Great coworkers, great students, great teaching conditions, great cafeteria food, great after school activities, great friends, what’s not to like??! What a wonderful life experience for you and your family Jocelyn ❤❤ Btw, does your husband teach at the same school too?
Hola! I’ve been given the opportunity to come live and teach in Honduras, after retiring from teaching in TN. I’ve visited Honduras twice for a week, each time. One of my big concerns is driving in the traffic there. How has it been for y’all, please?
Traffic is relative. We lived in LA and ATL where is traffic is a nightmare. So in comparison I don't think it's that bad...depending on the time of day.
I absolutely love your story! I am from Houston, TX and I have visited La Ceiba Honduras through mission trips, last time in 2019, I have been wanting to go back but money has been tight. A few friends suggested to go there as a teacher. I looked it up and I hope I am looking at this correctly but says I should get a TEFL certificate. That way I can stay there long periods of time or possibly move there? Do you have any suggestions?
It really depends. As long as you are a native english speaker and a bachelors degree you should have no problems. A TEFL would be helpful but not necessary in my opinion. I would look into applying directly to the international schools in La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula, and Tegucigalpa. Also, I would check out my playlist on the channel “How to get a job abroad” starting with this video: ua-cam.com/video/TeF3nKDgSJo/v-deo.html
