Before starting Ringfreaks Nr.1 priority for rental race cars was safety, and after 8 years it still Nr.1! And for a reason - once safety equipment is needed, it must work!
In this video I am reviewing a rollover of one of our BMW F30 328i. Horrible accident which luckily ended up with just a scratch for a driver and crumbled metal art left for us at Ringfreaks. And even all our work was destroyed in seconds - we are more than happy that safety equipment did its job 100%.
Also in the end of the video I am showing how to properly use 6-point harness and helmet. Proper use of these makes all FIA and other safety features assist You most once things goes south.
I really hope, no one would ever suffer such accident - but it can happen if you are racing and you should be ready! Stay safe!

Love your project. Question: Have you removed the battery or any connector in order to weld the roll-cage? Thank you in advance ;)
Big thanks for this video. Safety first!
great video and thanks for the safety brief.. very useful for everyone! glad the driver came out ok!.. the helmet is mostly important if you have a rollcage since it is closer to your head as well, the possibility of the shoulder strap loosening incase of an impact and your body moving 1cm could make all the difference between permanent brain damage or walking away safely. Always wear your helmet :D
I see way too many times people using 4 or 6 point harnesses completely wrong. So I enjoy seeing someone showing, how to do it right. I recommend, making a short, a reel and a Tiktok about this to reach as many people as possible.
4 point should be banned
@@csllover still safer than factory 3 point Belts
@@Lord_Winchester I think I’d prefer a three point belt, you don’t get the “submarining” effect as with the 4 point.
@@csllover if you properly tighten the 4 Point harness, the chance of Submarining is negligible. The Waistbelt just needs to be tight, as shown in the video
I have seen snapped Factory Belts (with the inevitable outcome). One more attachment point might have prevented that.
Ignas, big thanks for the video. Major security topics fully covered.
no crash wideo?
The track itself simply doesn't allowed to public crash/accident type of videos
With what minimum charge you let people take a lap?
Depends. On wet track you dont need much, if its dry - at least 40% at the start, but of course power will be reduced in the end of the lap.
@@Ringfreaks thanks! Good check before going out for a second lap!
Really cool to see this car adapted to race it. Happy it works this way.
What about the hans on the neck?
not allowed classical hans on public streets in Germany, Hybrid is allowed and it is a great improvement for safety as well
Safety first! Very informative as always!
great video!! See you in 2025 for run under 08:10 😃
Great video! Super informative
Safety first! What about insurance franchise? I guess it wasn’t enough to cover all this damage..
Yes, sadly damage was way beyond damage excess. Customers financial risk is capped by different levels of damage excesses depending which insurance option do they take.
O kregžde jau sutaisiai? Ar šita rebuildinsi?
Why didnt come the airbags out ? 🤔
There are none, if you are using FIA equipment then original airbags must be disabled.
Just rented from these guys yesterday, highly recommend!
Will this car get repaired or used for parts?... glad to hear someone got out with just a scratch 😅
Last few good parts will be kept, most is unusable anymore
@Ringfreaks I only ask as I remember you rebuilding an E36 not so long ago but maybe this has more chassis damage
Very good content! That's why I bought my new track car with a full cage, harnesses and buckets; I do have one question though: I've heard people saying that wearing a helmet without HANS is actually worse because of the added weight on your head and therefore neck, what's your take on this?
Ich bekomm immer ne Krise wenn Leute ihre Autos mit Käfig aber ohne Helm fahren.
YES! It makes it way more dangerous than even driving original car without cage if people cannot wear even the most simple helmet.
Do not say things like @0:36 out loud... my wife is listening... 🤫🤫
Well, WHEN it will happen and you will have all the things mentioned here, You will most likely get away safe 😁
Hello guys, im buyed two weeks ago bmw e90 330i it takes like 1l of oil per 2000km it have 400 000km on it but im think to rebuild the engine and ride it for a years. What do you think about n52b30 with 400k on it ? Its something really bad or u think its a good idea to just rebuild it ? Thank you soo much 🙏🏻 (Sorry for my english im from czech republic) Have nice day 🔥
And i have it in mamual offcourse 🙂
Hi! 400k km seems a bit high, but if you are planning to rebuild it - then open it and if block is in good condition - move on with rebuild. If not - then search for better condition parts and build a good engine. Well rebuild n52 lasts long!
after 2 years still so interesting to review this video! You guys rocks!
tbfr the not matching colours freak me out
why do you use 2.5 instead of 3.0?
