Around here upgrading from 100A to 200A service costs between $8000-$13,000 so I can't imagine what 400A service costs.

Your plumbing/piping work reminds me of a one year old who got their first set of crayola crayons and went to town scribbling in her coloring book and said "Look Mommy, isn't this pretty". And your plumbing inspector must have been that child's 3 year old brother. GOOD GRIEF!

Wow, thats terrible. I bought a new builder grade home with Jeld Wen windows and doors a year ago. I live in a townhouse, so I dont have a lot of windows to begin with. 3 out of 7 windows or doors have some issues with them. Two glass panels had some type of stain within the glass. One window was leaking. The front door seal had a gap. All of these issues could have been caught easily with QC. I think they dont have any QC at their factory at all.

I too suspect a lack of QC. None of that stuff should make it out of the factory.

Great educational video, I learned the 400 amp to make parallel way. I am curious if there is any special purpose to make the service disconnect for your house? Because you have barn load center (like a regular 200 amps panel), it could disconnect if needed. You might simply install a load center for house? Thank you!

Vapor barrier is kinda new thing. Concrete has been around for 100s of years and survived without a plastic sheet under it. I'm no expert but common sense tells me that a well drained foundation around the slab is most important. A few punctures here and there shouldn't be a problem. Temperatures changes might cause your concrete to sweat so keeping it as dry as possible would minimize this. I built a house in 1989 and didn't fuse over plastic punctures, open seems, etc. My basement has never had a leak, and never had any moisture problems. I do, however, operate a very small dehumidifier in my basement.

Hello, Thank you for sharing, OMG I had the same issues. Also they shipped mine without protection as well as no instructions. They did my first custom window and it was a mess when it arrive at Menards. I had to wait for this window 30 days. So, when the window arrived to the hardware store it had scratches in the brown exterior trim, which I had to pay extra for been a two tone window. The hardware store re-order me a second window...a redo order. But unfortunately the second one arrived in the same worse conditions as the first one. So disappointed. I called the Jeld-wen Company, and yes the service representative was very nice and understanding. However, this is not the person manufacturing nor packaging the window to ship it. I must say it is unfortunate; and I have to say that the Jeld-Wen windows I purchased from from of the shell at Menards hardware store before this custom made order were better protected then my $500.00 window. I can understand the company making a mistake once, but making the same mistake twice with the same issues; it has a lot to tell about the production team management.

@@wanderwoodfarm3801 I can appreciate all the projects! We just had a rat infestation in our house. Causing all sorts of issues. From HVAC stuff to actually chewing through water pipes and causing damage there as well. Bittersweet. Great time for us to update everything on the property. Fighting with the electrical company over getting 400 amp service to the house and having them bury the line. Installing our generac generator. Updating everything we can in this house built in the '60s. Oh! We also got our wildlife rescue non-profit set up. So tons more rescues in the near future. Right after the first of the year, going to build our pen for quail that we're going to raise here as well
