Revealing Secrets in my Mini Competition Crawler Build SCX24
People have been asking how I built the mini crawler I competed with in RCMCCA.ORG class 1 this season! It is based on the #scx24 and is more simple than you might have guessed. I have no exotic parts on this truck but in an upcoming video you will see my class 2 is more fancy @jdear148 on instagram (u/j0520d on reddit) designed the chassis.

21:20 >.......... 👏..........👏...........👏..............👏............👏............👏...............👏..............🤘 Move of the Year Award right there!
Super stunning paint!!!!!! Love to see a how-to on how you paint. Really cool build and like the chassis rails. You mentioned "anti-squat". If you haven't, check out www.youtube.com/@BoomslangSuss/videos . He's got some good video's on the topic and other good crawler related technical info. Hitting the sub button! Enjoy the crawling vid's and love to see more in depth rig break-downs. Thanks! Bert
Sehr guter Beitrag, man sieht wie doch ein Komplett Stock schon geht
nice breakdown, i run the same injora 050 and its been great for the couple of years ive had it, and with a hobbywing 1625 and we almost have the same truck with how they are layed out, i plan on cleaning up my wiring soon and doing a build video on it before i start my next build, either an ax24 or maybe a deadbolt. Thanks for the video man, subscribed!
When you post that video I'll take a look!! Yeah these motors are insanely reliable
ua-cam.com/video/uVjPdwLzw-4/v-deo.htmlsi=2Ek2XNyzgvqSyyxV Nice to see someone running an SCX24 in the same location! SCX24 is very rare here in Busan. 😂😂
What’s TicToks and real?
Love the truck!! thoughts on 57m Swamp King m/t
It's a good tire with really aggressive lugs! I think the compound is not soft enough for rocks, but they are good at clearing out dirt and mud when driving, I have them on my MB24
I just wish they had put a CVD in the front axle. Probably would have only cost them a few dollars. A 27 degree steering angle is rough anymore.
Yeah cvd's are much stronger too once you start modifying.
I love the look of your chopped gladiator in the background. It kind of looks like a Scout.
I may do a video about it soon! It was a project my good friend started and then I bought it from him!
You just said something let a lot of people might not catch you learned how to drive it really good I think that's one of the biggest problems as we change too much stuff before we learn how to drive it really good
Yes! Getting familiar with your own build is really important!
No way I love a deadbolt front end it is pretty expensive to build your own but I definitely bought everything to do it
Deadbolt front end is the best!!
10:00 Best mod for any rig any size. 👍 all good info.
Yeah the first time I installed that mod I couldn't believe how much better it felt!
I'm going to get that once they make their way over here (maybe six months from now😅😭😂) Just going to paint the red accessories because they look cheap af , change the servo and i think that's about it because I'm going to keep it as a trailer truck , it looks too good to be killing it on the rocks
I've already put a big scratch on mine on the hood haha
The waifu on the bonnet gave you the edge to win first place 😂😂 If you want to fix the body use dry wall mesh tape and E6000 or shoe goo The only thing i would have done differently was changing the rear lower links for brass ones and added the brass knuckles, that's a really nice build on a nice budget too , half of my trucks are also running that Emax/injora combo
You're the first person to figure out it's true secret hahag otherwise, it's a truly simple build. Yeah I got some drywall tape waiting to be used
Oh yeah I think it would drive even better with brass knuckles as well
Really cool build! A shining example of knowing what to modify on your rig and why. I learned a lot and woulda never thought of only running the brass links in the front!
Oh yeah! The brass front felt like a wasteful purchase at the time but it ended up making a big difference in this stock skid build.
I really like that frame design, really want one of those lol
Absolutely! You will be able to buy one in December hopefully!
Thanks for the deep dive with the Class 1 Champ!
Thank you ! I can't wait to try new tricks to build another one
So Casey take a fabric style bandaid and just use the sticky part ( cut multiple pieces if necessary for coverage) . Lay it over the crack on the inside of your body then put a little super glue on it and add a sprinkle of baking powder. Crack gone never break there again
Oooooo I like that idea! The baking soda with a band aid, I will try it
What does the baking powder do?
Awesome truck! I’m still amazed your first chassis made it through the season! Once again, great win this summer series. It was a great time filming and developing my upcoming chassis from watching your driving!
It will be immortalized I'm my home museam and will stay like that forever haha. I have extra chassis rail in case it ever breaks but I will build a new one for next year
Like your mom 😂😂
Hehe I I sometimes forget the jokes but I remember that one haha
I wish my local hobby shop had something for the micros. Tacoma Washington suucckkkss! Absolutely nothing out here.
We had to start showing up for a year straight to this shop for them to start supporting micros. It was a huge effort but we built a good communitry!
@ Right but your hobby shop probably atleast had a 1/10 course already setup. My hobby shop here doesn’t have annnyytthing for any type of crawling! Iv asked before and they don’t seem to be interested at all. Which really sucks. I’d love to comp Iv never comped before but I’d love too
Nice dude!
Thank you!!
Let's freaking go bro you took first place in all three classes
Thank you! It was a surprise to put together such a solid day. The vibes were not as good the week leading up to that tournament haha
Great job man!
Thank you! It was so much fun. Would've been fun if you were there to compete too
These are awesome! It is great to listen in on the engineering that goes into these and see what they are capable of. I also just love see others dive into their passions and really go for it, even if it's just a hobby at the end of the day. Congrats on the wins! It's also good to see what you've been up to! Hope everyone's doing well!
