Where do you store your ebikes?
Why do I see two types of grill top? Yours have the drain port in the middle, and I see another on their website with two drain ports? And that one has a stainless steel in between the stove and the grill?
I don't know the answer. Maybe an improved version?
@LaurieandBillRetired it's ok, their ads are not updated, they're showing both the old and new version and not saying it.
I have the exact grill for a few years now and I love it. I bought it at REI new for $50. It was returned by previous owner because it was damaged during shipping. Just minor stuff. One of the 4 feet was a little bent but I was able to bend it back to place and the carrying case has a little dent which is just cosmetic. I just bought the new griddle made for this grill and It’s great! The flames of the grill started to get uneven in size so I cleaned it with WD-4 and toothpick which it did an OK job. What do you guys use to clean this grill when it gets clogged? A degreaser?
We've not had an issue yet with the flames so thank you for the tip on how you addressed the issue. So far just been cleaning the grill and drip system with dish soap.
Very good, thanks.
Thank you too!
❤❤❤❤❤
👍
Oooohhh, you use the extra spaces as a closet. Brilliant. Our Solis Pocket has no storage space of that sort and it's starting to bug me. I use storage cubes and they're crammed in the overhead cupboards, but there's no place to hang a heavy jacket that's out of the way. I'm looking seriously at a Solis P National Park hardtop and currently trying to get the husband on board. That would at least give us the bathroom for jackets.
That's a great idea!
nice couple and nice video.
Thank you 😊
Bill grate informative video, but I wanted to mention to be cautious of this hitch, even if it’s with no problem, the metal itself will tear. I did the same set up ratcheting and securing the bike rack. After a short trip I noticed a big play on the hitch it self.
Thank you and great advice. 👍
Thanks for sharing
You are welcome. Thanks you for dropping into the channel. Much appreciated. 👍
Gonna try this hopefully it works thank you 🙏🏻
Cool let me know how it goes. I've since added a 120V 15Amp outlest on my drive which I now use but it only provides 5 miles per hour of charge. That works for us because we generally drive under 20 miles of distance per day.
We moved from a travel trailer to the Solis (family of 4) and it was one of our best decisions EVER. So much flexibility, allows us to go anywhere, anytime with almost no limitations. We plan what we want to do without thinking twice or making any considerations for the RV, and can change plans on the dime. Easy to drive, park, and has absalutely EVERYTHING anyone REALLY NEEDs. We love it. Thanks for the videos!
Yuo are welcome and congratulations on your Solis decision. 👍
Nice to see you again Bill and Laurie,We have the same model, same colour.I can’t wait for your video on the Brouge fridge as we find the freezer pert a little small. We have Eco Flow generator but finding it to be slow charging while driving, any thoughts on that?
Hi John! As to charging your Eco Flow which is a fine product I believe you'll only get between 120 and 240 watts out of the 12V car outlet when the engine is running. So depending on how much you discharged your Eco Flow it may take a while. On the BougeRV fridge / freezer here is a link to the first video we produced on the product ua-cam.com/video/yQykMnLeKpU/v-deo.htmlsi=mJgQ_L_ORJTNLjLk I mistakenly said the "no step" emblem was a wireless charger. Also I was not clear that you can run the BougeRV in either freezer mode or fridge mode but not both at the same time. The video will show however how we transport the BougeRV 53 QT fridge / freezer in our Solis.
I love the eco Flo we are really leaning towards it in our next camper or build.
Love it❤
Thanks for the positive comment. Much appreciated. 👍
Have you had any problems so far with this method? I’m about to buy an adapter for my rv outlet I’m just worried about the horror stories of improper ev charging 😂
No problems using it over a one year period. Recently we moved to using 120V 15 Amp outlet we had installed lower on our driveway so we no longer use the RV outlet. The Tesla adjusts automatically to voltage and amps used.
Just remember that these particular helmets are using a communications system that has a limit to the distance that you can be apart before it disconnects.
Yep and that is why we tested them. Thank you for taking time to comment.
Whole point of cassette is not to have the stinky slinky to deal with. I don’t get this.
Campervan life is a have it your way thing. For us when there is a dump station or sewer at the site we use the hose and then flush with gray water. No right or wrong in our view. Thank you for taking time to comment. 👍
What a lovely sweet women. Thank you very much
I got lucky for sure!
