I've been on all 5 Disney ships. Six DCL cruises in all. We just got off the Magic and we were disappointed with lookout cay compared to castaway cay. We had a back to back scheduled on DCL next September too lookout which we canceled and book RC to Canada and New England on the Brilliance of the Seas. We have done 3 RC cruises in the past. Oasis, Allure and Symphony. DCL seems to be offering very similar ports and destinations over and over again. We decided to go back and forth between DCL and RC and we are Disney people...Disney Vacation Club Members and WDW AP holders. We do have the Treasure and Destiny booked :)

You must have been the only ship in port at Coco Cay there were multiple ships when we were there and it was so dirty and gross.

Thank you! Great info. I am taking my kids and grandkids on a Disney cruise the end of January. We will be flying to Orlando the day before we set sail so we’ll stay in a hotel that night. Do you have any recommendations on hotels with shuttle service from the airport and to the ship?

Disney has too many kids. That’s the only reason I wouldn’t go on one. it’s not a criticism, it’s great for families! Just not wanting to be surrounded by children on my vacation.

The girls' perspective is super interesting! It confirms what i (somebody who has never cruised but loves watching cruise vlogs) already suspected. Royal is best for teens and adults while disney caters the best to children and adults

🛳🚢This was so helpful! We are booked on a head to head trip next year - Disney Wish vs Utopia of the Seas! Those are the competitors doing the 3 nighters out of Port Canaveral, both going to Nassau and then Castaway or Coco Cay. We even booked the same type of stateroom to try to be fair. We are Diamond status on Royal but haven't been on a Disney ship in 20 years, even though we are massive Disney fans. We are excited to compare our experiences as you did, too.

We were really debating the last few weeks to chose another cruiseline or to pay the extra for a Disney cruise again. A part of me wishes y’all would’ve done a couple more Royal cruises before doing an apples to apples comparison. It’s not all that fair to RCC for you to have gone on several Disney and only one Royal. For example I’ve been on 5 Royal cruises so I would totally be more familiar and comfortable than I work on my first Disney cruise. Great family and great content! Just an observation, keep up the great work 😊

I never been on a Disney Cruise, but for someone on the Autism Spectrum, and reading about the Disney Cruises, I believe Royal Caribbean does a better job in accommodating those on the Autism Spectrum. On Royal Caribbean, the Windjammer buffet is open for dinner and as for me, I can get my food in separate bowls and plates and there is no need to dress formally, and you can get a table dining alone (no need to dine with strangers at the same table). On Disney, the buffet is closed on dinner and the main dining room can be intimidating for someone on the Autism Spectrum like me. I would find it very intimidating dining with total strangers at the same table and the dinners are served with the food altogether in one plate. Also, as for me for being on vacation, I would prefer to stay in shorts and Royal Caribbean's Windjammer allows you to do that plus much of the food in the main dining room is on the buffet as well. Plus, the ship I went on, Harmony of the Seas, has a huge adult only area on the pool deck and the Central Park, which for me is usually provides a quiet area on the ship if I get overstimulated. You can actually enjoy reading a Novel in these areas. A Perfect Day at Cococay is wonderful and very accessible, they have complementary tram service on the island and for those who have mobility conditions, they have all terrain wheelchairs one can rent for no extra charge that provide beach access also., One thing I wish is that Royal Caribbean would have cruises there the ship will stay docked at Perfect Day at Cococay overnight and guests can enjoy Two Perfect Days at Cococay. At the Cafe Promenade, which is open 24 hours, they have some delicious chocolate cakes.

I was on the Disney dream as it repositioned in New York City and we went to Canada last October 2023. I just got off the Liberty of the Seas with Royal Caribbean out of New York City and we went to Bermuda. Both ships were great. What stood out for me on Royal Caribbean Was that it was a much more livelier ship. There was so much more to do and so many more options to choose from. The dining room was gorgeous, three levels and the buffet was excellent. On the other hand, Disney is in a league of its own because it’s Disney themed. I loved it. I absolutely am a Disney fanatic. The state rooms on both ships were, in my opinion, great. The split bathroom on Disney was lovely. I was traveling solo this time so it didn’t matter about the split bathroom. The food on both ships in my opinion was great. I like the promenade on Royal Caribbean. They had the Saturday night fever show that was performed above everybody’s head on a stage in the promenade. I found that to be very clever which was so much fun with the promenade filled with the passengers and a lot of audience participation. They also had an ice-skating rink of which I did not use. There was free pizza and ice cream all day and all night. On Disney, I really enjoyed Canada and did a sightseeing excursion. We were in Port only one day. On Royal we were in Bermuda for two days. Both cruises were five day long cruises. What can I say, Bermuda is gorgeous and the beaches are beyond spectacular. For me on this particular vacation hands-down, Royal Caribbean. The people & staff on board Royal, for some reason, we’re so much more friendlier. On RC, there were so many more things to do at night right up until 1 AM . I did the excursions by myself. So much cheaper and very easy. $8.00 to get to the beach of your choice from the ship, and then I hailed a taxi back for $20.00 as opposed to taking the bus for only $4.00 The island is pristine and very safe. If I was on a Caribbean island I would’ve definitely been on an excursion from the ship for safety reasons. If you like a ship that is livelier and had lots more things to do, then Royal Caribbean is for you. They do have lots of things for children . They have 2 waterparks. 1 for young children and the other for teenagers and adults. Do your research and then make your choice. I give both cruise lines A+. As previously mentioned, Royal Caribbean hands-down for this particular sailing. It went above and beyond.

I love Disney. I love that most things on Disney are included. I feel like Mano other cruise lines have more to offer especially for teens, but many of those activities are an extra charge. I feel like it is easy to go on a Disney ship and not pay for any excursions, the spa, the adult dining, or the sweet shop and still never notice or feel like you are having a basic level experience. I feel like on other lines, I would either pay for the upgrades or feel like I was having a downgraded experience. Once you pay for upgrades the price is pretty similar. When it comes to teens especially teen boys who may only be passive Disney fans, Disney drops the ball with teens. The kids clubs are super themed and immersive but the teen and tween club have so little to offer. They could really do more for that age group. I would still choose Disney because of the luxury, shows, and rotational Dining. 🚢

Ive been on Disney Fantasy and RC freedom of the seas-i cant agree on food review. Our food on Freedom was not great whereS Disney was excellent. I do agree about the vibe if the ship. Disney with its lido deck and port holes felt like a cruise. RC felt like a floating resort. I felt The “ship” feel was much more relaxing.

I'm curious about your comparison of the spa. I was on the Icon in February (3rd sailing) and loved the sauna access. Also the spa juice bar was included in the drink package. I'm considering the spa sauna pass on the Wonder. Lastly, I believe the embarkation offerings in Windjammer are only limited to the new ships during their inaugural season. I wish I had known beforehand because we missed out in an attempt to avoid the known Windjammer first day rush. 😢

Coffee must be more expensive on the Wish. We just got off the Wonder, and they were $5-6 depending on type of milk! Disney will always win for us, but I'll try not to hold it against y'all 😅
