You really know your stuff I use to have a lot of the smaller airfix and esci figures but my brother had more of these kinds.
I was one of those kids who sent away $4.95 plus shipping for a Splinter 8 back in the late 70's! It wasn't exactly as great as I had hoped it would be, but I shot it until it broke itself apart! Check out my response to your initial post for info about that UZI you wondered if they ever built!
The big blue army men were Peco that had accessories first ring hand soldiers early fifties very popular but expensive they were copied by MPC in a smaller size ring hand soldiers with accessories that were cheaper in price.
Yes Marx was the best play sets made since or now they hold their value even today. My first battle ground play set Christmas 1963 the year they came out with the German soldiers.
Nice button commentary, where would I find prices or values for these type buttons?
😎👍
At annual toy soldier show in Chicago, the old timers there can identify anything.
14:55 Soft Polyethylene figures can turn brittle with age, as the pthalate plasticizers in the plastic compound leach out. This varies by manufacturer and, as it seems, even from production batch to production batch, but the figures last longest if kept in a dark place at room temperature.
Why do Americans call them "Army men"? Was it originally a brand name, or something?
Very cool! Yeah looks black like silver that was my first guess too
I used to run to the magazine isle when we went to the grocery store to flip to the back of the gun mags to see these! Never got one but drooled for years.
You sure those were Marx? Marx was superior in detail and it said Marx on the bottom. If it didn’t, they weren’t Marx .
My uncle had a file he kept his in.
I have 2 unopened boxes. The toys come in an egg shape, the kind you get from a gum ball machine. I bought them for $1 each and dying to know what the toys are, but i will not open them. I will sell them to a vintage dealer one day. They are worth approximately $12 each, maybe more as time has gone by. Awesome toys!!
Thank you for sharing this with us. KC1TWE
that is a cool story. i was a ground radio repairman 30454 when i was in the airforce around 1970 and repaired and maintained long range HF transmitters. I find this very interesting. thnx and happy holidays to you.
@@steveperry1344 thank you for your service and I appreciate you sharing that! That sounds like an interesting duty! When I was around nine or ten a young man in our neighborhood gave me a Realistic shortwave radio and told me how to use it. My little sister and I would lay on the floor at night with the lights off and listen to other countries. The sounds of that were so atmospheric and ethereal I think it had quite an impact.
@@CollectorChronicles i spent two of my service in Turkey near Istanbul and late at night i would tune one the receivers to all sorts of stations around the world and even standard broadcasts from america. one of the highlights was listening to the apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 on radio Moscow which was actually in english. i was so surprised that i found it on that station. i would also listen to radio Luxemborg to hear all the latest rock music.
@ wow talk about history unfolding! I just realized the card says the radio was a “6L6”. One of my favorite weird videos about the Montauk Project the guy mentions those.
Q is like saying 10-4.
@@525Lines I tried explaining that to Sheriff Buford T. Justice but he still refers to me as a “sumbich”. 😕
I remember QSY was to signify a frequency change and we would call a Q a Broderick Crawford, 10-4. 5 by 5 was how do you copy and signal strength.

i have several thatsay richmond and others that say carnegie they are like your moms walkway.
I have one with my name on it "MITCHELL"! Cool spots along that river bud!!!
Very cool spot, I've spent a lot of time picking piles like that. The International Brick Collectors Association will be having a brick swap near Normal, IL in May. I highly recommend going if you're free. I think they're planning one for the Quad City area as well. It's a lot of fun and the best way to pick up a bunch of awesome bricks fast.
Oh wow thanks for the info! I’m spread a bit too thin to be buying bricks but it sounds worth going to. I need to go up that way around that time so I might check it out!
@@CollectorChronicles No buying! That's the best part. Everybody lays out what they want to share, they sound the horn at a certain time, and then you run around picking up whatever you want. It's a blast.
Very cool 😊
Thanks brother! Merry Christmas!
That Lacleade Fire Brick is a good one. Lots of people collect old bricks. I love finding them here in Cleveland Ohio. Grab all the solid ones that you can.
Oh I bet you find some good ones over in Ohio! In my UA-cam shorts I think there’s one where I found an embossed keystone or archway brick. Thanks for watching!
@CollectorChronicles I have found some very old bricks in Lake Erie and on the shore, as well as river banks and railroad lines. When the Cleveland Union Terminal project was started in the 1920s, many buildings were torn down, and tons of bricks and building debris were dumped into Lake Erie, or used for fill to build up the coastline. They buried building debris, cars, trash, and god knows what else on the lake front until the EPA put a stop to it in the 1970s.
Hi. I’ve just recently found your posts on here and instagram as well and I love your content! I’m in southern Illinois about 40 minutes from downtown St. Louis and wanted to know more about Cracker Jack prizes and came across your videos. Just bought a metal detector since you’ve gotten me interested in relic hunting. Keep up the great stuff; you make awesome videos. 👍🤟
Thank you for stopping by! I just subscribed to your channel! Ventriloquist dolls scare the ever-living crap out of me but I’ll check out your other stuff now that it’s almost too cold to relic hunt. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
@@CollectorChroniclessorry about that! Idk y I like them just do. I’ll post more of my trinkets in my miniature shelf to help ease the tension lol. Merry Christmas and happy new years to you too!
