How Many Watts Does A BALDR 120W Panel Deliver To Jackery Power Stations?

  • A viewer commented their BALDR 120W solar panel was not performing to expectations with their Ecoflow power station. In this video I demonstrate what our BALDR 120W solar panels are producing while charging both our Jackery Explorer 240 and Jackery Explorer 1000 power stations. I also show how we can use both panels to charge the Jackery Explorer 1000 using the Jackery Solarsaga Parallel Adapter.

Your Jackery 240 has a max input of 65 watts. Exactly what you got, so it is the Jackery's fault not an indicator of the solar panel at all.

I love this solar panel such a cool package wraps up nice with a cool handle and clips and I got mine hooked up with a Togo 330w power pack

Very cool. I added a third one and may go for a fourth now that we have 3 Jackery's including the 1500.

Hello Bill, that was a great demonstration. They had different connectors, it seems one works better than the other.

Yes they do. The Explorer 1000 has the Anderson Power Pole style connector which the 240 does not. Thanks you for taking time to check out the video and comment. Much appreciated.👍

In Australia you can get very close to the rated capacity from solar panels .

Same for cellphones they throttle the input to protect the battery.

Thank you for the video Bill. It helped me understand a bit more...so I guess your 1000 Jackery would take a full day and a half to fully charge at about 90W input...but your smaller 200 Jackery could be fully charged in 4 or 5 hours at 65W.
I probably end up keeping my panel...

You are welcome Bob. Yes with one panel I think your estimate is probably correct and consistent with what Jackery states for the 240 and 1000. With two panels inputting 120 watts as shown in the video I should be able to reduce that time to about 8 hours for the 1000. However I have yet to draw the 1000 down below 50% so it's been recharging with one panel in about 6 hours when it is a sunny day.
A side note. I realized my older BALDR panel was very dirty from use in the desert and camping in the forest. This may account for the difference in watts each panel was producing when charging the 1000. I'm going to do a video of panel output when dirty versus when clean to see how much difference if any the dust and sand may have reduced output.
Thanks again for checking out our channel Bob. Much appreciated. 👍

I don't know where you're located, or what time of the year it is, but that upright angle is most likely too high. Here in New England, in the dead of summer, the preferred angle is about 20-22 degrees and it does make a difference in the input. Great test and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for making this video ! The demo was exactly what I was looking for - how much difference the power station might be making in watts received, and especially how the panel's age affects it. I noticed at the beginning that the front panel (right side of screen) had some dirt on it, so I was guessing it was older and might have lost some efficiency with age. Thanks so much for doing the swap-test and putting the Jackery 1000 on it - exactly what I was hoping you'd do ! Sounds like it lost about 10% output over the 8 months of age. Any idea how many actual hours or days the panel was exposed to the sun over that time ? Interestingly the Explorer240 watts input didn't really change much. Great video - covers all the important issues :-)

I should do an update. A viewer informed me I had the solar panels at the wrong angle and if I corrected that I would get higher watts from the panel. They were right. I'm getting ~ 98 watts from each panel. As to the Jackery 240 it's charge controller limits the input rate so I think it is about 68 watts input max even through th panel can deliver more input. Thanks for watching the video and taking time to comment. 👍