We got both, 2.5 were very very popular in racing here so these cars fit certain racing class. 3.0 are not competetive in racing, but of course are faster cars!
Slick tyres?
Yes, during RCN race were mandatory to use Hankook tyres.
Nice project
Dude..thank you for making this video. I wish I had seen it 10 years ago, but it brings so much peace to my heart knowing that the weeks worth of research planing out is actually the smart way to do it. Thank you man 🙏 you’ve made a dream feel that much more attainable
How does this compare with your e90 e25i...i assume gti is much faster? Any experience with mk5 vs e90....i have both and will probably start improving one of the for occasional track use.. Nice driving!!
GTI is a bit faster, but driving feeling is very different on both cars.
crazy, perfect work
And never forget to bring the guys and ray cervelat when you come from or through Switzerland 🤣
Hahaha, true! We enjoy it every time you bring it - Thanks from whole team!
Last weekend I was lucky enough to drive the car for 2 laps, and I can only think of one word: amazing! 😁 I was able to go 2 laps with it, because after the second lap the battery was at 25%, but I will definitely rent it again next year, because when the tires are warm, you can go for a very good lap with it without feeling its weight.
Thanks! will be waiting for you coming back!
That's a very informative material, thank you for that that good job
or 328i
Great video. Did my first couple of laps on the ring with a Golf GTI and a BMW 328 from Ringfreaks. Both very well prepared for the track and it was me who was the limiting factor 😅
What wheels?
Motec MCR-1 8x17
Will you marry me? I want to go on this track all the time😂😂😂
Cant you enter without card? Is qr code from phone not enough?
QR code from phone should be enough, but it didn't work for 3 of my 5 laps last week. However the friendly people at the barriers helped me out.
You can also make an account online - add credits and once you arrive at the ring - ask for a green hell card connected to your account. Cards work better at the barrier and in my opinion - less risk of loosing your phone and faster to handle while entering the track.
Who makes the aluminum non slip floor panels ?
Ringfreaks
Great video! Hopefully I'll get one of those VW next year
Stayed for a week a little bit away from Ringfreaks (like 1 min drive) and the area is beautiful, I miss this place from the bottom of my heart 😢
Same bro, i stayed at the lindler motorsport hotel
Awesome video, just one question related with the paperwork, I'm from Mexico, so, do I need a special driver license??? or my driver license here in Mexico can be used for the paperwork as well??? or do I need to request another kind of driver license when I arrive to Germany or I can request for some kind of driver license online??
If I may ask, why did you not install aftermarket antiroll bars? I'm thinking whether I should get h&r or eibach sway bars for my E90, but seeing you didn't make this upgrade makes me think that it could ruin the grip levels of the car? Thank you.
Not necessary for Nurburgring. Maybe for GP tracks would be worth it.
Will you ever rebuild a Model S Plaid for the Ring? Would be sick to see!
Hi lads great vid..i have a few questions. Ive a golf booked on a sat evening sesion for 2 laps. The track is 1400-1900. When do i need to show up to sign paperwork..also when do i need to bring the car back ? Do i have time to park up or take pics etc ? Its an all exclusive booking so tickets and fuel etc.. thanks
Hi! good to hear you are coming! You should arrive an hour before session starts, it means around 13:00 at Ringfreaks. You can take a brake between the laps, but of course - once you are done, we expect you to return the car so we can start preparing it for next day :) see you soon!
@Ringfreaks Thanks for that information.. hoping to be on the ring for the 28th of September. I'm looking forward to it
Excellent guide, thank you 👍
I was expecting a tubed front end and I find a complete rebuild. Amazing work.
Thanks!
Race Car :)
What did the customer payed, since you didn’t knew how much damage there is? I will follow you guys, and hope on some day will be your customer. Right now I can’t risk the possible damage money…..😅
In this very unique situation - it was a bad luck for everyone and customer didn't need to cover the damages. But that was one of the kind situation.
It's a great car to do many laps and have fun in, given the price point! And gives you a lot of confidence, very predictable. But as mentioned, it's not a powerful car. In order to be able to have fun with it, you need to keep your momentum especially when overtaking other cars that are slower in the corners but faster in acceleration. That is the main challenge with this one. But the fun factor is 9.5/10.
Crazy coincidence just happened. I watched this video a few days ago and today I just watched mishas video "BANNED & Too Hot: Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE! // Nürburgring" and at 4:24 in that video you can see this car broken down on the tow truck. Sucks, hope your car is safe and sound brother
Many things can happen in the track, technical defects are very rare but can happen, more often it's drivers error :)
