I know this is an older video but thank you for this I’m currently trying to decide what 7 string pickups to put in a guitar.

Did you have to rework the nut to accommodate the strings?

So they're kinda loose and fuzzy in a cool way. What amp are you using?

I have a question for you, do you stagger the Seymour Duncan Pegasus? I did it on my Telecaster, otherwise the guitar is totally muffled.

I’m late to the party here. But have you played the Holcomb Alpha/Omega set? I’m replacing my EMG 81/85 set for passives and I narrowed it down to the Alpha/Omega or the Pegasus/Sentient. I’m about to flip a coin

I’m personally more of a fan of the Nazgül myself bc with a clean boost like a Fortin 33, TC Electronics Spark booster, Walrus Audio Warhorn, or even an EQ pedal that allows you to give your guitar’s signal a clean boost with no additional gain that you’d get from a typical overdrive a tube screamer you can get very similar tones to a Pegasus boosted with an overdrive while still remaining tight and precise. However, in a lot of the demos that I’ve seen of people playing with a Duncan Pegasus they always manage to sound really tight despite the output being much lower than the Nazgül. I’m pretty sure it sounds a lot more present in a mix compared to the Nazgül because I’m hearing some very powerful midrange frequencies in this mix. The Pegasus sounded a lot better than I expected. 👀

One of the main selling points for guitar pickups to me are "what do these sound like if I played a Mastodon song?" So, thanks for eliminating one more step for me lol. Great playing too, btw

I have those and I put them through a Blackstar HT5 but I can't seem to get enough gain somehow, any Idea how I could remedy this? could it be an amp thing? (I cant really crank it all the way up cause neighbors)

That guitar handles those tunings very well. I tuned mine down with Fishman pickups a half step and took the bottom string down to G# and it was brutal!

These pickups sound great in low tunings. Love it.

What string gauge did you use for drop E? I’m surprised it sounded so clear.

good to use passive pickups with the overly compressed 5150 and 6505 amps which i would set without a boost at 6/10 max with for example ahb-2bs which are probably the most powerful pickups especially with the jumper installed or the optional switch on

Which is better for doom/hard (Drop C): Gibson 498T or these Lace Nitro? Needed both clarity and low-frequency "punch".

Does it boost both outputs? Or just the guitar through or the fx return?

It's extremely difficult to find good pickup reviews that show the pickup sounds in a variety of contexts, and this is exactly that. Good stuff.
