Приєднався 8 жов 2014
Hello Raptors Fans! Welcome to Raptors Report, a UA-cam channel devoted to your favourite NBA franchise and mine, the Toronto Raptors. There are two kinds of content that I like to make: discussion videos where I try and tackle Raptors-related topics, and highlight videos, where I attempt to use my computer to make cool and exciting montages honoring the on-court exploits of individual Raptors.
I attempt to release one video per week but there isn't a hard deadline date, so please don't be too angry with me. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, please subscribe! If you're already subscribed, follow my Twitter! If you've done both of those things... Uh... Leave a comment on one of my videos? Pet your dog? Call your mom and let her know you're thinking about her. Let someone merge ahead of you in traffic.

Toronto Raptors: Another Round of Injuries & Examining the Kings Game
There’s value in just getting Browns contract off the books.
As much as we are all being armchair critiques, if we bounce back next season, then no one’s gonna remember this season. Raptors delayed the rebuild because under Masai, we never really had to rebuild, just a couple of tweaks and the biggest one was the Kawhi trade. And it was very controversial until about 20-30 games in the season. I am not worried about Bruce Brown - I am worried about picking the right guy in the draft to be honest.
It seems that people don't understand that in the new CBA era, Brown's contract is the value, if he can play well it just increases value. This is how the McDaniels contract was valuable even if he wasn't. Time to catch up people.
His value as an expiring would be to take on a bad contract plus a future asset, if there is a team willing to do that. I’d be fine with that, but people have been extolling the virtues of having expirings for decades. The last substantial expiring contract attached to a bad player the Raptors had was Goran Dragic, and people were saying the exact same thing about him & his contract. He was eventually waived.
Did raps not get pick that went to jazz for Ochai & Kelly, then Ja’ Kobe, then 2026 Pacers 1st pick? I think with all healthy and BB trade we could have decent wing depth of RJ, OA, GD and J’kW play the players that have hot hands and better D matchups. I would try to get a D-3 bigger wing in next year or so even if that means moving RJ, GD, or J’kW since all three will likely want more money that we can support as a group.
Yes. They did get a pick they traded for Ochai & Kelly. That was a pretty good move because last year’s draft wasn’t very good.
i dont think we should trade chris boucher he is is playing far better then bruce or kelly so far
He’s also 33 and in the final year of his deal. They should be trying to turn him into a future asset if they can.
Bruce Brown is worrying me at this point. I feel like the raptors won’t be able to get much for him and he’s just gonna walk at the end of the season
Update - Quickly actually has a long injury history. And it does involve his knees. When he's healthy he's amazing. But I wouldn't count on it. 11/11/24 Elbow 10/23/24 Pelvis 4/13/24 Adductor 4/8/24 Rest 3/20/24 Personal 3/11/24 Hip 1/25/24 Quad 12/11/23 Knee 5/7/23 Ankle 1/22/23 Knee 11/28/22 Knee 12/25/21 Conditioning 12/18/21 Health and Safety Protocols 5/6/21 Ankle 3/22/21 Ankle 3/17/21 Ankle 3/12/21 Groin 12/23/20 Hip
@@LelandReview what does getting a bone bruise on his pelvis have to do with a knee issue from a few years ago? From what I gather his knee problem was inflammation, not a ligament tear and he was not sidelined for a long time. Players get banged up. Look at his games played per season.
@@RaptorsReport Don't get me wrong I think Quickly is amazing. Just not convinced he isn't extremely injury prone. Like you said once you have bad knees no player is ever the same.
Toronto's biggest mistake is delaying the rebuild. who knows what the repercussions will be. i can easily see scottie going back to florida if this team fails to build around him
Yeah I think there is always a risk that you remain bad too long and players begin to worry about their legacy and future earnings. I don’t think the Raptors should be outright tanking after this season. They should take their high pick they get this season and start trying to dig their way out of the hole.
