Steak today 😂 helpful recipe! ❤
Thank you so much 🥰
Yum! We have value village in Alaska too! It’s nice to find 2nd hand stuff for little ones that grow out of clothing so fast!
Oh that's great! Sometimes it feels like we are just renting stuff from there as when he grows out of it or a toy he no longer plays with it likely ends up back there 🤣
I always look forward to your videos! thank you so much for sharing your days and recipes ☺
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoy my videos 😊
We are also Canadian and love to go thrifting! Do you have a store called Once Upon a Child on the east coast? Fantastic thrifting for children's clothes and shoes, with additional seasonal sales. Highly recommend!
Oh I never heard of that one before but it looks like we do! A little bit of drive from where we are but next time we are in the area I'll have to check it out! Thanks!! 🥰
You meals are always delicious! It's helping me with lots of recipes and balancing out the meals. Thank you for sharing them.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you find them helpful 🥰
I never put daikon in my hamburger, I’ll give that a try! Thanks, amazing video as always!🥰
Thank you so much 🥰
Hi I love watching your videos Your son is so nice.
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you very much for the video 👏👏👏😮😮😮Yasuko, me faltó Day 5, el próximo video tienes que pagar por un día 6😅😅😅. Saludos y bendiciones 🙏🙏🙏🙏
😂😂😂 Thanks for your comment and for watching!
Hi Yasuko! Thank you for another video ✨ I loved seeing your shopping trip, we also love second hand shopping! Personally I am addicted to finding deals on ebay 😂 I enjoyed this week’s menu! I am inspired to make the omu-hayashi dish, it looked so simple and tasty! I can’t believe it is almost the end of the year, I hope you and your family can enjoy the winter season! Take care 🤗
My husband loves finding good deals on eBay too! I made Omu-Hayashi first time, and it was very easy & delicious ✨ Hope you'll like it! It's true, I can't believe 2024 is almost over 😳 Hope you & your family stay warm and have a great week 🥰
As always, love your recipes and videos! Keep up the good work/inspiration!
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you enjoy my videos 🥰
Don't worry Yosuko about little man's not wanting to eat. He is 2, they all go through that. Your son is so very well fed with all the good foods that you cook. He won't starve. He eats better food than most 2 year olds. Thank you for sharing your recipes. They are delicious.
Yes you're right, hopefully he gets better by the time he is 3 😆 It's funny, sometimes when we give him unhealthy food as a treat he doesn't like it probably because he's used to eating healthier! Thank you for your comment and watching!
I love Chinese eggplant. It is so much better. You can eat the skins. I think it even cooks better.
I agree, I love Chinese eggplants as well☺️
I’m so proud of you. You are using a food processor. As you get busy with kids, you have less time for a chop chop chop dice dice dice. Your son is so cute. He’s in the terrible twos . Next is the trying threes. It will get better. Thank you for your delicious recipes !
Yeah it's so much easier and faster to use a food processor. I hope his terrible two finish soon 😂
Hi! I wanted to tell thank you for creating and sharing videos of yours! The recipes aren't too hard to replicate and looks really delicious~ Especially the pumpkin stew you made! I don't really have a favorite pumpkin recipe, my relationship with pumpkins are tough... But, since you shared this recipe I think that things could easily change, because the dish looks gorgeous~ Thank you very much and take care c:❤
Aww I'm so happy to hear that 🥰 Yeah the pumpkin stew is easy to make and delicious, I hope you will like it!
I LOVE watching your videos. They are very calming and so comforting! They just put me in such a good mood!!! I always get so excited when I see that you posted a new video, Thank you so much!!
You are so welcome! I'm very happy you enjoy my video 😊 Thanks for watching 🥰
Thank you for another great video. Your son is absolutely adorable. Did I hear him speaking Japanese? If so, that is wonderful! My mother is originally from Germany and I truly wish she had taught me German as a child. She only spoke English in the house. I learned German as an adult, but it would’ve been great speaking since childhood. Your eggplant dish looked absolutely delicious! I happen to have some eggplant in my fridge so guess what I’m making for dinner tomorrow lol! I hope you’re having a lovely holiday season. Please keep your videos coming!😊
Thanks for your sweet comment 🥰 Yes, he speaks Japanese. He is spending more time with me, so he speaks more Japanese right now. I hope he will learn both English & Japanese 😊. That's a shame you didn't speak German when you were a child but good you learned it later in life, it must have been harder! I hope you enjoy the eggplant! Have a great week ☺️
That looks good I'm gonna try the ground beef with eggplant cause I do like eggplant fried lol
Thank you! I hope you like it 🥰
Thank you for the video👏👏👏👏
You're welcome 🥰
Hi Yasuko! Thank you for another great video, I am so inspired since my grocery shop was very similar to yours this week and I have to use up pumpkin and mushroom 😅 I will try and make a vegetarian version of menchi katsu, every time I see you make it I think to myself it looks so delicious! Mapo eggplant also looks delicious, I tried with TVP before instead of ground beef and it works perfectly. I hope you and your family keep warm and healthy, it’s already snowing here so I assume it will come to Nova Scotia soon! Take care 🤗
Oh it's interesting we have similar grocery shopping! I guess we have similar taste 😊 Vegetarian version of Menchi Katsu sounds good! I can mix any vegetables in it, so it's a nice dish for my son who's picky! Since this week, it's getting colder. Yeah sure we'll have snow soon! Hope you & your family stay warm and have a great week! 🥰
I’m so surprised groceries are just a bit more expensive than in US! I’m glad I found your channel.