Hi, Bill- Greeting from across the Bay in Walnut Creek. Thanks for the review! I'm leaning towards getting a similar competitor, the Gas One which is dual fuel. I replaced my Coleman tabletop butane burner with a dual fuel Gas One and it's working quite well, so I think their grill will be the next move. I gave my last grill away because it was too hefty and I hardly ever used it. This I think I might actually use. With the dual fuel ones you can also use refillable propane bottles - or even hook it up to your RV propane system, I believe. And you can buy the green propane canisters anywhere - sometimes it's hard to find butane canisters. So thanks for doing a review to demo how well these girls work. I'm impressed that the butane gets so hot so fast! But I actually came over here to ask you a question about your Solis. I'm thinking about ordering a hardtop P and I wanted to ask you if you were able to find one on a lot or if you special ordered yours? And if you ordered it, about how long did it take to get it in? For us the 19 foot P with an air conditioner would be just perfect. We had a Travato, I hated it, we downsized to a Solis Pocket and it's not working out for my 6'2" husband. I think we overshot there and I think the P might be the perfect Goldilocks solution. The Travato was too long for us. It was just hard to park it when we went into town. And the Pocket is a lovely nimble little thing, but 'little' is the operative word. I'm willing to admit my mistake and move on. And I think a hardtop P with A/C would be perfect. Thanks. Trish
Hi Trish, we purchased our 59PX hardtop in April 2021 off the lot at RecVan in Fremont, California. It was during the pandemic and due to supply chain issues Winnebago could not get the tent tops they needed so they started kicking out hardtops. There have been a few times I wished the 59PX was a 59P 😉 but overall we really enjoy and make use of the extra storage space. I hope you find what you are looking for on the lot and thank you for dropping a comment. Much appreciated. ~ Bill
@@LaurieandBillRetired Interesting! So they couldn't get the pop tops. You lucked out. I just got a price from RecVan for a special order Solis P National Park model that was full list price. No discounts. I imagine if they want the sale, they'll discount it some, but that certainly wasn't on the invoice they just sent me! I did see a discounted NPF flattop model at the RecVan in Florida a few weeks ago, but that's just too far to make any sense. And it's gone now anyway, so it's moot. But if you special order, you've got no leverage to bargain. Arghh! Thanks for the response! (BTW, I have a spare 9 inch steel domed lid if you haven't already found something for your grill. It's not huge, but it would probably fit over two chicken breasts. I accidentally ordered two of them on Temu and I only need one, so I'm happy to pass one on. If you're not in a hurry, my downstairs neighbor is from San Mateo and her son lives there and there are frequent visits and I could probably get it to you if you're not in a hurry.)
Grilled 2 small ribeye steaks on this stove recently and while the finished steaks turned out great the grease from the fat only made it about 1/3 of the way down the slanted grease chute before overflowing into the inside of the grill creating a huge mess. Grill was on a level surface and ambient air temperature was in the 50 degree range so I have no idea why the liquified fat did no flow down the grease chute into the drip pan. Seems like the adjustable stove legs should be moved to the fuel can side of the grill to increase the grease chute angle away from that end so that grease will not pool and overflow at the top of the chute. Had to disassemble the grill to remove the overflowed grease from inside. What a mess and hassle.
Fortunately we've not had an issue. I make sure the drip pan sysyem is properly seated after each cleaning. I do notice most of the grease accumulates on the first drip pan under the grill however but that is easy to wipe up once the stove cools and before I place it back in our van.
Good video but a quarter of all heat is to get the crock pot warm. Also having something running at low wattage for a long time is not that efficient. I use a small rice cooker with my 500 w power station and that seems very efficient. As the pot itself is not hard to heat up and it only runs for 25 minutes in total. Makes great stews and curries
Thanks for the feedback and information. Much appreciated. 👍
Same for cellphones they throttle the input to protect the battery.
👍
In Australia you can get very close to the rated capacity from solar panels .
Maybe you have hte best orientation to the sun?
@@LaurieandBillRetired that and often no clouds
I have 4 bikes with 1ups RakAttach swing arm. It is a long setup. I have heard rumors the stock hitch can bend the chassis tabs. My setup does bounce a lot so I am concerned. Landed Gear sells a stiffener but the Curt 13207 is cheaper and has 600lb tongue weight (and bolts to the frame instead of the body tabs). I haven't yet found anyone that has tried the Curt 13207 on the Solis. I will give it a shot. BTW, I have the 59p so I don't have a generator in place of the spare tire. It will most likely fit on the 50p but not the 50px.
Cool! Thank you for dropping a comment.
Hi Bill, I found that the class 3 Curt 13207 will not fit the Solis as the exhaust pipe bends towards the driver side while the Promaster it is straight and points down. The exhaust pipe would need to be modified. I wonder why Winnebago did this. Aesthetics? Or they wanted to point the fumes away from the back doors as this is a sleeping area?
The NEMA TT-30 receptacle can be easily converted to a 30 amp 240 volt NEMA 6-30 outlet. This will double your charging speed. One only needs to replace the receptacle and the circuit breaker. The existing wire run back to your panel can be reused.
Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated.
Now you have a hose to clean.
Yeah but I'm experience having owned a class A motor home before the Solis. 🙂
Excellent idea. I can’t crawl under them any more. Thanks for the great idea.
Glad to help!
Dont be afraid to season that chicken next time.
Good point!
Glad to see you back!
Thanks! We are goin to be off and on for a bit. Laurie's mom just turned 99 so she is still saying close to home. But I use the Solis most months to travel to the desert for my astrophotography hobby. ua-cam.com/users/astrovagabond
What are you using the Jackery for? Do you like it?
I use them in support of my astrophotography hobby for the most part to power my elescopes and mounts. The have regulated 12V out which is important for what I do. Laurie will use them when camping to power a rice cooker or maybe an InstaPot. We dp like them but we've not used other brands yet.
