Less is more , attempted realistic, practical, scrappy and lore friendly settlement builds. Latest settlements I'm trying to not go over 2 bars of build limit.(except for perhaps some of the larger sites).Aldo I make my settlements as path finding friendly for settlers as I can. when they continually get stuck it ruins the living feeling.
Im Building a Commonwealth dominated by the Minutemen themed/play through paused mid way for now.
No narration under 10 minute videos. modded.
If you're so inclined I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to improve my channel/videos. should I do longer videos? narrate? ect.
Thanks for the visit!
Update: Didn't expect as many views or anyone subscribing so went out and purchased another hard drive to make longer and better resolution Videos.
Guess I'm investing in the channel now , how did that happen?

Fallout 4 Egret Tours Marina Modded Settlement Build
This build was just over 3 bars in building,4 once all the DIY shelving clutter was added for the purpose of the video , and continued on from a prior save.
the brick buildings were repaired and opened up by a mod, I tore down the boat shed and built a warehouse in its place with a similar footprint and overall design , using vanilla and warehouse extended assets.
After all these years, this is my first build here. I never could figure out what to build.
Please leave a like.

Everything on the 3rd and 4th floors is pretty much vanilla except for guest bedrooms, which are changed and some minor changes to the kitchen. Okay, just downloaded this mod on xbox. Any idea what the extra power switches on the second floor do?
I think they were switches that supplied power 10 each i think. So just provided ample power
Sooo sick! Amazing work!
it's a really great settlement. 2:42 Tapestry next to the door , Sofa with cushions 13:36 Chandelier and LA COIFFE poster What mods are these items included in?
Unfortunately, the items you pointed out are all CC content.
@@thunderfish2 that's a shame. CC items are no longer available and purchasable in the Japanese version due to next generation update.
@YUTASAJI ya that update. Had to rebuild my mod list due to that.
I know I’m late to the party on this one, but may I ask how you got rid of all those little dead twigs that stick up out of the ground? Is it a specific mod?
Simple little mod called "no more twigs "
I fell in love with The Slog and immediately wanted to have a larger ghoul settlement as my *base* only to start building and rather quickly reaching max size. So disappointing. I love what you've done with it, I'm considering the no limit mod but I'm always paranoid about my game running like shite.
Very nice 👍 well done.
since the condo is yours will this generate income?
I'm using a small patch mod for for the condo CC content that turns it into a settlement instead of a player home. Now, yes, the bar vendor makes some income for the condo .
Imagine you walk into the store to go buy a weapon and someone blowing it up on the toilet 😂 14:38
Lol. Yes, I had the sane thoughts during constructing it. But at the same time, I thought working sanitation would be a welcome sight by any wastelander. I felt the build needed more sanitation and did shoehorn it in here essentially.
@@thunderfish2 lol Yeah a waster wouldn't probably care just had a funny thought also fantastic build btw i watched your Slog vid and im now subscribed
Thanks, I appreciate it. The slog turned into a real fun build.
I love it, it's simple but original,, and fits perfectly in game lore, this are the kind of settlements that i love to create in my game, awesome job!
Sim settlements?
No. I've only ever used it briefly, Sim settlements is intriguing looking, though. But it did take a few mods to do this build obviously one to extend the borders, then one that repaired the buildings inside the original settlement boundaries, then another to open up the closed house inside the original boundaries, then lastly I used Beantown interiors to open up the closed houses, and the central commercial building. Everything else I did myself, the restoration of the town hall, and the building I turned into the bar was super satisfying. And I've only ever had 1 crash here, which surprised me, it's been super stable.
Very impressive build. I'm pleased that you chose to continue the pool theme, which makes this settlement site so unique. Very inspirational! Kudos, Thunderfish2! :)
Thanks. I really like this settlement location, which gives you something to work with, why fight it.