It feels like Brown scammed us. He even stated that he knew he needed surgery to his leg when he was dealt here. And he waited all off season to get it done so he could sit out for most of the season. Guess you can't blame him. He made a lot of cash by doing it.
I don’t want to delve to far into speculation, but it definitely feels pretty crummy that the Raptors picked up his option and he got surgery right before training camp. Now it looks like they’re going to get very little for him.
Boucher had my neighbors thinking i was fighting off a home intruder lastnight 😂 jumping around yelling at my tv lol good game
He was awesome yesterday! I definitely let out a few (muted) yells when he was cooking from 3.
@RaptorsReport I love the bench imitating C.B's shot 😆 (hand in cookie jar)aka thecanadian(gooseneck) hands up way behind the head kinda like Larry bird lol
Season is almost halfway so teams are only paying around 13M
Yeah, I meant mainly that it will be tough to find a deal for him because of how much he’s owed, and therefor, how much salary would have to be sent back. If he’s not producing, that could be hard to find!
Masai making Scottie the franchise which is a big mistake… he needed siakam to show him how to be professional and hardworker….
Not for 47 mil a year for 4 years he didn't. Scottie's doing fine.
Yeah I don’t think it’s fair to turn on Scottie at this point. His offensive is inconsistent, but he has a game it just needs to develop more. Another underrated thing about him is he doesn’t shy away from crunch time and taking tough shots.
siakam was too busy stat padding for all-nba, siakam should have been traded in 2021 masai waited too long, cooper flagg can still save him.
Great video! I agree with your view on jettisoning some of the deadwood - Olynyk and Brown primarily.
Lmao! Harsh… but fair.
The Raptors need to sell out and play Pg driven basketball, where we ALWAYS, get the ball to the pg, we ALWAYS push the pace and fill the lanes. There has been a failure to be strict in this aspect. WE need the pg touching the ball way more and moving the ball to players who are battling for positions. We can't slow down and try to set up these screens so much because the Center position cannot score from the top of the key right now. We don't have 3pt shooting at the 5 so the center should be dunker and setting screens around the paint. 2/3/4 should rotate perimeter and cut rim. Pg should spend more time inside the 3pt arc and be willing to forcefully grab the ball out of the hands of teammate that has stalled out on a drive or back down. More rim pressure from baseline cutters
The thing that gets me with Davion is if he just gets hot, finds a finger flick or a step in to his shot that makes it consistent, he'll be Kyle Lowry. He's a fairly consistent at quick passes in the offense, he finds the next mismatch, just shoot the ball all the way into the basket. Stop being close and be in every time your open good.
I think Lowry was a way better passer than Davion. Davion racks up the assists, but they’re the simple kind. Lowry had better game sense as well. No shade on Davion though, I like him, but Lowry was extremely good!
Masai had a chance to get a FRP for brown, he got greedy and wanted more as always. Now Brown is worth as much as Goran Dragic which means a waive.
Teams were only offering 1sts in a generationally bad draft And adding long term salary
I don’t know what the return was rumoured to be, but that would be a misstep for sure, if true.
Good to see you back on the Scottie train 👊🏾
I don’t think I ever left!
Immanual and Garland have about the same salary. .It really highlights how much Toronto OVERPAID for IQ... This will certainnly hamper our roster going forward..
Facts.
The Raptors & Knicks were kind of over a barrel with the respective players they traded for. Their agents knew the teams would look foolish if they underbid and let the players they traded for walk. As for their future flexibility, I don’t think it’s that bad. They’re not going to be a hot spot for free agents anyway.
Agree with everything except the Pascal situation.
Do you mean the Brown/Siakam trade? What part are you referring to?
