i have an 85 CUCV with a BBC. drove into the shop yesterday and had this crossmember installed in about 5 hrs and drove it out. its not hard to do except the passenger side mount bolts. at 70+ i don't twist up like i use ta could

Great video. Best to have the front slightly less than the rear since as you drive the road force will spread the leading edge apart. If you check you manufacture spec, it probally recommends some tie in.

Whats the difference between the dodge and gm dana 60 with king pins

I see the steering requires 4.5” backspacing or wheel spacers. I dont have the money for new wheels, what size spacer do I need? The current rims are American Racing Bullet Hole wheels. Ive got 31x10.50R15 tires as well. I was trying to get a new front steering rebuild from TRQ but they let me down 3 times on one transaction. Taking it as a sign to get the CavFab steering lol.

How are the joints holding up? Also, do you wish you had done the frame stiffeners at the same time?

If you make the adjustment on only one side like that your steering wheel will be off center.

Probably a hot take, but I think it would be really cool if you manual swapped the truck with an SM465. Not trying to change your mind on more power but maybe a milder built LS (400 HP/TQ) with the SM465 behind it could be an idea. A milder built LS would likely live longer in the truck. The SM is plenty beefy and cheap to maintain and can be adapted to the LS platform. Won't be good for the highway but neither is 37 inch tires. It has a crawling gear that could be useful for you in off-road situations and the power draw from the SM would be less than the 4L80. Last point is that the SM is not electronically controlled so you won't need to add any extra wiring or modules for it, not to mention no trans cooler required. Possibly just a custom length driveshaft, reverse and speed sensor wiring and that's all you'd need. Love your build so far. I've watched all your videos on it and love seeing how overkill you go with your components. Super tasteful and quality work especially with your suspension setup.

Make sure and check your measurements before putting the tie rod on. There is no adjustment sleeve on the tie rod, which requires complete removal of the tie rod to do a proper alignment. Learned the hard way!

How does this align the front wheels to the rear wheels and make the steering wheel straight?

It would be cool to have an ORD cross member for added frame strength. I am not planning do a LS swap, but the ORD cross member can still be used with a factory original GM Gen/Mark engines. I already have a new GM replacement crate engine in my square body with only 10,000 miles on it. I also have a set of ORD's competition engine mounts. I installed a set of stock style clamshell mounts with the new engine install, and they suck so bad that they died with less than 10,000 miles on them which is why I went with a set of ORD competition mounts.

That wheel alignment tool would need to be in perfect alignment with the body of the vehicle or the suspension If it was slightly up or down it would make the measurement out So is not possible for it to work I was just about to buy this 😱

I've got some strut channel I'm going to mark up to get equal measurements. Paying for some scrap angle iron ain't for me. If that don't work I've got lasers and squares. Measure mark and layout is my middle name. What are the odds of that?