Is it a mod or u did it? Its better than diamond city lmao ur so good
No. It's not a mod. I do use mods, like STS or some mods that allow for extra buildable assets like the cinder block walls for example. The only settlement mods I've used open up the buildings at the marina, hangman alley, and Jamaica plain and that's it. Everything else I constructed. But I do appreciate you checking out my build.
I like the way you put these settlements together, really mastered the art of less is more here
Thanks. Less is more something I try to remember while constructing, but it's so easy to get carried away. I'd like to be able to add more detail but try to stick around 4 bars worth of construction. Thanks for checking out the builds and the feedback.
I usually turn the Boathouse into a restaurant and make a small house for the settlers to live in.
I wasn't too sure what to do here. I ended trying for a rest and refit , safe haven along a trade route kind of thing. I plan to revisit this build , make some tweaks, and add a bit more detail.
nice one thunder!
Thanks, Kort!
" synths welcome " !? shame on you é_è
Lol. Usually, I have synth's unwelcome, but I thought since this is basically a ghoul settlement that they would most likely welcome them, since they are both kind of maligned in the commonwealth. But thanks for checking thing out
give settlers spéciale clothes is an important détails for the feeling ... but the poster " we are together" is lies .... the general is totally alone to do everything ... or take preston garvey with you but hey , nobody like this guy ....
Ya kiting out the settlers is usually one of the last things I do, it can take a bit of time to, especially with weapons and all that.
so many objects placed .... if someone shoot with rocket or grenade , thats gonna be a problem : D
Don't you have the Transfer of Settlements mod? I would like to have such a beautiful settlement in my own country. 🙂
Unfortunately, I'm on console, or I'd be happy to oblige. I do thank you for checking my build out, though.
Is this on pc or console ?
Console
You're a brave man to take on Croup Manor. I literally cringe every time I get sent there to build a settlement. Low build budget, lack of buildable space and some of the worst pathing problems in the game make Croup Manor a head banging exercise in frustration. Only Jamaica Plain is worse in my opinion.
You're spot on with the pathing problems. That's one of the reasons why I kept the population lower at this sight and made most of them guards. There is no need to worry about pathfinding, then. I didn't actually end up building much here either more of a restoration/ decoration type of thing.
Go over the build budget much? Haha! You've done a very impressive job there. Glad I got to see it.
For sure, buddy, I definitely did. It gets painful after a certain point, like every placement feels like you're pushing it. I usually limit my builds to 2 to 4 bars, usually. A lot of the clutter, like on the vendor shelves, I added after a save and placed on for the video that helps a fair amount. But anyway, thanks for taking a look at the build and the comment.
Which modes did you use?
The two mods used the most here would be warehouse extended, and sandbag fortifications. There's others as well to a lesser extent. My L/O is on my channel in a short clip
looks amazing!!! I love the slocum's joe incorporated into the motel aesthetic, especially with those neon lights! :) also, could you tell me the name of the mod with the minutemen banners? I'd love to use them in my own settlements
Thanks. The mod is called minutemen propaganda posters.
what are the stats on your system?
Just a xbox 1x, my L/O is on my channel for those interested in what mods where used.
@@thunderfish2 Amazing! FO4 crashes on my Series X like a young teen coming off a sugar high anytime I do intense builds. Gotta love Bethesda! Either way, well done gamer!!!!!
I love seeing these settlement builds, but I always wonder how people manage to get items to remain on tables & shelves. If I put something on a coffee table on the second or third floor of a building, I can rest assured it will find its way to the ground floor within a few visits to the settlement.
OCDecorator mod and DIY shelving are what enable you to have the clutter stay in place.
@@thunderfish2 Thanks. OCDecorator. Well isn't that a clever name?
No problem. I thought the same thing about the name as well. Great simple mod, too. Incidentally, if you're a fan of GI Joe as I am, and your name implies, I think you might like my murkwater build. How did he get there? No one knows, but he feels right at home. If you do check it out, let me know what you think.