Okynyk, Poeltl, Brown, Mitchell & Temple all need to be traded for as many assets as we can possibly get! Boucher shouid be kept & signed on a 5 mill contract for 2 years (10 total). This teams needs to get taller, much better at D , rim protection & Shooting efficiency both from 3 & free throw line Also very disappointed with Masai & the Raptors for the return we got on that Pascal Siakam trade. I know it was Pascals last year & so we were negotiating from a position of weakness but I still think that we could have gotten back a significantly better return. Also why are almost all the players we are getting unproductive & not contributing to winning or making us better on the court (Thad, Otto, Temple, Bruce Brown, Olynyk, Precious & Gary Trent Jr , Armoni Brooks, Weiskamp) why can't we get productive players that can actually make a difference on the court?
You seem to have all the answers. Maybe Raptors should fire Masai and hire you to fix the team 🤷🏾♂️
Every Fan spends their time & hard earned money on the Raptors; I just think that all of us fans deserve a good, respectable & competitive product on the court. We pretty much haven't had that since 2019 & so as a fan if I see mistakes that are detrimental to the team I'm going to point them out, if you're salty about it then so be it 🤷
@@user-cy8wf5mq4b and who will trade you, no one wants garbage inflated assets.
Yeah the Siakam trade is definitely looking a lot worse in light of Brown’s play. Not sure I agree with resigning Boucher. He’s 33 and he won’t be a rotation player when the Raptors are ready to compete. They should try to trade him to a contender.
@@RaptorsReport Great Video as usual thanks for the reply. Hope you keep up all the wonderful content & I wish you much success this New Year!
Do you think this year's draft pick will start for the raps next season? I think the top 6 or so could start over gradey/ochai
Yeah, I think there’s a good chance the Raptors draft a starting caliber player right off the bat. We’ll have to see though!
He plays a little like coby white also
White is a lot skinnier than Harper, and I don’t think he’s as explosive. I can kind of see it though.
@RaptorsReport very true and white is probably a better 3pt creator
Maluach if you can’t get flagg. He’s a potential unicorn. With a year of development he could be a problem. Then tank again for one more lottery pick and we can finally compete
Hoping to see a Jaku breakdown next.
Jaku is a cool talent. I’m going to grind the tape during my time off to figure out who I want to cover next though.
Would be dope to have another bona fide creator
100%!
My Top 5 Draft Board 1. #CaptureTheFlagg 2. Dylan Harper 3. Egor Demin 4. Ace Bailey 5. Khaman Maluach Tre Johnson a bucket, but a little redundant after getting Jakobe & Dick
No Kasparas???
Khaman doesn't deserve to be picked top 5.
Another Point Guard? Still impressive if he's best pick available. He's the Derrick Fisher to JaKobe LOL
Jakobe isn't a PG.
I think he’s making a reference to Kobe Bryant, who I mentioned in the episode!
Not sure if either D. Harper or Ace are "safe" picks but i would pick Cooper over both, not sure how a Raptors Team with D. Harper or Cooper would look vs a strong paint protection team though. Atleast either one pushes Gradey to the bench lol
If they get Harper or Cooper I predict RJB gets pushed to the bench. Dick is a better 3pt shooter and first better with Barnes and Quickley…. And who knows JaKobe may be the starter. He is a good shooter and plays better defence than both Dick and RJ
Yeah I agree. Cooper is my #1 as of right now.
@@mtavares15 possible - but ya IQ RJ Gradey is not part of a great starting 5 just from defense standpoint
I havent followed college hoops but still interested so thanks for breaking down top prospects for us. who's your 4th pick next video? Lol top 5
I assume kasparas jakucionis
I’m going to do some more research between now and my next episode (I’ve got a commitment on the Sunday when I would have made my next video).
@@RaptorsReport thanks again for all the work u put into enlightening us with interesting insights and unbiased opinions lol... but still as a raptors fan 👍🏻 always enjoy your videos looking forward to the next 👍🏻
If Raps can't get Dylan I like Kasparas Jakucionus.
