Tackling the Blacktail Wild Bill Jeep Badge of Honor Trail - Exploring Lakeside, Montana
In this episode we stop near Kalispell Montana to take on the Blacktail Wild Bill Jeep Badge of Honor Trail. After passing through Glacier National Park on our Montana Backroads adventure, we head to Lakeside, Montana for a stay at 'The Cabins At Blacktail'. These cabins are just a few miles from the Blacktail Wild Bill trailhead and serve as a relaxing stop and jumpoff point. Try some fresh local cherries at the Cherry Haus and ride Montana's ONLY Alpine Coaster, the Flathead Lake Alpine Coaster. And of course the Blacktail Wild Bill Trail. We never considered a Montana Airbnb, but now that we have, we'd definitely do it again! Highly recommended!

    I was on my way from MN to Glacier National Park in MT (July 2024) and after watching this video decided to take a detour to make the long drive more fun. Stayed at James Kipp Campground off US 191 and started the drive from there to Knox Ridge Road -> Lower two calf road -> DY Trail -> Ferry crossing. Lower two calf road was the most fun drive I had. DY trail is a very flat and smooth dirt road so that section was boring. It got a little more interesting after the ferry crossing. Did it in my 2019 VW Atlas stock except Rim (changed from 20" to 17") and tires (245/70/R17 AT). The car was fully loaded with family of four, camping gear, 20 gallons of water etc. Thank you @SixOverland for this video while I wait for crazy prices/interest rates to cool down so i can afford a decent off-road vehicle.

    Nice video! Haven't been in that area since the early 70s! The other two active ferry crossings in Montana are the Carter and Virgelle. While growing up in NE Montana, there was one more ferry crossing on the Missouri, just a few miles from I lived. It was the Poplar Ferry (aka, The Pride of Poplar). That Ferry was replaced by the Poplar Bridge in 1968. As a youth, I had the pleasure of crossing the Missouri on all 4 of these ferries. Thanks for the memories!

    We have had the little eb3a for almost a year. It worked well for travel and charging. I didn't use the AC inverter function for a very long time. However, the inverter failed after only a couple of uses with less than a 100w load. I still need to send it in for RMA, having a problem finding packing material.

    • @SixOverland
      @SixOverland 3 місяці тому

      Thats unfortunate. We haven’t had any issues with our EB55. Lowe’s, Home Depot and U-Haul stores have all sorts of packing material. Thanks for watching and hope it all works out for you!

    I'm looking at doing this as my first badge of honor trail. When did you guys run it? Curious because I was reading that they added culverts and it's a lot less muddy than it used to be.

    • @SixOverland
      @SixOverland 3 місяці тому

      This would have been June of 2021. This mud hole is notorious for eating rigs. It’s actually on Cliff Creek Road or Forest Road 30531 just to the west of the Monument Ridge trail intersection. If you come in from the east and back out the same way, you’d avoid it altogether. We saw culvert work to the east when we were there. Not sure if this one has been changed since we were there. Thanks for watching and best of luck!

    I bought the bluetti ps54 unit at walmart. It only charges at 62 watts an hour not what is says. Bluetti C/S sucks they are all asian and you can't understand them. then they want a video S/N part number order number and your first childs name Ecoflow is way better. Good Luck and beware