@@thunderfish2 Will do, boss. I'm a fossil, an 80's kid. I change my YT handle every few weeks for fun, but its usually a pop culture nod with "derp" tossed in. I've used Johnny Derp, Derp Space Nine, Tom Bombaderp, Victor Von Derp, Dumblederp, Gal Gaderp, Derpwing Duck...you get the idea.
One of the best Slog builds I've seen, looks very realistic! Lots of great care with the overall design and execution.
Thanks. This turned out to be one of the funner builds I've done. I always liked this location.
How do you keep the settlers named Worker, from digging at the floor where the crops used to be?
Actually, I didn't. They still at times sink through the floor and farm there. I just got lucky for the video.
Meanwhile my poor settlers have never even seen a door, of any kind.
Where are the water purifiers though? Why is the pool empty? 😂😂🤣🤣 JK of course. Great build.
Thanks. I appreciate you watching the video and the feedback. I did my best to add some water treatment/source via the concrete shed. I've since added piping to add to the realism, but I don't want to build on this site any further.
@@thunderfish2 I was just referring to the way players like me sloppily fill that pool up with purifiers, to make caps. I was mocking me, not you. =D
@@Tijuanabill lol. I see. Yo I too had a purifier in the pool at one time.
i see you and i have the same taste in settlement mods
I've never received much compliment on my L/O, particularly the workshop mods. So, thanks for the validation I've worked on that load order for years now. Very smooth. Beantown interiors and STC were a necessary evil for my settlement building plans, but I would definitely leave them out if doing a playthrough with minimal building requirements. They cause issues for me downtown, infrequently, but too frequently, I get CTD, particularly after longer playtime. Anyway, thanks for checking out the build
This is an excellent build, and an awesome mod that makes great use of that central building. In Vanilla the east 1/2 is basically a giant cube.
Thanks, Furious. Appreciate your view and comments as always. Opening up the cube was what finally got me into building something here. It really created a lot of space to logically place vendors in and some much needed space for beds and living quarters. Thanks to all the existing infrastructure here, I didn't go for a scrappy build , tried to complement it. I did always like the asphalt parking area and wanted to do something motorpool like here, sort of succeeded, I think. As usual, though, I couldn't add as much detail as I'd like, especially the factory. You have to draw the line at some point when going beyond the build limit. Anyway thanks again.
Yo my guy! It's been a while. Love seeing your builds man! I haven't really done any building in the Marina myself but the Far Harbor assets work well with it huh
Ya, I found them useful for both this one and Kingsport. The lack of access to the interiors of the other buildings always kind of dissuaded me from building there, I was pleased when I found a decent mod that opened things up.
Beautiful build! The layout and additional buildings, it all works great with the site. And your detailing, freakin' love the work. Everything is looking alive and bustling. Great work! Inspiring! And I feel ya' on the site, I haven't done much here over the yrs either, and maybe one that was worth a dang, lol.
Thanks, man. I appreciate your checking thing out as always. When it comes to detailing, I find it can be really fun or incredibly tedious at times, depending on what you're doing anyway. The building mod really helped me get into the site, I always liked the dock area as well as the fairly big, somewhat flat parking lot and its asphalt. Made me want to do something automotive.
One of the Best or the Best fallout 4 bulding I saw
Very nice. I did not plan it out in advance but Jamaica Plain has become a major hub in my game, with multiple provisioners and scavengers operating out of there and the assigned settlers are pretty heavily armed and armored, the whole place is a serious fortification. When I am out and about doing my missions, Jamaica Plain has become a sight for sore eyes, a place of safety.
I always liked Jamaica plain, I remember the first time playing through years ago now looking at it from the freeway, the ghostly ruins. Then all the ghouls attacked, and it was interesting following the ill-fated treasure hunters, finding their remains and whatnot. It became a mission of mine to restore town, and thanks to the modders I was able to do. Tried to make it an administrative center for the minute men. Anyway, thanks for checking things out.
Looks amazing! Heey. What mod did you use for the elevator?