@@iamalex8457oh you’re all good I’m just a weirdo. Kinda like how some people have a clown phobia 🤡 😬
The light colored bricks are called cinder blocks. There used to line the inside of a furnace. They are made of 8 to 25 percent asbestos and are considered hazardous waste material!
Thank you for the warning! These are fire brick but I think some cinder blocks make it down here. Most of the rubble predates cinder blocks being as widely used as now. Asbestos is in some fire brick but I don’t plan on grinding it into dust and breathing it.
Oh, so they were made in China
Please tell me cause Uzbek, Stans make army toys for the USA
I want that where did you get it? please tell me.
Saw you on the Ticky Tocky came here & subscribed !! Born and raised In Mississippi 100 miles from the Sippy River but I love history civil war era stuff . I metal detect and love the research of the items I find. Looking forward to seeing some more interesting videos from you 💯
@@williewaynewheelbarrowtoma4436 I really appreciate you stopping by! Relics and river lore is what I live for, so welcome aboard! Merry Christmas BTW! 🎄
It’s a Plymouth. Pull over by that rock that looks like a Plymouth
Oh ok! I see what you did there! 😂
Pretty cool 👍
Thanks!
I forgot to mention, the vessel in the thumbnail photograph is the steamboat “Alton”. She was launched in 1906 and crushed by ice in 1918.
This pistol (without the crazy grips} and then a later variant that looked like a P38/Luger version. Were sold in a small toy store in a local mall near my house in Delta, British Columbia Canada. The store was full of Hong Kong sort of imports. The silver BB's were sold in translucent blue celephane bags that the store clerk kept in a big jar and would sell individuallt to us. I loved these guns as a kid, bought many of them and my house and neighborhood had those silver bb's rolling around from me and my friends.
It’s sad that somebody lost their ring but 🍀 good that you found it 👍🏼
I agree. Sometimes people throw their rings or other items in the river as a sign of closure, so it might not have been lost.
cool beans
Thanks brother. 😎
I remember cutting these out as kid. Longing for the day my parents would let me get them or I could afford it myself. Great video!!
THE FIGURE AT 1.25 IS A EARLY MARX G I,MY BROTHERS AND I HAD A BUNCH OF THEM ,THEY ARE 45MM SCALE IF I THIS OLD BRAIN REMEMBER RIGHT.THE LITTLE FLAG ON THE STICK IS MARX MINE MARKER THAT CAME WITH ALL WW2 BATTLE SETS.ALSO BACK IN THE LATE 50S.TO THE MID 70S.THEY HAD BIRTHDAY TOPPERS TOY SOLDIERS KITS,MOST CAME FROM HONG KONG.
I was obsessed with those mail-order pellet guns and bought a few myself.
@@knuckleblood I would say obsessed pretty accurately describes my interest as well. Something about the mystery of what they would be like when you got them. Even though they were plastic I thought they were awesome.
this is so cool omg!! i'm a major ww2 history nerd and this was a real treat to watch. also, if you don't mind me asking, where abouts are you from? you mentioned long johns and, as far as i'm concerned, that's a canadian slang term for innerwear lol
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I have much more WW2 content to share! I was born in southern Missouri and lived all over but St. Louis is my hometown. Here in the Midwest I only heard people call them long johns.

If that's the airborne unit that I think it is your grandpa's unit is the one that jumped on correigidor and took it back from the Japanese in 1945
That’s the unit he was assigned to when he got out (I believe) maybe as a headquarters staff. There’s stationary from Fort Benning he took as a souvenir. When he was up in Alaska I think he was in the 7th Corps. The patch had the reverse black window design.
I'll help if I can, in order- blue guys by Timmee, field gun don't know, soldier missing foot-copy of Marx (guess), red guy is Auburn, green pirate is Timmee, flamethower guy is Ideal, hard plastic brown guys are Beton-Bergen, green guy carrying bazooka looks like a beton copy, green guy firing bazooka is Plasticraft, African is MPC, blue sitting guy is Timmee-and scarce, spaceman-don't know, ditto caveman, baseball player-Marx?, cowboy definitely Marx, kneeling with binocs-don't know, knight-Lido, red knight MPC, flute guy-Marx WOW, red guy-Timmee best guess, green guy with Bow-tie-?, vehicle-? looks American, yoga guys are recently made.
Thanks! I am pretty certain the rescue type truck is Auburn. The other covered truck my uncle has I played with as a child had the profile of the driver molded into the side very similar. The bowtie man may forever remain a mystery.
A vintage baseball uniform is just a footnote! Wild.
That thing is old! It may have been his as a child.
That belt goes with the army uniform from before 1943. The M41 dress jacket had brass hooks in the back for it.
Thank you for the ID! I have my grandpa’s dress uniform so I’ll pair them up. As far as I know he was never issued an “Ike” jacket. When he enlisted in early 1941 they still has WW1 style helmets.
The thing on the back of the button is called a toggle.
Thank you! I was wondering… the jump rings are the round ones.
Your grandpa left service as a staff sgt. ...he played baseball for his hometown team at Merrimac I'll. ...not fults....that is all....from you know who.....😅....u c us allied forces.....
Ohhh ok… I thought it was Fults because the photo of him in the baseball uniform it looks like an “F” on his chest. It’s an Olde English style letter and I’m terrible at recognition with those.
Very cool 😎 😊
Thanks brother! Have a Happy Thanksgiving up there! 🦃