Yes! I've always had some sort of engineering mindset and it's fun to put that thinking towards RC! I've been having a lovely time! Thanks for checking in and watching!
I thought I knew how the driving part of this video was gonna go after watching other reviews. But to pleasant surprise. It looks like it drives decent. I think your experience with an scx24 makes you drive it well. Can't wait to see what you upgrade next. I already ordered some brass parts. Hope they start releasing more upgraded links options.
Haha, thanks! This comment makes me smile! I joke sometimes that I've given my life to the SCX24, haha. Yes, it drives much better than I thought it would. The extra weight gives it good grip. And yeah my modifications will be more in the reasonable side to see if I can get more performance whilst still making it look stock
Injora silicone inserts (yellow). I'm pretty sure they'll keep it looking stock lol
I was thinking of buying another set of these wheels and tires cuz they are glued, then adding lead solder inside the tires before I glue them
Man what a lewd jerk.
Honestly doesnt look like it needs too much to do decent, besides the servo/motor upgrade. I'd throw some rc4wd tires and a flat skid. And some brass on the front axle and should be a good scale looking performer
Yeah it drove pretty great. It's certainly weakest on side hill performance. My plan with this truck is to upgrade it with only a few select mods to keep it looking stock. I actually purchased all the parts when this truck got announced in the beginning of October
Injora Big Bore shocks> Great Video.
Yep just ordered some! I actually use injore big bore on my competition rigs. I find even the softest springs might be too stiff for a stock rig
cool new look, RC with great adventure, always good videos bro👍👍😃
Thanks for watching. This model is soo cool! I haven't put a big scratch in it yet hahah
What body is the pink jeep
"Tinker Time RC" is the brand and the model is the "Demogoblin"
tell the guy with the green lexus to use blue thread locker(locktite blue) its typically used on automotive applications but u put a lil bit on a screw and thread it in and the thin plastic dries and holds the screw in but locks the thread so the screw cant backout but u can still take the screw out if needed
Yeah he was using all the blue threadlocker!! We found out this happened because he was running the wrong tooth number on the servo horn and the servo horn was slipping on the splines
@@caseys_cozy_garage oh boy that'll do it, i came out with an scx24 moon buggy chassi i started 3d printing, do u got insta ill send u pics its dope
@@caseys_cozy_garage do u got insta, i made an scx24 moon buggy chassi its dope i 3d print them and sell them now
Gateway drug.!! 👍 👍 👍 😂 😂 😂
It really is
Good stuff
Thank you!
You guys ever do anything in Colorado springs at all
Last year we visited palmer park. I hope to do more springs stuff
your rear dampers might be low on oil, I noticed when u pressed down on the rear it sprung up quickly, Mine definitely has a slower progressive response.
Yeah I think I should Dissasemble them and see how well oiled they are
Lol he has a 4runner body, but it sounds more like a ford explorer with all that gear ticking
Hahaha I think so too. It doesn't have that ford "super huge fan blowing" sound tho
What a crass feller!
Cool thing is you can dial it in for fast street or technical carpet racing.
It would be cool to have adjustable suspension links
kind of lame its not brushless
I would love to see a brushless one!
No way, I think many people intend to use it indoors and it's plenty fast for that. In fact I limit throttle to 75% or even 50% while driving in my apartment. It looks slower while seen driving outside in a large area cause it's soo tiny, but it rips. Brushless it would probably be way to hard to control indoors and would break easier at faster speeds. Plus they are trying to keep cost down, it's an amazing value for $99. Absolutely better than the Mini-Z buggy I used to own that was always getting damaged or broken & almost double the cost. Besides I'm sure we will see plenty of aftermarket support or brushless options soon for it.
Nice runs! It’s been an amazing season! Good job fellas!
I had so much fun this season! But I also got so much better this year than last year
Love these comp day runs, thank you
Thank you! Glad you like them! My phone storage is always full because of too much footage haha
Bro where did you get that little girl sitting in front of your model?
In Tokyo! In Akihabara
Dude, I felt so bad about my run on that class 2 course. But knowing it was a pia for everyone has me feeling a bit better, lol. Hope to make it to an indoor comp. Keep up the great videos!
That class 2 course humbled many of us! There will be an indoor comp Oct 27th at TGH clubhouse. The indoor ones are really fun!
@caseys_cozy_garage i planning on trying to make that one. It's a almost 3 hr drive for me one way, lol. But a friend of mine said he would drive me. I'd hoped to come practice and tweet on my trucks Thursday. But that's a lot of driving for how many courses do they have indoor ??
@roblootens2994 two rock piles. They usually fit 3 10th scale courses and 5 24th scale ones
Tiny tires
Smaller the tire, the better tha balance!
This has me feeling so nostalgic. The Micro T was my first hobby grade RC, I was amazed that it tracked straight. It was so much fun. It started a whole line of 1/36 and then 1/24 scale Losi Micros that were all a blast.
I'd like to get a hold of a micro t someday! I haven't been RCing long enough to have had an easy opportunity to own one! Small RC cars are really special aren't they? Especially if they are so high quality
I still have my micro dt 1/36.
So bottom line, is it worth $100? That's what I need to know. It looks super fun and I really want one, but I need to know.
How do I define worth? For me? Heck yes! It's cut and swift, and when it ever breaks I'll fix i, and I have a club to race it, and friends ro race it with.... I've heard motors burn out easy and it's small so it's not worth it to all
How do you feel about the new injora ir60 scx24 version? Thinking about building a little sibling to my trx4m one.
I really like it! It gives another option different from everyone's proline Cliffhanger! When I get one it will be a challenge to try to get it as low as possible.