I can't remember the name, but I have a clip of my load order on my channe that will shiw it. l. It also adds an elevator to graygarden as well.
Great job alot of work here.
Thanks. This build took a while to get started. I like the location, but I wasn't too sure what to do at the start.
Can you drop the mod list for this? I'd love to recreate it
Thanks for checking out the build. I have a clip of my load order on my channel. It's gotten fairly large over time. Fortunately, the bulk of the building mods are towards the top of my L/O. If you have any specific questions about the build, just let me know
11.5/10
Wow, it's by far the best and most creative castle settlement build I've seen. I've never before thought fallout 4 settlement builds could be elevated to an art form until I saw this. Thanks. It was really cool to see
Hey man, thanks. I'm not sure how to respond to such a comment, "elevated to an art form." I'm truly blown away. Thanks again. I did have the feeling the build was coming together nicely as I was doing it. Believe it or not, one of the hardest things about this settlement build was getting the settlers/minutemen to act like troops training themselves, kitting them out took forever as well.
Very nice Build, i like 😎
Thanks. It took me a while to get into this build, but once I did, it came together pretty nicely. I think, hope. Wanted to make it not so scrappy as my other builds due to the existing building, pool, and concrete pads.
I love the build. Way better than anything i could do on console
No no. I think you could. Your creative juices need to be flowing for sure, I just start building a small community and think what they would need facilities wise to survive and make this a place they'd survive. While I admire the modless builders, I've been there done that, and found simple logical mods a great help.
I wish I still had my PS4. My finch farms was off da hook. 20 stories tall hotel encompassing everything except a 20' radius around it that had more turrets than the stars and stripes has stars and stripes. 🤣😂😅
My FF was literally visible from Boston proper. I abused the hell out of the cap size glitch down to it was no longer running in fps, but in spf while in settlement mode. I spent 200 hours building it, alone. More time than the game and side quests took me. I had water/cap farms everywhere, just to fund my materials for that settlement. 😂 Yes, I was a tad obsessive about it.
When I finally hit the build ceiling, where another wall couldn't go, I put the tallest structures in the add-ons on top of it to get more height. Plus all my gens were on top. Lots of wiring.
By the time I could no longer add anything without crashing the game, I was only 1/3rd of the way done. 😅
Lol. I would like to have seen it.
Very nice, again. Just discovered your channel and it's made me inspired to resume my building addiction again, haha!! You've used a few mods I haven't seen before so I'm going to check them out. Subbed!
Thanks for checking out the builds and the comments. And for subscribing. I'm always happy to hear when someone gets back into the game. It's been a couple months since I posted a build. I've been working a lot lately, so I haven't had as much time to build lately, but I'm getting close to finishing up my next build. Do hopefully it will be posted soon. Thanks again man.
I really love this, not overdone, just enough. I was addicted to building a few years ago, think I might get back into it. So many thousands of mods left to try haha.
It took me a while to stop over building. It's more realistic, and the game just can't handle to much building at a settlement. Maybe in 5 you can make some mega settlements with lots of clutter.
Beautiful build. I love the brick building by the exterior outcropping, real clean. The vertibird pads look great aswell
I'm pleased you noticed that building it took me awhile to get it the way I wanted it. Sinking it down did the trick. I didn't want it close to the height of the castle walls.
This man/woman only having 400 subscribers is a damn crime. Consistently some of the best builds.
Hey I’m curious to what mod you used to rebuild the town hall in Jamaica plain and the houses was it snappy house kit? Workshop rearranged?
Hey. Thanks for checking out the builds. In regards to Jamaica Plain, it's fairly modded. I used a mod to restore the buildings and open up the house in the original sized settlement, then I used Beantown interiors to open up all the remaining closed buildings in the town. As far as the Town Hall, I restored that myself along with the central building. I turned into a bar along with some of the original houses you could enter.
What mods did you use to remake the town hall building? Even the regular houses? Looks amazing great job
