50:17 It's interesting to hear the lyrics of Roll With It Described as "amazing" as I find it to be yet another example of the usual rhyming world salad and an exercise in how to say absolutely nothing in 4 mins. "kiss the girl she's NOT behind the door" is classic Noel in a certain sense where we have words all slightly muddled (maybe this is his dyslexia, although I'm not an expert) also, what is his fascination with what is behind doors? "Maybe you and I will not believe in, the things we find behind the door" It's a shame really because I actually love Roll With It inc the video and single artwork; it's also their best sounding record and his guitar solo doesn't sound like his usual stock pentatonic runs. But anyway, despite the lyrical deficiencies Roll With It is #1 for me lmao

Originally , and for the last 15 years I’d have said this should have been kept off the album and used as a bside, because it’s not good enough However, having watched your mate James Hargreaves’ recent video, where he deep dived analysed the DOYS album, with his theories of hidden Easter eggs and conceptual content, this song makes all the more sense and belongs on that album. Making it a better album However, it’s still among the worst Oasis songs (the calibre js high, very high) and is a rip off of that soul song from the I think 60’s (perhaps a different one to that mentioned by you on this video) - another one which James Hargreaves has done a video on! Anyway, that’s all 👏

Would have been a brilliant addition to (the already superb) Don’t Believe The Truth album. Pop this on after The Meaning of Soul (and also take off Abel to use as bside) and we’ve got an even better album It’s Gem finding his inner The Who via Oasis and good to have a rockier Oasis bside in this later era. It rocks heavy!

Among the ones you didn't mention, Octopus is a band I listened to quite a bit back in the day. They were on Food, Blur's label and made one album. The Audience was second rate but fun, considering it's late Britpop featuring Sophie-Ellis Bextor before "Murder on the Dancefloor" and other dance pop tunes.

A Bell Will Ring is probably, definitely, the best Oasis song Noel never wrote. Gem found his inner Noel Gallagher with this one. I love it, and it’s one of the best 3 songs on a brilliant DBTT album. I’d go as far to say it’s perhaps the most overlooked or underrated Oasis song. It’s right up there Eyeball Tickler is where Gem found his inner The Who Agree on See Me Now, that is sh*te. Pointless. As bad a ‘song’ as Oasis had released

Beady Eye is a funny one, I actually quite liked their "vibe". They had a lot of potential, but everyone kinda just shat on them then. People wanted to see them fail, especially Liam, which was a bit shame. I realize they were missing that "something". And I'm not just talking about Noel, I'm talking about finish. The magic that elevates mediocre bands to the goodness, and good bands to thegreatness. They could've provided that without Noel if they pushed themselves just little further, but as we now know they couldn't. And to put it straight UK-music scene(or music scene overall) wasn't ready for a retro band at early 10s at all, it was completely wrong time. And B.D.I. was all about that, nodding to their predecessors, and they did it well.

All they have to do is drop the original keys of the songs a semi tone or even a tone down, and it would drop the shouting and relax his vocals. He’s 52, not 22. Can’t believe they keep persisting on keeping the same keys as they were in 1994. He just can’t sing them like that anymore. Liam needs to take criticism, something he’s not very good at.

This was an amazingly insightful interview, it's great to hear someone share their decades of experiences straddling the boundaries between the rock/pop music world and classical world, and how difficult it must be to cater for such conflicting artistic temperaments and navigate the complex world of credits and publishing etc. He sounded like a very humble and self-effacing gentleman to listen to and he clearly understands the cyclical nature of inevitable changes in the industry, he's not constantly berating modern practices or trying to bring things back to "how they used to be", which is very refreshing.

This is few potential technical reasons for Liam’s performance at Wembley: When a singer doesn't have a good monitor mix, especially if the mix is not balanced or clear, it can cause a phenomenon called "pitch perception shift." This issue can make the singer perceive the pitch of the song as being lower (a half step down) than it actually is. Here’s a technical explanation: 1. Delayed Audio Feedback: If the singer hears a delayed version of their own voice or the instruments through the monitors, it can cause confusion and lead them to sing off-pitch. The brain tries to correct what it perceives as a mismatch between what is being heard and what is being sung. 2. Phase Cancellation: Poor monitor mixes can result in phase cancellation, where certain frequencies are reduced or cancelled out. This can distort the harmonic content of the sound, making the singer perceive the pitch inaccurately. The singer might adjust their pitch to compensate, leading to singing off-tune. 3. Insufficient Volume or Clarity: If the monitor mix is too quiet or lacks clarity, the singer might struggle to hear themselves or the backing track properly. This can cause them to rely more on muscle memory and internal pitch perception, which might not align with the actual pitch being played. 4. Psychoacoustic Effect: In some cases, the combination of the above factors can lead to a psychoacoustic effect where the singer perceives the pitch to be lower than it actually is. The brain, trying to correct for this, causes the singer to unintentionally sing in a different key, typically a half-step down. In live settings, having a well-balanced and clear monitor mix is crucial to ensure that the singer can accurately hear the music and their own voice, maintaining proper pitch and timing. That’s why Liam, in some parts of the songs appears to sing wrong. If you listen the audios and videos, sometimes he seems to sing on a lower tune.

@@alexneill8338 I think this goes a long way to explaining it. I’m an amateur singer (pub bands / open mics/ churches etc) and if I don’t have a good mix I experience all of these things. This wasn’t LG’s gig - it was the boxing’s venue and the place was set up primarily for their sound needs. His team were doing a quick set on someone else’s turf. They wouldn’t have had the level of control they’d normally have and it would have been very easy to not get things quite right for Liam - hence him signalling to his sound guys.