How long does one can last?
Excellent question! 👍 I'm wondering the same thing. 😀 Since I just started using it I've only cooked on it twice. My next trip where I will use it should be the end of next week so maybe I'll have more information then. ~ Bill
Great video! Thanks. Just picked one of these up at REI yesterday ($139). Plan on researching some type lid to keep heat in grill area.
Post if you find a lid option
As @snowsims146 states below, please post and update if you find a lid option. Thanks! ~ Bill
Purchased a RAZOR products 3-IN-1 Griddle Dome ($35) from Sportsmans Warehouse today to use with the "Eureka! SPRK Camp Grill". The RAZOR Griddle Dome is a bit smaller (~8 5/8" X 11 3/8") than the Eureka! SPRK Camp Grill surface (~10 1/8" X 12 3/4") but it sits nicely on top of the grill and is heavy enough to not be affected by normal wind. The RAZOR Griddle Dome is all stainless steel, has a flat semi-recessed dome handle, and comes with a silicone storage lid which allows the Griddle Dome to be used as a storage container as well as a griddle dome. Always like products that perform multiple functions. Will probably store cooking accessories (Dish soap, soft sponge, dish towel, etc.) inside the Griddle Dome until I need to use it on the camp grill. Before finding this product I was just going to use one of those lightweight throw away aluminum baking pans but was concerned that wind would blow it around. The RAZOR Griddle Dome also sits well on top of the Eureka! SPRK+ Camp Stove optional griddle. Doesn't fit perfectly but will serve my needs just fine. Would be nice if Eureka would offer their own griddle lid. @@LaurieandBillRetired
its below a $100 at REI now lol
Does the white color Solis stay cooler than the red or gray???
That is a great question but I do nor know the answer. Maybe someone else will comment. ~ Bill
Good to see you back Bill, grill looks good
Thanks 👍 Much appreciated. ~ Bill
The Grill looks good. Glad to see you back - hope to see some more pizza making soon!
Thanks! Laurie and I have been discussing making pizzas again. I think we'll start even though I need to be gluten free these days as well as maintain a low histamine diet. I may not be able to eat the pizzas but I can cook them! I expect we'll be back cooking again by end of August. 👍
I thought one of the main points of having the cassette was to avoid the stinky slinky. Just pick up the cassette and empty it. It’ll be ok, I promise.
I often just dump it in a toilet or outhouse but there are times when I need to dump the grey water as well and I use the sewer home to dump the cassette and flush it with the 20 gallons of grey water. No smell when using this process. 👍
Hi Bill, I have purchased that same solar panel. On another note, is it possible to charge a solar power station that has a cigarette charger input from my car? If so, does my car need to be running and if not, how long do I need to drive my car the next day to recharge my car battery? Thanks. It is a BALDR 500 W power station.
I often charge the power station using the car while driving to, from, or between site seeing destinations. But the car is running. .
Bill, I'd bet you didn't (and could't) drive your Class A for 7 hours in a day ;-).
You are right! I tried to limit my drive time to under 300 miles. Often 250 and I was ready to get off the road. 😀 Thank you for taking time to comment. Much appreciated.
Nice! Helpful information. I just bought a Solis px and wondering how to attach a street bike? Also what do you do for wifi if you use a laptop?
Good it was helpful and congratulations on you Solis PX purchase! We use a Kuat rack for our e-bikes that attaches to the hitch receiver. For a street bike I expect something like a Hollywood rack might work. For wifi these days (July 2023) we use a Starlink RV solution. Pricey but I go to remote desert locations for astrophotography and normally out of range of cell services.
Thank you for this video! With power outages happening more and more (and for longer amount of times) I've been trying to prepare for the worst.
You are welcome and thank you for watching!
I love this solar panel such a cool package wraps up nice with a cool handle and clips and I got mine hooked up with a Togo 330w power pack
Very cool. I added a third one and may go for a fourth now that we have 3 Jackery's including the 1500.
I have one of these panels too and have really liked it. Thanks for the video.
You are welcome. I recently purchased another one so I have 3 now.
Great update Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Your Tesla screen shows charging at 13 miles/hr. @30amps. With 14-50 plug connected to your mobile charger, the tesla system thinks it can charge at the full capacity of the charger or up to 32 amps. Since the TT-30 RV plug is rated for 30amps, the sustained charging requires that the charger be reduced to 24 amps max. This can be adjusted on the Tesla screen. When properly de-rated to 24 amps you will likely charge at 9 or 10 miles/hr. not 13.
Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated.
Does it have tilt steering? I think thats the one I felt I was reaching(can’t remember) but I have short arms. It is nice 👍🏼
It does not have tilt steering.
Bill, do you have problems sitting in the passenger seat my husband is not that big but it seems like passenger seat just doesn’t go back far enough
Truth be told I've not sat in it because I always drive. Maybe it's time Laurie drives so I can try out that seat. 😀
Is this the R2 Evo or regular R2? Major difference in range between BT and Mesh
We have the R2. Range meets our cycling needs. Thank you for taking time to view the video and comment. 👍