Thanks for watching! 🥰
Yay! My Sunday dose of your baby!!
Thank you 😆
❤❤❤❤❤
The stew looks so good!!
Thank you 🥰
Yay! So yummy!
Thank you 😋
Hi Yasuko-san, do you mind sharing the miso brand you use. I am in canada,if I directly diluted the miso paste like that without sieving it, it will have texture like small grainy.
Hello, thank you for your comment 😊 I'm using Hanamaruki miso. It's not a special brand, I usually buy it from local supermarkets. It's pretty smooth, so I don't see grain much when I make miso soup. I hope that'll help!
@@whatsfordinner_japanesethank you for your kind reply. I will find the same brand. Hello from Vancouver canada
Awwww he is so cute I hope he gets in a better mood soon 😅
Thank you 🥰 I hope so too 🤣
I would be really interesed in the homemade miso's recipe! 😊
your recipes are my favorite! they are so easy to follow and always look great. I can't wait to try some of the ones in this video. thank you so very much for sharing!!
Thank you so much! Glad you like them 🥰
Absolutely delicious food. I loved the look of the hamburgers with tofu
Thank you 🥰 It was good!
The meals look amazing and you’re son is so cute :)
Thank you very much 🥰
Thank you very much for the video👏👏👏
You're welcome 😊 Thanks for watching 🥰
❤
Oh that pumpkin stew looks amazing- so warming for a cold night! Will definitely give that a try, thanks!
Thank you very much! Hope you enjoy it 🥰
Yet another delightful video❤. Thanks dear.
You're welcome! Thanks for your comment 🥰
New subscriber the hamburger steak with mushrooms looks yummy gonna have to try it the chicken and cabbage yummy I grew up on cabbage ground beef with onion in a pie shell and fried eggplant and fried zucchini
Thanks for the comment and the subscribing!
Love your videos! Please tell me which dashi you use. Thank you😊
Thank you 🥰 I use Shimaya dashi. Also sometimes buy Hon dashi.
Love your recipes. Just FYI, that's not Butternut squash, that's Japanese Kabocha :)
You're right! It wasn't Butternut squash, it was actually Buttercup squash. But I call it Kabocha as well. Thanks for let me know 😊
Hi Yasuko! Thank you for another video 😊 By the way, I made your pumpkin korokke recipe and it was delicious!! I will definitely make it again since we still have pumpkin in the freezer and I will try the recipes from this week as well! Your friend’s miso looks incredible. Did it age for a long time? It must have such a better taste than store-bought miso! I will also try the cabbage dish, I am always looking for more cabbage recipe since it takes a long time to use up, haha! Thanks so much again and hope you have a great week 🤗
I'm glad you liked pumpkin korokke! It is one of my favourite pumpkin recipes 😊 Pumpkin stew was really good too. I need to make both again! Yes, homemade miso was really delicious. My friend said all you have to do is mix the ingredients together and leave it for 6 months. So easy! I thought I'd give it a try too 😙 Thank you for your comments. Your comments always encourage me 🥰 I hope you have a wonderful week!
What a dilemma: pumpkin stew looks wonderful, but karaage chicken is such a comfort food; oh, and also hamburgers with tofu must be really good! What to make first?😅
My husband would definitely choose karaage but yes it's a difficult choice 😆. Thanks for watching and your comment!
I've been craving mushrooms and this only made it worse lol! My boyfriend doesn't like them so I'll have to sneak them in sometime.
Yes! If you chop it finely he might not even notice 😆
I had this in Nagoya detention center. Except the potatoes were more mashed. I had several meals I wish I knew what they were because I came home after 80 days super healthy lol. Been back 2 weeks and I've been craving a few different things I had.
It’s just a phase dear friend.. he will have to eat sooner or later. What with all the yummy meals you prepare🩷🩷🩷
I hope so too 😂 Thank you for your sweet comment 🥰
Thank you for sharing your meals and recipes with us. You keep me motivated. I recently broke up with my live in boyfriend and had not been cooking for myself. I have gained some weight. I am sure that using your recipes and moving more during my day will be very helpful with some weight loss.
Oh I'm sorry to hear about your break up, I hope you're doing okay! I'm glad my videos keep you motivated though and I believe eating well and keeping active will help a lot. I hope my videos will continue to keep you guided in the right direction! 🥰
This is a real cooking channel that makes me feel warm and cozy on the inside. I'm growing tired of those channels with 1 second cut scenes, showing more the physique of the youtuber than the actual food. Thank you for the amazing videos and recipes.
Thank you very much 😊 Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for another great video❤
You're welcome! Thank you for watching 🥰
Hi friends, the recipe for your homemade dinner is appetizing and special 😊
Thank you so much 😊

Could it be the time change for the little one?
He was ok, thank you 😊