Ace Bailey is a poor man’s Cooper Flagg
This is the Number Raptors content show. No lies here. like other shows No on Ace Bailey, Raptors needs to draft the best Bigman in this Draft. Possibly a PF, so that Barnes can play the SF position. Asa Newell and Derik Queen. Fit and talent is there. I also think JT Topping is underrated. Bingo with Gradey, I would trade him for a Draft pick while his stocks are high. He is really a bench play who is helping the tank. Raptors should heavily invest in this Draft. I would Trade iQ to Spurs, for 2 draft picks or Gradey to Spurs for their Draft picks. Finally, Jeremiah Fears a 6' 4" PG would go well IF Raptors could get 2 extra picks in the 1st round
100% agree about fit! That matters way more when you're picking further down the draft and already have an idea who the core is set as. But the Raptors are lacking in talent and need to prioritize getting good talent. Edit: also in terms of fit, the only position we're kind of full at is Wing SG. Every other position has holes and that includes PG.
Yeah, Raps definitely have a bunch of SGs. They could opt to make a trade if they feel like the BPA is another smaller wing.
You should do a Darko and coaching staff analysis
Ace is a Evan Mobley prototype with better handles. His weakness will be fixed easily at the next level.
I really like this channel. It doesn’t feel like you’re just pumping out content constantly and it’s good quality.
@@StopTakeAChillPill thank you! Glad you’re liking it!
I think u might have jinxed scottie with the 0/4 from 3pt range comment lol
I think gradey to the bench makes sense could be a better situation not just for him offensively but the starting unit defensively
We need a power forward who can rebound first then score
Great video once again, love the breakdown on Ace Bailey. Has intriguing tools, but there's a lot of room for improvement.
My thoughts exactly! Lots of possible outcomes for him as a prospect.
i like the videos, but if you could condense them to 20ish minutes that would be ideal for me imo
Bring back the GROAT! Perfect time for a send off
Year One was such a funny movie thanks for that flashback!!
@@finessa_hudgens no problem! Great cast.
If Raptors select one of these players: Dylan Harper PG/SG, Ace Bailey SF, Cooper Flagg PF, Jeramiah Fears PG, Egor Demin SG 👍
Jaku > Demin. Egor's been mediocre against better competition.
Yes
Should we draft Xavian Lee in 2nd round or sign him as a 2-way? Canadian coming back home. Great PR and jersey sales
I’ll have to watch more of his games, to be honest, but drafting a Canadian is a winning strategy these days 🇨🇦
Ace Bailey is the next best option after Flagg. Barnes can play PG next to Quick as a SG, a pure scorer. RJ as SF. Let Ace play his natural position at PF. Then have Jak as Center. Pretty good
This is what I was talking about with the fit conversation. I think it’s the wrong mentality to have, especially when it’s a draft class as talented as this one.
Dylan Harper would also be a great fit.
I saw ace pull up in transition for a heavily contested midrange jumper that bricked. He gives me Jaylen Brown vibes. Obviously if he ended up being Jaylen Brown that would be incredible but I don’t really think that’s likely.
Yeah his shot selection is a work in progress.
i love the random preliminary discussions before the actual game breakdown. makes watching the ugly ugly performances by sicko raptors fan bearable. keep up the good work!
Fit wise, I believe Ace is the best of the top 3 for US, he's better offball than Flagg and Harper, he's a really good shooter (his ft% will improve) and as a defender he'll help Scottie a lot.
I think drafting for fit in a draft class this talented is not a good plan.
@@RaptorsReportbut if it’s a really talented draft the difference in skill between the top guys aren’t too far apart, wouldn’t it be smart to go after the guy who “fits” the best out of the three?
@@jimmypope7123 I think that there is some difference between the prospects. Think about it this way: would you make a decision on buying a house based on which one matched your current couch?
@@jimmypope7123I'd clearly put Ace a sub tier below Dylan Harper and Cooper Flagg though. Hia flaws are worse off than the other two and that doesn't mean he'll be a bad player but the negative outcomes are more severe with him
